Subject: Shadow Walk - yay or nay?
The failure rate has been quoted as being anywhere from 2/3 to 80% failure. Which is a lot.
Question: Can these spells be looked into to actually be of more use, please?
Argument: This failure rate isn't a direct translation from lore as far as I can tell. As long as Greater Teleport will always remain the safest option, I see no reason why these spells shouldn't at least be viable. It can be taken into account that they are all higher spell level (6 & 7 respectively) than a regular plain Teleport (which doesn't fail that often! at spell level 5). Greater Teleport is at 7.
I'm not convinced that these spells should only be used by those who can't get Teleport due to their opposition school. Flavour is important among wizards but if you're forced to pick one option when there are several because "Those spells should be difficult" (translation: nearly impossible) is frustrating.

I have to agree they are same or higher level then teleport, With the same gold cost and a required skill roll. They should have the same chance of success, Cheaper gold cost or no required skill roll.

I made a post about mirror walk a few times. Even if you pass the roll you can still randomly fail.

Yeah, that spell is terrible for transportation. Today I saw one perso fail 7 times in a row (at least) with full cost. Not to mention the spell seems to have higher dmg even when you succeed (got once 75 dmg from succesful Mirror Walk. And the spell is supposed to be 100% succesful but more risky, even according to description.

Re: Shadow Walk/Mirror Walk - too high failure rate
Considering they are higher level spells and appear to be the equivalent of a simple teleport with more flavor to them (style points!), they are a whole lot more unreliable than teleport. Seems odd!

The spell fixed yet or does it still require uber high search skill which clerics do not get, or have a dc so high only a dm could make it?
