Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
On a rare appearance on the road outside of Baldur's Gate, Aleric sees the camp and defenses clustered around the orphanage. As he makes his way from the Gate to the farmlands he can be heard sniffing derisively and muttering, "Sodding amateurs. Ye don't concentrate all yer defenses right smack dab on top of the thing yer bloody defending."

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Aearion's version, to those who would care to ask and listen, is quite different. He shrugs if off with his usual air of casual calm, but there's an underlying edge to his words.
"It's something to boast about, beating up an unarmed and dispelled captive, two or three to one. I'm sure the Fist are quite proud of that feat. Then having a Battlemage fell the victim, well, that's worthy of a bard's song, isn't it? For what, interposing himself when his lover is being threatened? High treason, let's all buy them another round!"
His other, whispered, words, not quite so sarcastic, probably weren't lost on Sir Jonas whom he once considered a friend.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A flurry of activity in the streets of Baldur's Gate today as a prisoner is brought in; rumour flies even more quickly than fact.
The most credible rumour is that a procession of Ironfaar dwarves turned over a prisoner to the Flaming Fist; a quiet execution was held within the prison, unwitnessed by outsiders. Even as the citizens and adventurers speculate on the nature of the condemned, messengers and criers race about.
Their message is a simple warning, for now: The Drow have returned to the surface to wreak bloody havoc.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
About the orphanage a seemingly strange sight can be seen. One of First Company, trooper Thedran is almost constantly seen. While most of his company over look the "Training" areas, Thedran looks after the orphanage. Even when the training bouts end, and most of his fellows go home, the bardic member of The Fist is seen about.
During the day, he can be found aiding in the many tasks of caring for the children, though unlike most of the caretakers he keeps his sword by his side. Even still, he manages a majority of the heavy lifting while present, and does so with great ease. He offers a unexpected skill in the kitchen, picking up the odd tasks when people need help to complete the daily meals. Lastly, he uses his lute and stories and endless supply of energy to entertain the children after their daily lessons are complete.
Even though the young man takes part in the life of the orphanage his uniform and pack always seem to "appear" when needed. Even when he plays with the children in the yards, he stops from time to time to watch travelers, in particular anyone whom approaches the Orphanage.
After nightfall. . he seems the ghost, fully armed and armored he can be seen walking a endless patrol around the building, constantly checking each door, and shutter. While not always visible, his presence is felt to those who reside inside his charge. With the coming of dawn, his armor vanishes and he resumes the task of lending a hand.
And any who take notice of the day to day, it's obvious he takes at least partial part in the "lessons" given to some of the children

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumors flow through Baldur's Gate. Captain Rocshanks of the Flaming Fist has been murdered in the Docks of the City. No, Captain Rocshanks was attacked and just badly injured. No, Captain Rocshanks soundly defeated. But the rumor spoken in the most hushed tones is that Captain Rocshanks was indeed killed and something horrible was done to his body.
No one actually saw the attack. Those that know the streets and taverns of the Gate hear that one of the men in the early conversations about this attack wore a purple cloak and talked about rust and worms.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Reluctant talk (for fear of sounding crazy) and some bold jabbering (from the crazy) has come up about a golden fleeced leopard, described as a gold mountain lion in ignorance, in Eatern Cloakwood. It is said to be seen lounging on the branches of the tree's at night, watching the passengers in the land, and only seems to get excited or lets itself be noticed when commotion is stirred up in the woods.
It's never been said to attack anybody, nor show itself in full or in daylight, so for now remains a ghost story.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A horned devil was sighted near the Bhaal fort and later seen running through Beregost and then Nashkel where it was finally slain. The devil was ended up actually being a man shifted by magic and had help of a warlock assuming friend of his as they were fighting together, the warlock however managed to flee the scene...

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Sir Jonas Rokranon has not been seen in or around Baldur's Gate in over a tenday, and with the recent rumors of the murder of Captain Rocshanks, before too long the rumors spread that the paladin perhaps has shared the same fate.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Disquieting news reach the city, filling taverns with gloomy atmosphere and talks about the Bhaal cultists activities being on the rise. Assassins, demons, an atrocious sacrifice being prepared which once completed would unleash unspeakable terror on the lands. The collection of disturbing stories sowing fear into the hearts of citizens is complemented with the most recent one. A couple of people, garbed in dark colours and with a menacing air about them, appeared at the campfire in the farmlands. Their preachings about the Lord of murder were a shock to those gathered. But they didn’t take aback a Fist officer, standing guard at the bridge who attempted to arrest the Bhaalists. A fight ensued in which an unlucky hin was slain, but eventually the servants of the foul god were defeated. And although the threat was rather easily dealt with, the incident left those witnessing it to wonder. Were that couple acting on their own, so foolishly preaching in the open? Or were they harbingers of something larger to come?

