Rumors of Greenest & The Uldoon Trail

Greenest

NPCs
Queen Dharva Scatterheart
(Halfling Female) - Ruler
Orniff (Dwarven Male) - Owner, Greenest Tavern
Eadyan Falconmoon (Half-Elf Male) - Priest, Chauntea

A relatively new agrarian settlement, and a minor caravan stopover along the Uldoon Trail, Greenest is ruled by a female hin, Dharva Scatterheart. Though it generates little trade of its own, current commerce is tied into agriculture, as well as the caravan industry (building wagons, wheels, husbandry, etc).

At the center of a web of more powerful polities (Amn, Berdusk, Elturel, and Scornubel), Greenest stands independent.

Those spending time in the hamlet will see a richly-dressed southern merchant, one Jackard Marks, speaking to farmers, merchants, and other locals. He is assessing the lay of the lands, offering assistance in bringing goods to the hamlet, and otherwise aiding commerce as best he can with subtle references to Waukeen.

Careful and deliberate not to interfere with the livelihood of any existing locals, he is prepared with a large supply of foodstuffs to help supplement any shortfalls, and offers to scout and broker contracts with any artisans that may be needed in Greenest. "A rising tide raises all ships", he says.

Enjoying fishing in Rocky Creek within the first day of his arrival, it is said the first fish he caught was a Golden Trout. An auspicious sign for a follower of Waukeen!

Those passing through Greenest during the day, may see Solomon relaxing on the banks of Rocky Creek whittling some dice from old pieces of wood. He smiles as he teaches simple games to those that stop to chat. From time to time he offers a blessing to those that are on their way to market, but for the most part he is relaxing with a fishing pole while carving dice from driftwood.

In the evening he takes up a chair within the Inn. Drinking his supper and playing small games of chance with the locals. Mostly for copper and silver, but occasionally for a bit of gold. If Solomon happens to win he is sure to buy the unfortunate one a few rounds of drinks before they stumble home.

A southern merchant (Jackard Marks) has been seen about the market of Greenest, the commons of the Friendly Arm Inn, and the Wide in Baldur's Gate attempting to recruit adventuring bands, rangers, and farmers alike for a specific procurement project.

Still adjusting to more Northerly climes and conditions, Jackard would like to hire a group of resourceful folk to obtain native flora and fauna for his personal use. He provides a list from which to start, trade goods he has heard discussed in fast markets.

The gold offered would be commensurate with willingness to act quickly and scale with magnitude of completion. Those interested in hiring on should contact Jackard at the Greenest Inn.

Not long after the public posting of his requisition, a plain envelope addressed to one Jackard Marks is left at the counter of the Greenest Inn. The source is clearly, and cleanly, labelled as hailing from the Bridgefort camp of the Northern Watch. Within lies an equally sterile letter, although perhaps its contents are more emotive than anticipated...

Jackard,

Allow me to first extend a humble greeting, stranger, and express a hope that your endeavors find you a favorable wind. I write in search of a token that your guile and clout may provide: my need is for a new, blank book of sturdy construction with a red cover.

What I want for is nothing as simple as these words convey. I want for something precious. I want to feel my own heart race when I hold it in my hands, newly found, whether it be in fantasy of its future contents or fear of my inability to live up to its expectations.

I am in the midst of writing something, and it is admittedly a sad and ugly story. It is my sincere desire that the exterior be a thing so evocative, that if and when my scriven word proves wanting, the reader can still find pleasure in the beauty of its make.

In all of this, be sure that a gaudy or ostentatious thing will not do. Perhaps it is an impossible task, but I have faith in your connections and faith that my heart's desire exists somewhere.

In exchange, I may be able to extend my services as a woodsman in unearthing the herbs listed upon your notice when off-duty. If I prove too preoccupied in keeping the north secure --- a more sure thing than thunder and lightning themselves --- I will pay you in coins.

Honorably,
Batz. Borte-Suul

Jackard Marks, operating as the Rocky Creek Trade Company (named in honor of Rocky Creek, which runs through Greenest), has taken long-term rooms in the Greenest Inn & Tavern. At times operating out of a high-quality tent, he is seen buying and selling various items from passing adventurers.

He has quickly established himself as a regular in Orniff's taproom, and is known to buy a drink for most folk he comes across there.

