[Rumor from Baldur's Gate]

A burglary happened during the night in the Elbenmoore estate, in the palace district.

Rumors spreads that the owner of the house, Dubren Elbenmoore, is still safe and unarmed, but the burglar(s) went away with a few of his possessions, along with his wife's most costly jewel:
The sea eggs, a pearl necklace said to be worth thousands of gold.

One of the Elbenmoore's guard has been seen drinking at the blade and stars.

"I didn't hear a thing! We were at the entrance, the door never opened! Those who did this were professionals, no doubt. Or is it just Dubren who lost it all during a card's game? Who knows, heh. Perhaps it's his ex-wife who hired someone too. Since she got with that Jack, she turned insane, I tell ya."

[Rumors of Baldur's Gate]

Rumors spread in taverns that a group of unknown adventurers managed to clean a cave near the city of Baldur's Gate of a group of Bhaalists trying to form a new cult closer to the city of Baldur's Gate. The adventurers, while drinking, said that some of them managed to flee in the forest yelling that they would come back, stronger, for the lord of murder.

[Rumors of Baldur's Gate]

At the elfsong tavern, a drunken old monk of Ilmater has been spreading rumors about a group of Bhaalists who kidnaped a child lately.

"That poor little girl was saved by Aranath and his friends! If they wouldn't have been there, who knows what would have happened with her. She.. she was soaked in blood, that poor child... Hey waitress, refill my mug please. By all that is good in this world, I hope they'll be dealt with soon enough..."

[Rumors of Baldur's Gate]

Words spread in the various taverns of the gate.

Davon Shieldheart, a known ex-paladin of Tyr and ex knight of the Radiant Heart who has fallen in the last months, was recently heard saying some of his newest feats of heroism.

"Yeah! Hic! I tell you! I saved that girl. There was.. Hic! There was.. Two.. wait.. Three guys around her corpse when I arrived! I..." He drinks some more. "I charged them and.. Hic! I tell you! Tyr was with me. I swang my sword and they fled from the holy presence of mine! I assure you! Hic! Hey, seriously. Anyone wanna pay me another booze? I'm sick of drinkin' in the ashtrays.. Seriously, anyone? Amy.. where are you.."

The drunken ex-paladin cried alone at a table long after, in the Elfsong tavern.

[Rumors Around Baldur's Gate and the Sword Coast]

There are a few quiet whispers floating about based on some newer unfriendly strangers out and about walking up and down the tradeway.

"Did you see that lot of folk; they glared at everyone they passed to keep them away."

"I say they were covered in dirt as if they were rolling around in caverns; I swear the one had a scaly tail sticking out from under it's robe too!"

"A tail? We don't have folks with tails around here, but I swear one of their eyes glowed."

"It's just some new mercenary company. Sure wouldn't want to get on their wrong side though."

"All of you are just overly paranoid. They can't be any worse then that pirate man or the man with the shovel."

"Could be the kid of the pirate. Heard he spent years in the depths. Things down there have tails. Hey, it could happen."

"They looked no different then any of the other adventures we've seen traveling around before."

[Rumors of Baldur's Gate]

Today, many peasants and travelers noticed a few corpses floating in the Chiontar's river, under the bridge of Baldur's Gate. Most where dressed in black and red, and were taken out of it by flaming fist soldiers. A questionning expression could be percieved on their faces as they glanced at where the stream of the river is coming from.

The Trade Way is filled with travellers who make their way along it. While doing so, stories and tales are often exchanged. It's not too uncommon for things that occured only recently to become the main conversation of individuals.

[Rumors of Baldur's Gate]

Rumors spread from important people of the mercantile class of Baldur's Gate.

A flaming fist Galleon has been sank!

Image

Irlentree, a very rich and prominent member of the Merchant's league and owner of a fleet of ships is seen arriving at the Baldur's Gate docks with a fancy-looking rowboat coming from a larger trade ship that has dropped the achor a bit further in the sea. He is hastely escorted to the duchal palace by a troop of fist soldiers. Soon after, Irlentree's crew spread the following words.

