Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
In the early morning just before dawn's break, as the fishermen of the docks make their way down to the docks to fish for the city in earnest of the cities needs, the Heartwarder makes her appearance and gives prayers and blessings culminating with a prayer of Heroes' Feast. She encourages them to eat well and hardy for the next hour before making their way out to sea, hoping the bolstering food will improve their catches for the day. The next day, she chooses a different crew, and performs the same rites, and soon this is a habit in the early mornings.

Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
Two Tethyrians made their way into the Ilmateri temple and shared a vegetable stew served in humble wooden bowls with some fresh baked bread. They are and spoke, reminisced of a life left behind in a shattered kingdom and other topics such as Fathers and the lack of salt in Baldurian cuisine.
They spoke for what seemed hours and it was good to break bread with a fellow a kinsman.

Quivers loaded the Radiant Scout, checked out with the Master at Arms stating that he was heading out in the Ductal Lands to take count of the available game out in the woods to take stock on which herds can be hunted without affecting future numbers.
He also made his way into the shadows of the surrounding Forrests to check for any excessive poaching. Checking to make sure that poachers where not laying traps that would bring unnecessary suffering to the game found around Baldur’s Gate.

[Baldur's Gate Crisis] Help all who hurt, no matter who they are.

=[Baldur's Gate Crisis] Help all who hurt, no matter who they are.=
A simple cart carrying crates of simple food and healing supplies moves from the Temple of Ilmater into the Docks District, a Knight wearing the symbols of Torm and the deities of the Triad is guiding it through its course. With him a frail young woman in rags, her breath and steps are heavy but she keeps walking treasuring an Ilmatari cracked locket in her hands.
They stop by various locations between the Eastern District and The Harbor, the Knight unloads the crates and baskets full of bread and vegetables then stands next to the young Caretaker helping her distribute rations of food to the needy, even through the limited amount of supplies. A large amount of what was stored in the miserable cart is offered to the population of the Harbor and those who are far from the Temple, or cannot reach it anymore by their own means.
The caretaker of the Temple is said to spend much time with women and children, offering healing and surgery, checking on their health and offering pieces of old rags for the winter to come. It might be a poor consolation for those who have nothing. She offers the blessings of "The Welcoming" to women worried for their newborn children.
After the food has been distributed and left the wagon empty the Knight and the Caretaker speak words of hope and endurance for those who struggle and suffer, warning about the harsh times to come, before moving back to the Temple in the East District. It is said that the Temple of Ilmater would provide guidance and succor to all who ask, within the meager means of the Temple, but with the warmth compassion provides.

Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
A notice is posted on the east gate board and in the docks district.
((Feel free to send a message to me via the forums on the forums or contact in game!~))
The winter is rolling in and there is the chance the city may have a major vein of trade closed off from the encroaching ice. Under normal circumstances this would be nothing irregular, but with caravans having increasing difficulty reaching the gate it may be prudent to put forward an effort this winter to keep the docks open and running through the season.
The Temple of Gond is enlisting the aid of any capable artisans, engineers, or other craftspeople who may be able to put our minds together to come up with a solution, if not permanent at least for this year.
Contact Shaeth Galeas via Sending spell for details and to schedule a meeting. Alternatively, a letter to her at the Temple of Gond or a note left here will suffice for her to get in contact with you.
Experience with naval engineering is an additional asset.

The cart loses its supplies rather quickly, as a small crowd- of people both very poor and not quite as poor- gathers to the two Triad worshippers in between the East District and the Harbour. However, there's notably much less traction within the Harbour itself. Most are unwilling to accept handouts from the "in the end will judge how they live and order their lives."Alexander Holgart wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 3:11 am

As with the women and children- it is as one might expect. Too much work, too few hands and supplies to work with it. Though it might describe the entire initiative.

Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
The first few attempts are met with confusion and rejection- the hardy dockworkers don't trust strange, sunite magic that creates an opulent and rich feast fit for nobles. After a few days some more hunger-driven fishermen decide to partake in it and report to feel "Like I've never destroyed my liver with whiskey!" So far, though, only some fishermen crew accept her feast fit for heroes.Anrilor wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 12:52 am In the early morning just before dawn's break, as the fishermen of the docks make their way down to the docks to fish for the city in earnest of the cities needs, the Heartwarder makes her appearance and gives prayers and blessings culminating with a prayer of Heroes' Feast. Tongues are wagging across the taverns in Harbour that the High Lady is "doing it only for a show like all sunites do".

