A parchment is posted upon the Bulletin Board outside the Elfsong Tavern. Similar parchments may been seen or acquired with the Eastern District, the Palace District, as well as within the currently shrinking Refugee Camp in the Eastern Farmlands. Rumor floats that some similarly written parchments have made their way to certain Temples and Chapterhouses....
A Cause for
a New Tymount...
.

A Cause for a New Tymount

Good People of Baldur's Gate, Faithful to Triad, Believers in Justice, Honor and Courage~

I, Henryk of house Urde, Sword of Tyr and knight errant to the Temple of the Just God of Baldur's Gate, do summon you to the idea of the fulfillment of a Peoples desire to regain their homelands, reclaim their birthing grounds and in defense of the elders that spirit-walk the grounds of so many families passed....

It is a New Tymount, the future that is presented to you now, in league with the Mayor Gillan of Tymount and the many Peoples of this township that have, for Tendays of great number, held steadfast against the condition of Refugee, and now, still, after harsh winter and the latest word that their home, Tymount, has been destroyed...they YET STILL yearn to reclaim what was lost. This is courage seen in a most divine light, inspirational, and worth directing support to seeing a thing manifest.

For that thing shall be a New Tymount, one rebuilt under compensation through rights after wrong, and through the initiative of compassionate souls of Baldur's Gate and the greater Sword Coast, that understand with faithful conviction that suffering can be healed, through true acts of just vengeance.

It is true that many of the Tymount citizens have taken up new livelihoods in the reality of the only options left or offered, until now...but having spoken with the Mayor Gillan who speaks true of his People's desires, and knowing that the young and fit and earnest of the Tymount-that-was seek to take up arms in order to fight back against the Evil that has displaced. If one is of courage to fight against the Devils to reclaim their honor, than one is worthy of gaining that which is the greatest loss. I beseech you to understand there is no greater gift given to one that has lost, than that of a returned honor.

Honor is found within homelands. Homelands being the People's strength.

Thus I, Henryk a Sword of Tyr, along with the People of Tymount that still hold up banner in Honor of the Name, petition you to pull resource and Faith toward backing a New Tymount, one that can rise from the destruction laid to it when dust has cleared, and one where a Faithful and Practical relationship with the City of Baldur's Gate shall bridge a greater Lawfulness along the Coast Way, the Trade Way, and beyond.

To this end, you may consult further with the Temple of Tyr, myself in diplomatic development, and with the Mayor Gillan, shall you seek him, for he continues to be the ear, eye and mouth of his remaining People, who are faith bound to a future tied and strengthened by the past.

Signed,
Be Sharp the Sword of Justice

A tall, well dressed man of golden hair and matching eyes is seen speaking briefly with the Fist Guard outside the Flaming Fist HQ, before heading inside with a parchment in hand. He emerges a minute later, sans parchment.

The stroll back through the streets is a leisurely one, a jaunty tune catching on the wind in the man's wake.

Yesterday the Necromancer known as Morgan blackrose was arrested and handed over to the Fist. The man known as Gaven and a Woman known as Victoria escorted her to the Fist HQ in the Palace district. Rumor has it she turned herself over but to what end is the question that hangs on everyones tongue. She now sits in the jail awaiting her trial and the inevitable end which is to come.

Once again, on a boring little street in an otherwise non-descript house of a residence clump in the Harbor district, the evening brings a new life to it. For on this night, like others before it, out file the local ladies of a Knitting Circle, mostly elderly, from their own homes, clutching home sewn leather and fabric bags. They make their way to this one particular house, greeted by one of their member, each welcomed warmly at the door. A particular halfling lady known in these parts would be seen to have joined them this evening, like others before. A man servant would be seen to follow her carrying a small wooden crate that would audibly tinkle to those nearby. Shortly after arriving, the man servant would leave empty handed. Those walking past the home would hear friendly banter well into the night.

Visiting the various taverns and inn's in Baldur's Gate over a couple of days, the Silverstar bardess Shandril Brightmantle can be heard performing her newest song. Draped in a light skyblue tunic with thigh-high white leather boots and adorned with a snow-tiger mantle, she plays a lute in an upbeat tempo as she tried to get the patrons and guests of each establishment to clap along or pick up on the chorus.