"We've seen it! It was an Amnian ship, we've seen the flag in the distance! They attacked the fist's Galleon and sunk it! We managed to flee the scene before the Amnian ship would target us. By Waukeen! Why would Amn attack the fists!"

A few hours after Irlentree's arrival in the duchal Palace, a man is seen escorted out of it by flaming fist officers. The man seems furious.

The next day, the flaming fist activity is increased drastically in the dock district. Many flaming fists galleons can be seen aligned in the distance. Flaming fist soldiers and officers are taking rowboats to reach the larger ships. When asked about what's happening, the usual response would be what follows.

"Don't worry, citizens. We'll get things handled."

[Rumors from the Sword Coast]

The Amnian emissary have recently be escorted by a flaming fist guard from Baldur's Gate to Nashkel. The caravan was followed by many curious adventurers whom offered to help defend the emisssary. A few tried to speak with the emissary about the rumors of war, one of them was Dean Sonlite, who stopped the caravan near Beregost to speak of peace.

Soon after, the emissary's caravan got ambushed by assassins. A flaming fist mercenary died, and one of the assassins as well. Rumors spreads in taverns of Nashkel about this incident. Some says that the dukes sent rookies to protect the emissary.

Wounded, but alive, the Amnian emissary finally reached Nashkel.

The many adventurers who've witnessed the scene noticed some animosity between the fists and the Amnian troops. Words were exchanged.

"We know you did it! We have proofs! You killed everyone in Markhold!" Said an amnian soldier.

"You hire people to sink our ships, now? Can't do your own crimes yourself?" Said a fist soldier.

"Shut up! SHUT UP! We were not sent here to start a fight with those bastards, but to deliver the emissary alive." Said the fist officer.

[Rumors from the Sword Coast] & [Rumors of Baldur's Gate]

There are several rumors concerning the explosion that destroyed the bridge stretching over the Chionthar River. Word is that two caravans exploded on the bridge, collapsing the structure and sending rocks and debris flying into the sky and the river below. Oil began to leak from one of the caravans shortly before they exploded into flames. Some say that some belonging to the new Red Wizard Enclave permitted in Baldur's Gate were seen escorting the caravan which then destroyed the bridge. Others say that the flags worn by the caravans were that of Amn and that the Amnian wizard escorting the group cast a fireball at the wagons which caused them to explode.

Other rumors consist of the Adventurer's Guild that they escorted the caravans filled with explosives to the bridge and set it off themselves.

The Trade Way has become more crowded recently with the amount of caravans, siege weapons, and Fist soldiers seen making their way down from the Gate. With the bridge destroyed, the ferry can be seen operating at all hours of the day, carrying with it everything that can fit. As the things make their way south, they stop just shy of travelling further south than the Friendly Arm Inn.

The war camp begins to grow with numerous additions to it: tents are put up as more soldiers arrive; trebuchets, catapults, and siege towers begin to gather in larger numbers as each day passes; crates upon crates of supplies ranging from weapontry to food are stacked; and finally, many trees are cut down and their logs stored to the side. The purpose of the logs remains unknown for the most part, though those with military expertise may be able to identify the purpose.

The harbor grows more crowded as soldiers board ships, stocking them with supplies to last a week or two at sea.

Meanwhile, Amn itself begins to mobilize. Word makes its way down the Trade Way that Amn is preparing to send its miilitary north in response to the Fist movement south. A military governor is said to have been put in charge of this force.

War is on the horizon.

Word begins to make its way down the Trade Way, albeit slower than usual due to the cold weather that has rolled itself in on the Sword Coast. With the weather cold, many made their way inside the tavern and began enjoying a few drinks. Some had more than others, and as new guests arrived, words began to be heard cheered in the tavern.

"Death to Amn! Death to Amn!" was shouted by a Fist Champion and several tavern-goers whom were all well on their way to a good night sleep.

