Petrified again...
I know this has been brought up a million times in all likelihood.. but.. Seeing as it is still a thing.. please fix this.. It's just stupidly annoying.. Isn't fun for anyone.. And means we have to metagame in order to keep playing...

Mmm, right click it and open in a new window, but long story short,... i got turned to stone while in stealth.. Which you should be familiar with since last time it happened I was with you.

First off, you could elaborate what, exactly, petrified you while you are in stealth high enough that players can't spot you? I'm mostly fascinated by that, and wondering.
Second, petrification being permanent is not something I see as a "bug" to be fixed. It -should- definitely break stealthing, though.

I have try to be Petrified while i was Invisible but what skills of spot and listens do a beholder have?

Once upon a time I was exploring a dungeon and encountered a beholder boss who immediately petrified me. He then slowly beat me up until I reached negative hitpoints, at which point he left me alone, I stabilized, and slowly regenerated back to full hitpoints. I remained petrified. The beholder continued to ignore me and eventually despawned, leaving me totally alone in the bottom level of a dungeon, unable to move, unable to die.
So there I was, a new statue in this beholder's treasure room, permanently petrified and no longer able to play my character. Eventually I was rescued, but permanent petrificiation is probably unnecessary.

We should certainly try to make sure petrification removes stealth and invisibility when it's applied. (Though I think players should be able to cast Invisibility on statues after they've been petrified to protect their defenseless allies.)

I'm not saying it is a bug.. but I don't see any purpose in anything being a perma effect on the server.. Is there an actual purpose to that? Where you can't do anything till server reset unless you die or are rescued? it seems really needless and prone to issues. And Beholders have a really high spot.. like over 80 I am sure.. I'm sure the pit fiend's spot is probably quite high too.

Also yeah, this was a bit of a rage post.. Second time this has happened to me in a couple weeks. Last time I relogged to try to fix it and when I did it unequipped a few of my items lowering my hide further and allowing nightstars to spot me, so he was able to save me.

Well then make it apply 10% HP damage every rounds. No more waiting.
Believe it or not, I'Ve played a character that Actually used Flesh to stone to petrify monsters and sometimes players to just stop them or pass them and go on.
When its VS a player, I would just unstone them and tell em "You can stay petrified or you can be unstoned and you lost the PvP duel.
As for people being petrified by monsters, I truly believe the spell should damage players a large amount so they are killed instead of waiting.
The choices are these: Wait and hope for someone to save you, or die and lose xp.

Remaining stealth after being petrified is certainly a bug if that's happening. (We should probably strip Invisibility too; it just makes sense.) Those I'm treating as bugs.
Whether or not the PC should remain petrified indefinitely is something that merits discussion. Certainly, knowing that there's something which might petrify you is a good reason to RP and meet with other players to tackle the area together. However, being "locked out" of your PC until reset because you failed a save can be pretty brutal, and there may be IC reasons that your PC is alone in an area where they can get petrified.
There was, at one point, a system that made your PC's HP slowly drain while you were petrified, but it's not happening anymore. I forget why that was added and I'm not sure why it was removed.

Yeah i guess being stealthed still is a bit of a bug. I still think even if that were fixed, a perma effect is pointless.. in fact, it only works on PCs since NPCs will despawn.. I can see other times where this will cause a problem. If you kill the NPC at the same time as it petrifies you or something like what happened to whatsittoya. Like I said.. it is just prone to issues.
Really though.. just being reasonable, if it lasted 3 rounds per level or something.. anything that is going to kill you will have killed you at that point.. If your alone you are just going to log out and be frustrated if it last longer or you'll wait 20-30 minutes for it to wear off and be frustrated. Death is always frustrating.. but this is a different type of frustrating
Yep.. but the punishment should be death and xp loss.. not "I can't play my character for a few hours". Also, it can be used in PvP to grief. I believe Petrify works differently in PvP, so you can't keep a player petrified indefinitely. Perhaps someone less ignorant than me can provide clarity there.

the thing is the beholder have a high spot skills that beat any one that go stealth if you not have 100 in hide skills and high in listen so coming it is not a bug