I have serenaded moonlight,
As I strolled along the sea,
But what transpired on this fateful night,
Should never come to be,

For as sailors proud and boastful,
Are measured by their worth,
When storms the ship envelop,
Some never leaves the berth,

O' ive beheld yet such a coward,
In most recent tragic days,
When a pirates words ring hollow,
He is first to leave the fray,

Hey listen up you in the back!
Come dance along to a sailors track!
Its time to revel as the pirates hurl!
Have you heard of Karn who ran from a girl!

He could lay down whole a nation,
If his words were ever true,
So when he offered accomodations,
Insisted I should join his crew,

I felt in my mind rejection,
But no word were ever said,
As his poisonous infection,
Of words that I should fret,

Trading only offered insults,
My companion he would taunt,
He did not yet know the results,
Of his boastfulness and flaunts.

Hey listen up you in the back!
Come dance along to a sailors track!
Its time to revel as the pirates hurl!
Have you heard of Karn who ran from a girl!

As snowflakes fell in mountains cold,
I had diverted from my path,
Inspiration came to me like gold,
When he unleashed his wrath,

For this mighty dreadful pirate,
That I now met here once again,
Had withdrawn his former offer,
He would no longer be my friend,

Rather he would bring me back by force,
To tie me to his mast,
His squeeky little voice grew hoarse,
As he yelled avast!

Hey listen up you in the back!
Come dance along to a sailors track!
Its time to revel as the pirates hurl!
Have you heard of Karn who ran from a girl!

His crew came leaping from his side,
To carry out his will,
Yet of our boastful pirate captains pride,
This next part gives me thrill,

For you see his crew gave quite a fight,
Of him that cant be said,
For while his men gave both their blood and life,
Our pirate Captain fled,

So these must be joyful sailing days,
When all is said and done,
For when pirates run from little girls,
There's something in the rum,

To those in the audience inquiring about the truth of this song, the bardess would state every word is true and some might even do the pirate more justice than he deserves.

It was a rather rowdy evening at the Blushing Mermaid when the Selunite performed her song. A lone, one-eyed man sat in the corner of the tavern, his back to the wall, a bottle of Wyvern on his table. At first, he seemed rather disinterested, the woman's voice battling the clamour of the locale. As the song went on, amusement seemed more evident upon his features with every verse. By the song's end he was laughing, ordering drinks for the locals and demanding an encore. Any potentially displeased sailors, attempting to display their displeasure with more than just sour glances, were given a drink and a knowing look of his own.

The Blushing Mermaid is busy that night it seems. A fairly non-descript woman watches, neither encouraged or dispaired at the performance. When the song is done and the crowd are being treated to drink she quietly moves to the door, a cowl about her head, she turns away from the one eyed man at just the right time to deny her face. She appears to be headed for the door and is gone from sight all too quickly.

A particular halfling lady, dressed in burgundy finery, of well known repute would be at a table in the Mermaid, accompanied by business partners, that very same evening of the ill famed inaugural presentation of the glorious ballad.
Pausing her engrossing banter with her companions briefly so she could better listen to the tale told, she would pay interest in the lyrics sung.
At the close of the ballad, she'd cast a cursory look about the room briefly appraising the others present and their physical response before returning her attention to her immediate party.

A dwarf dressed in hides could be seen tossing several mugs of ale back as he loudly told his story to all that would hear at the Elfsong Tavern...

“It were a patrol, I tell ye! Asked a man'o tha Northern Watch if'n he wanted some company along 'is road, I did! Tha' feller can work sum magic wit' 'is skinny arsed swords. If'n I din't see it meself, t'would ne'er 'ave believed it!It were flashes'o steel and fury, I'mma tell'n ye.”

The stout stood up and downed his mug of ale, holding it out for one of the patrons to refill for him...

“Gods be damned snakes. Ye 'eard me right! Snakes what walk an' slither. Tha' bastard Aiden saved me life mur'than a few times along'da road ta'tha temple. Good feller, that! Ye know ole Tholgur 'as mur drink'n ta do!”

He lets out a loud laugh, clanging his mug against one of the gathered, spilling ale as they met.

“We's fought through tha' bloody temple, side b'side! Me wit' me bolts and 'im with 'is steel! Put'n 'em down in piles'o slop, bodies twitch'n as we pressed on, faller'n the path through. I's think'n we wadn't gonna make it! Tha' Aiden feller jus' smiled at me wit a look'n 'is eyes. Ye be know'n tha look. A feller tha' seen it....all'o it. Mur than once.”