A new man entered the tavern, chilled to the bone by the cold. After hearing the words shouted by the many men and women in the tavern, he spoke up. His words would prove to be the end of him, as he stood there slandering the name of the Fist. The Fist soldier then knocked the man to the ground, where he further said that the Fist would be punished for what they did to Amn.

"They're gonna come... and destroy your city... kill everyone... just like you did to Markhold! You will die just like the families of Markhold did! All of you will!"

The Fist then drew his sword and killed the man before dragging his body out into the snowstorm, disappearing in the distance.

Explosions rocked the Sword Coast this day, both above and below the ground.

Below the ground, rumours swirl about of an attack on the Ironfaar Stronghold located to the south of Candlekeep. Many dwarves, mostly women, children, and those too old to fight, were seen making their way slowly with many terribly wounded, blood covered dwarves. Smoke rose from the great keep doors of the fortress over the next few hours, the black swirls spiraling into the sky above.

The Ironfaar and Slayer dwarves trudged their feet along the Trade Way north from their former home. Tears rolled down the cheeks of many, while few were able to keep a straight face.

For this day they did not only lose their stronghold. This day, they also lost their history and their chieftain, Korgoth Ironfaar. They left behind many great artifacts and memorials of their past. Now, it lies in the hands of their dark kin, the Duergar.

What will become of these dwarven refugees is unknown. What is known, is there will be much drinking to be had in the next couple of days, and none of it is cheerful.

[South of Candlekeep]

Another Galleon down!

Image

This time, though, rumors spread that the flaming fist sank an amnian ship, near Candlekeep's beach. People from Candlekeep can be heard saying that they've seen three flaming fist ships; a Galleon, a Frigate and a Man-o-War going north back to Baldur's Gate after an explosion on the sea. The dead corpses floating to the shore were wearing Amnian uniforms, and the flag on the ship was also Amnian.

The rumors spread even further. Some says it was pirates again, using the flaming fist banners as a decoy, some says the war is now lit and won't be able to be stiffled.

[The Sword Coast]

Rumors spread about many flaming fist courriers leaving the Duchal Palace on horses visiting a few factions, bringing with them a sealed parchement. A few citizens can be heard saying that the dukes are sending their tactics to their allies, others say that they don't have allies yet. Large groups of citizens are seen packing up their wagons in Baldur's Gate, saying that it's more safe to leave to Daggerford than to face a nation in a war.

Word quickly spreads throughout the city and the region of the public announcement: a declaration of war has been made, and Baldur's Gate will march south to defend Her lands from the invading army of Amn. Many Flaming Fist soldiers can be seen organizing in the city. Two rope bridges are placed to span the gaps in the bridge, as the ferry now only operates for the siege weapontry that pass over the Chiontar River while the soldiers cross the swaying bridges.

Chants can be heard roaring from the troops as they march south, though the most notable cheer is easily audible: "Long live Baldur's Gate! Long live the Grand Dukes! Long live the Flaming Fist!"

[Rumors from Baldur's Gate]

A murder in the farmlands.

Image

Early in the morning today, soon after the sunrise, a loud yell could be heard from a small peasant house in the farmlands. A farmer named Billy was seen by at least a dozen citizens running out of the house, yelling "Corpses! Daphne is dead! Please someone.. help! There's.. an angel.. dead.. her.. her baby.. please, someone!".

Many farmers spoke with Billy before the flaming fists arrived on the crime scene. The house perimeters have been closed to everyone exept the flaming fists until they can figure out what happened.

Later in the evening, at the nearest taverns, the rumors started to flow about the murder.

"I've heard Daphne was pregnant since a bit more than a year... That pregnancy wasn't normal, was it?"

"Billy said her belly's been... open.. by something. And that her baby's been mutilated.."

"Do you believe what he said? He also said there was a corpse of an angel nearby... Personally, I think billy killed her. She had no husband, right? I think Billy thought he was the father, but Daphne didn't love him, so he killed her, heh."

"This doesn't make sense. Just let the flaming fists handle it, it's their job."