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Adding to the rumors of Bhaalists, the citizens also have worries about rumors of an evil cleric lurking around the Gate's graveyard. Witnesses describe him as a taller man, wearing full armor and a distinctive helm with a blade resembling an executioner's axe on the back of it. He had an unnaturally foul breath and refused to show his face. He was accused of being a pale master by a wizard with a foul temper about him.
There are also rumors about a bandit and orc assaulting the same group who encountered the cleric demanding the adventurers kill the cleric and return an item to him. What this item was is unknown.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Four figures sit at a table in the Helm and Cloak, drinking and roaring with laughter. Like the beginning of some bad joke, they are a paladin, a rogue, a sorceress and a saint.
The paladin sits proudly at attention, the tavern light catching his gold circlet and bright armour plate emblazoned with the hand of Torm, his deep blue cloak draped behind him.
The rogue, bald and scarred and with an eyepatch over one eye, sits wearing green and black leathers and intermittently swigs from his drink, offering flirtatious winks at the sorceress opposite.
The sorceress, her hair swept back and up in an unusual ploom, wears a pale yellow tunic with an eye emblazoned on the front. She sits with her elbows resting on the table and eyes everyone suspiciously, especially the rogue.
The diminutive saint sits with her head barely visible over the table, having to reach up to periodically sip her tea. She is adorned in plain robes, with a halo poorly assembled from bits of parchment sitting atop her head.
The Rogue looks shiftily around his company. “Any o’ ye want ta buy some mithral? My...eh...supplier just got me a new batch o’ it..” He says. The sorceress suddenly draws a short blade and stabs it in the table in front of the rogue. “I see you!” She declares. “Eh...I ain’t trying to hide...” Protests the rogue. “Shut up sneak!” She yells at him. “I hate sneaks! And I hate dock-folk!” She glances sharply around at the others. “I can see you, you know! I can see you all!”
The little saint sips her tea. “Calm down Rith dear.” She says. “We must show mercy, we must always show mercy!” The paladin nods in agreement. “Yes we must always be noble and righteous in thought and deed.” He says. “And now if you will excuse me, I shall go into the kitchen and volunteer to wash the dishes.”
“Oh I will help you Aethor!” Says the saint. As the paladin marches off to the kitchen, she gets up to follow him. She moves around the table at an inexplicably fast walk and knocks the rogue right out of his chair. “EGADS! Ye knock me out o’ ma cha-...” He coughs and wheezes as the saint reverses back over him at that same ridiculous pace, before he can even finish a sentence. “Sorry Kel!” She says wryly.
The sorceress pouts and slumps a bit on the table. “I wish Jonas or Tomar were here. Meri...call me ‘Goddess’...tell me I’m beautiful...” She says sulkily. “You are a ray of sunshine Rith dear.” Says the saint. “Why doesn’t everybody love me as much as I do? It’s not like I want to kill orc babies, I have to! To protect my people! I don’t want to crush their tiny bodies...to drain their blood in a tub and soak myself in it...” The sorceress trails off and gets a glazed look as she thinks about bathing in the blood of slaughtered orc infants.
All at the table exchange looks and then fall back into hysterical fits of laughter. After another successful Thieves' Come-dressed-as-another-character party, the participants wake up later in strange parts of town with formidable hangovers.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Murder most foul has been commited in Baldurs Gate, one Kalek Welter was attacked on the way to a ceremony to crown the new commandant of the Claret Partisans - Partisan Division.. he was brutally attacked on the trade way but managed to escape. He made it to the Merchant League and accused one Kierran Naver of foul play and deception. Kierran protested and the honourable director Tabot took his commandant Charraj aside to speak of the incident.
While they were discussing events in an office. The assassin attacked again and stabbed Kalek viciously while Kierran watched in shock. Elad the scribe was blood-splattered and whimpering. the heroic Charraj and Tabot rushed to the scene only to find Kierran petrified in the corner and Kalek missing his head, gore on the walls and sangre gushing onto the floor.
The scene was complete confusion and lamentation. One Charraj reported to the Fist outside about the incident and they hopefully began investigating the area. It was said Kalek was mournfully carried through the streets and is bring prepared for ressurection by a high priest - for an amazing amount of gold)
In light of Kaleks death, Kierran has been appointed temporary commandant. He is going to suffer an internal investigation and questioning by the Flaming Fist as soon as appointments can be arranged.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A man with a tattoo of a mask on his face approaches a ship at the docks and engages in a spirited conversation with its Captain. After few moments, observers report that several gold coins are given to the Captain. Shortly after that, several people are taken off the ship. Initially iritated, their frowns turn to smiles as the tattooed man hands each of them several coins. The tattooed man then hurries onto the ship, and the crew can be seen hustling to get under way. For those with the ability to ask, they will learn that the ship sails for Waterdeep. For those that seek out and find the displaced passengers, they say the tattooed man was polite and paid them double their fare to wait for the next ship. Rumor has it that the tattooed man paid the Captain triple the price of each fare lost. They say he said he simply needed the room they were staying in.
