Background:
Loris was born in Icewind Dale, in the town Lonelywood, on the twelfth of Ches in 1359. His father was a farmer, and his mother a low-level cleric of Chauntea. His life was normal for a few years, until his sorcery began to manifest. When he was angry or upset, bursts of flame, lightning, and magic destroyed nearby objects, and he frequently fainted after these fits. His mother, realizing they had to do something, took her nine-year-old son to the nearest Church of Mystra. They quickly named him a sorcerer, questioning the mother on their bloodline. She could not name it, for the sorcery came from his father's side, with a great copper dragon centuries ago. He stayed at the Church of Mystra for about ten years before setting off in search of adventure.
His next stop was Neverwinter, where he met a warrior elf named Ketor and a dwarf cleric of Moradin, Kagruff. He joined them in raids on the surrounding caves, fighting orcs, goblins, and bandits. Eventually, they met a drow raiding party. As the other two fell, Loris made a choice he would regret for the rest of his life; he turned invisible and fled. He wandered the coast aimlessly, learning greater control of his magic, for years, until he found Baldur's Gate and decided to settle there...
Goals: Getting revenge on the drow party. Joining a guild or organization.

He's very reckless and enjoys gambling games, though he isn't above cheating if he thinks someone else is too. As a sorcerer, he has trouble sympathizing with people who don't have magic. ("What? They saw you try to sneak away? Why didn't you just turn invisible? What do you mean you can't?"). He is very ambitious.
