We bear the responsibility for the types of characters we create and the types of OOC concessions we're willing to make, given the medium in which we are playing.
If you want to have a better time, choose characters whose role play isn't completely dischordant with how the server actually works, allow for more OOC concessions (i.e. a more liberal suspension of disbelief or stronger commitment to ignoring the weirdness that comes from playing in a persistent world), or go play on a hardcore role play server. Most of what has been suggested used to exist at one time or another in the NWN2 universe. Perhaps it still does?
You are the architect of your own happiness on the server. You know how the server works, thus it is up to you whether you can find enjoyment.
Play a character who doesn't fear death because of OOC admin choices on how the server is set up??? That doesn't expose flaws in the server. It exposes flaws in your approach to the server.

I remember a suggestion that was made a while ago around perm death token that you could get at lvl 1 from an npc in the nexus. If you take that token and you die once the character dies permanently.
I would very much like to have that.

I have a perfect solution, killing two birds with one stone:
Those who want permadeath can have it and fix the setting. They can RP peasants who can't afford raise dead and resurrection while the rest of the players can play their larger than life level 30 demigods. Problem solved.

I had seen this earlier and thought "Yeah, an alternative."Xanfyrst wrote: Then having the rule is pointless and should be removed.
If Permastrikes as a DM "tool" in Events and the Server Wide Campaign(s) are unused, and even unwanted, then better to make a change such as their removal.
Then we all will know the EXACT paradigm in which we're gaming.

That's not in the budget, Tekill. We can't afford that many Raise Dead scrolls.Tekill wrote:Vote for me and I will give everyone a raise dead scroll.

Re: Would u still play on BGTSCC if yr Toon had only "X" Lives?
Since I am only playing a single character and for me it's about building up stories I am not really interested in the perma death thrill at the moment.
Might change if I play on the server for longer and feel like I am growing tired of the way I am playing but I think then I'd probably rather stop playing all together than playing with this perma death thing.
I am by no means saying it is bad, I think it's great that the guys that like it can have their thrill but yea for me it's currently not interesting.
I hope it doesn't lead to tension between players that don't have that option on and those that do. I could see that feeling very bad for the player at risk especially in pvp.
Hopefully people will find like-minded and have fun together.

Re: Would u still play on BGTSCC if yr Toon had only "X" Lives?
The good thing is that at least usually, PvP does not result in you being flung to Myrkul without some NPC intervention. So there's that.
I personally tend to play with as little risk of dying as possible no matter whether it has consequences or no, as dying causes all sorts of annoying little moments to RP away.
As is, I am playing out (at the moment) that my main toon has died once, and is very adamant about not repeating the experience even after she was lucky enough to be brought back quickly. Resurrective magic -is- a thing in the setting, but not one that is used as often as we usually do in the game.
I also tend to avoid PvP anyways, cuz it's mostly futile with the current way it's handled and only leads to upset people But hey, to each their own. If I die, so be it.

Probably not, with my luck regarding save or die spell and the occasional death caused by lag, I probably would have given up a while ago due to making no progress.