A letter is delivered to one Jackard Marks of the Rocky Creek Trading Company, bearing the seal of the Northern Watch. Within the envelope is a folded letter of fine parchment, and written with a firm and practiced hand-

To Mr. Jackard Marks,

Glad greetings to you, I hope this missive finds you in both good health and spirits and with prosperous business. I am reaching out to you in regards to the food stuffs that you approached me about recently. I hope you will not mind my brevity on the matter, and also hope that these food stuffs are still available for purchase, as it is my intent to secure the entire lot.

I am uncertain if you are yet aware, but there is now an influx of refugees from the hamlet of Tymount after yesterday's evacuation, and attending to their care and comfort is a matter of rather immediate concern. Much of the initiative for their care is being handled via the Radiant Heart Chapterhouse, so if it is within the realm of your possibility to make delivery to them, it would be greatly appreciated. Given the distance of travel, if you require armed escort for the shipment, simply alert me via letter or sending and I will make myself and the Northern Watch available to you.

I will personally see to appropriate compensation of these foodstuffs, so if you wish to arrange a time of meeting to settle up, I will be at your immediate disposal. Correspondence may reach me by being delivered to the Bridgefort Tower in Boareskyr Bridge, however the most reliable and immediate way is to utilize a sending.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Respectfully,
Wren Di'Corvi

Over the next few days Solomon can be seen helping the inhabitants of Greenest get their village in order. Dragging benches back to where they belong, fixing carts that were overturned, repairing any damage to the houses that happened and fashioning a couple new doors for the front gate from timbers harvested along Uldoon's Trail.

He offers healing to the villagers, should they need it. He lets Dharva Scatterheart know that he is around if she needs him.

He offers to pay for the drinks of those that work to rebuild the village. Toasting them to a job well done each night they gather.

Rumors swirl about the Luckbringer being led out of the hamlet with his hands bound behind his back and a broad smile on his face. It was none other than the Commander of the Northern Watch and a couple of her soldiers that led the man out.

Later Solomon could be spotted with Jackard and Wren inside the tavern, dipping heavily into the cups.

Business appears to be brisk with those of the Rocky Creek Trade Company, with hunters and adventurers alike bringing in goods for paid bounties.

It may be rumored that several lone travelers have visited to drop off furs, meat, and herbs in the last tenday.

In particular, a small band of men may have been spied leading horses along the Uldoon Trail filled with trade goods, then spending the next several hours peacefully drinking and toasting to their shared successes with the company's men in Orniff's tavern.

Another horse, this flanked by men appearing in hunting leathers, arrive in Greenest to be welcomed by Jackard and Solomon. After unloading meat, furs, and herbs, the men toast to shared successes in Orniff's tavern late into the evening.

The Rocky Creek Trade Company continues to bring trade to the hamlet of Greenest.

Preparations are being made in Greenest for the pending arrival of new settlers, tradesmen and their families displaced from Tymount.

The men of Rocky Creek Trade Company can be seen overseeing the final touches, ensuring that all will be in place once they've arrived.

Solomon can be seen walking the village, helping those that need it with chores around their farms. Splitting and stacking firewood, clearing snow from the porches and feeding the livestock to name a few. He might also be seen helping the village children construct a snowman near the village center. Offering up a couple of minor gems to make the face.

He offers healing to those that require it. Comfort to those need it. Sermons to those that will listen.

"She smiles on us all. She shows it in the luck we have found in each other. Good fortune in the love that we all share with this community. In small victories we accomplish with the help of one another during the winter months. You are all blessed with Luck. Just look around, you'll see it in the birth of a child, the health of your livestock and the warmth in your hearts. Tymora watches over Greenest and its people. I know this is true when I look upon all of you."

Word spreads along the small town of Greenest and the Uldoon Trail that a young aasimar druidess has taken title received by Dharva Scatterheart. Role of this title would be “The Druidess of Greenest.

Often times the citizens would see the young druidess wandering about the town. Though her visits within the facilities are scarce, her presence along the wood line and trails is noted as she often times collects berries and flora for the citizens of her newfound home.

Most times she is escorted by a hooded figure garbed in cloths and what looked to be a hikers backpack = a traveler by sorts. He can be seen escorting her wherever she goes. His appearance is usually friendly but reserved.

Lastly, the rumors would entail how the Druidess is attempting to bring back a balance to Greenest as she has been attempting to collect rare flora in the area – pertaining to this “balance”.
