Wildshape Elder Elemental form??

Unread post by Steve »

Hello,
Does anyone have experience with the Elder Elemental forms for Druid's Wildshape? Are they worth it? Or would it be better to forgo the Elder Elemental, since a build I'm considering would eventually get Magical Beast Shape? Because for those 4 Levels between Elemental Form at Druid 16 and Elder Elemental at Druid 20, I could invest into a PrC or something that has a very good mechanical return. Cheers.

Out of all the Elder Elemental shapes Earth and Water elemental are decent. However, you can take Epic Elemental Shape at 21 I believe and they are all worth it in my opinion. They all have their own abilities that are on CD, same goes for Epic Animal Shape.

Water elemental Elder is a killer on the server, until you get dragon (but yeh as stated not going that route). No experience with magical beasts.

Epic Elemental Shape?!? What is this you speak? Is it a real thing?

Honestly, I'm torn between choices, because the way I have to make the build to fit 3b20 rules, the Elder Elemental shape wouldn't arrive until Level 28 or 30, and by then the build would have picked up Magical Beast Shape. Not to forget to mention having had access to Shapechange spell since Level 20, which as we all know is the shizznizzle of Spells.

With coming so late in the build, I wonder if there would be any Content left in order to really utlize the Elder stats. Because if it would be mostly RP potential at that point, the regular Elemental shapes would suffice just fine.

Shapechange Spell is the (#2)? Is that a different one than the wizards one? Cause that felt mediocre at best so far....

Polymorph, a Level 4 spell, is middling at best. Only 2, maybe 3, shapes that won’t get your PC killed in melee.

Shapechange, however, the Level 9 spell, has 6–7 shapes that are steam rollers, depending on the Build that is built to maximize the semi-unique aspects of each shape.

I've tried to test them out I've seen fire giant being used a lot... Tried turning into an Iron Golem... Instantly killed me, guess having 2 con items and one with toughness on it didn't help...