Tholgur gulps down what remains in his mug, slamming it down on the table.

“If'n I be lyin, I'mma dyin! We's both back'n one piece. We be show'n a bit'o bruises and cuts, but tha' be the fun'o it”

He sits at the table once more, showing a calm and steady look to those that are still listening to his tale.

“Dun't ye be mess'n wit'dem Watchers'o tha North! They be doin a job fer ye all! If'n ye see one, dun't ye make eye contact wit 'em. Jus' be say'n yer thank you's and be on yer way. Shite! Drop a bottle at they feet! It be the least ye can do!”

Tholgur spent the rest of the evening spinning stories with the people in the tavern. Trying to get a free ale fom those that would spare it.

During the last and long upcoming days, the cheerful warrior and Bladestone Foundation Headmaster known as Derik Ranloss makes way to the city of Baldur’s Gate for the morning of every other day. There he meets with a prepared regiment of Flaming fist and City Watch recruits, leading them in basic combat classes.

The first several lessons would be mostly drills. These drills would consist of two things, foot work and shield work. How to get your shield into place while keeping yourself mobile enough to move. This would be for both self-defense as well as watching the back of and the flanks of their compatriots.

As days progress, the lessons would turn to drawing and handling weapons. Being aware of your personal space so that when swung , a weapon doesn’t hit companions or anyone but the intended target. More so, Derik then imparts awareness of how and when you are vulnerable to flanking and ambushes.

The third set of lessons would combine these into formations for both smaller and larger combat units. How to capitalize on varying weapons in the team and combine them, spears, swords, crossbows, for maximum efficiency in close quarters one would likely find in the streets and buildings of a large city.

Lastly, the series of lesson plans would conclude with personal mastery of chosen style. Once the recruits have the basics of how to work together, Derik would show them how to individually pursue and master their particular weapon combination both offensively and defensively. This would also include how to maximize combat effectiveness in the immediate personal space around the individual fighting both a single or multiple opponents.

The elegant sun-elf fencer carrying proudly name Lylan’Synor Syr’Asiryn would then follow with lessons after Derik in the evening of the same days.

Her lessons would focus at first on physical and mental fitness, putting the soldiers through their paces and explaining the chaos of combat as well as how to keep your head steady and on your shoulders, so to say.

As the training goes on, the elven fencer would continue her lessons in the example of the Bladestone Headmaster and her training shifts towards proper movement through and around allied and enemy troops to not disrupt your allies and avoid enemies. Her training is much more centered around proper body work and she would even force the recruits to learn basic rhythm and dance steps explaining and proving later, how much, they can keep one of harm’s way, especially without shield. This whole block of lessons would culminate in proper training of parry and counterstrike moves and stances.

As the whole course for selected regiment nears it’s end and Derik Ranloss focuses on specifics of each weapon groups, Lylan’Synor likewise gives more attention to light weapons and fight without shield. Training them in the style of not brute force but finesse and combat centered around precision and misdirection which allows for creating openings and searching for enemy’s weaknesses.

Finally, Kaylee, the newest addition to Bladestone Foundation’s lecturers would appear on every day in between Derik and Lylan’Synor’s lessons and spend hours repeating, training and imprinting the courses taught by her peers.
She would go through the finer and more complicated material over again to make sure it is properly written in the minds and bodies of the City’s recruits.
Her teaching style would be very similar to Lylan’Synor’s and even through her initial slight nervousness, she would soon find her footing as the first set of courses comes by.

In the background there can often be seen the read headed Administrator lurking between the troops and watching the lessons as Niyressa often accompanies the lecturers, making sure everything goes smoothly and helping when it’s needed. After many of the lessons she would meet with the officers who manage the recruits outside of Bladestone’s care and ask them if there is anything the find lacking in their new recruits.

It is a small world that they lived in and it didn't take long for word of the selûnite's play to find its desired mark. It was during another such performance that a mousy-looking urchin girl approached the entertainer with an outstretched hand, message clasped between her grubby fingers. A simple invitation, summoning the bard to Roaringshore to deliver her performance before the entire council of the High Captains within a fortnight's time.

If pressed for answers the girl would simply open her mouth, revealing a cauterized stump in place of a tongue. She doesn't linger for a tip and instead bolts straight out of the seedy establishment's door after the delivery is made. Vanishing inside the bustling crowd without so much as a trace.