Despite the rumors and waggling tongues, the Heartwarder continues to make her presence on the docks, and repeats the feast for all who would partake in it, hoping that no food would be wasted. Those that do partake and enjoy the restorative and moral boosting feast, she asks them to spread the word as far as they can, to get more to participate until the table is full each morning. Outside of the created feast, she also brings with her each morning a crate of fresh baked bread, and pastry confections that steam in the brisk morning air, she leaves the crate in the docks after the feast concludes, for any to come and claim it.DM Soulcatcher wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 6:29 pmThe first few attempts are met with confusion and rejection- the hardy dockworkers don't trust strange, sunite magic that creates an opulent and rich feast fit for nobles. Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
On a bitterly cold Harborside morning, burly and surly workers struggled to keep pace with this particularly busy time of freight-shipping; the last several days before freezing temperatures would complicate matters large and small on the Chionthar.
Into this flurry-obscured scene strode the titanic half-orc, Rhaeg. He found a few younger men struggling with the sheer weight of the crates and boxes loaded on and off a ship, and uttered a single, gravelly sentence.
"Need a hand?"
--
It wasn't a wholly charitable gesture; he'd requested "ten minutes of the Harbor's time" in exchange for his indefatigable hill giant-like strength to bring to bear against the back-breaking labor. A viable trade, most had decided.
Hours later, a number of workers and some curious family members had gathered inside a drafty warehouse, lit by burning oil. Rhaeg placed one foot upon a barrel and leaned forward to ask of them his end of the agreement. Elevated over them only by his natural height, he cleared his throat.

Hours later, a number of workers and some curious family members had gathered inside a drafty warehouse, lit by burning oil. Rhaeg placed one foot upon a barrel and leaned forward to ask of them his end of the agreement. Elevated over them only by his natural height, he cleared his throat.
Rhaeg wrote:We're all cold, tired, hungry… overdue for a forthcomin' hangover, or some combination've all those. I'll try t'brief, with that in mind.
It should go without saying, but what we accomplished here today - all of us - is the very lifeblood of what we call our "civilization". It's somethin' built on mutual growth and exchange - so that we all benefit.
Of course, some have far more to gain in these exchanges than others. That's where these… divisions stem from.
Charity has its place, and it's not the wrong sort've thing to do. But it's a countermeasure - a tar. It's meant to tar over and secure th'weaknesses of th'structure of the container in question; like this warehorse in which we're freezin' our stones off in, heh.
-- But it's worth takin' a step back and seein' these little charity efforts for that Tar that they are. They're a splint on a broken leg without the time invested to heal. They're a solid surface to shore up th'cracked vessel that we refuse to replace.
And you, collectively, know both who's in charge of th'vessel in question, and th'impetus that a large group've you have in trying to make that change happen. Good, that's good.
Now, surprisingly, I can't promise you miracles. I can't just wave my hands and serve you a sumptuous banquet table. But think about what this charitable effort symbolizes for th'system, the vessel in question.
The upper-crust are resorting to actual Divine Miracles to try to alleviate these tensions, as opposed to changing the way their society functions, and t'whom it disproportionately benefits.
There are three things I want you to think about tonight, as you cherish your time with your families and loved ones.
Firstly, that you and I are all more than th'circumstances of our origins. Maybe some of you have dreams sidelined by th'necessity of "someone" needing to do the work - and what better motivation than choosing between working and starving?
Secondly, that you and I are more than the blood, sweat, and tears that we shed. Our lives hold an innate value. Life itself has the right to exist and thrive. But it needs to be nurtured the right way, and it's difficult when all the benefits of our civilization don't equitably enrich us.
Lastly, that you and I, "as much" as we are, are so much more with the help of one another. We all took part in lifting, pushing, pulling, organizing… even I couldn't have done it without all of your help.
I'm well aware that actions speak a lot louder'n words, including the ones I'm sharing with you now. But that's why I'm askin' only one night of reflection so that, should you want to listen to me blather on some more, we, together, can determine what actions to be put before words like these.
Thank you. Goodnight.

Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
The Heartwarder makes ready one last feast at the docks in the morning. For those that attend, she makes it known it will be her last meal of the gods provided to those on the docks, however, that any in need that make it known to the Halls or arrives in the temple will never be turned away, and a meal provided at no cost to any that to not bare a title. If asked if the rumors or lack there of attendance at the feasts is the cause, she simply gives a somber look of defeat, with a small nod.Anrilor wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 8:59 pmDespite the rumors and waggling tongues, the Heartwarder continues to make her presence on the docks, and repeats the feast for all who would partake in it, hoping that no food would be wasted. Caravans could be seen making their way through the farmland to the North gate. Once they made it through they would stop at the halls of Inner light where they were unloaded.

Quiet whispers spread that the caravan contained food among other supplies

Re: Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate
After her extended morning hours at the harbor pointing, discussing, shouting, cajoling, coaxing, and bargaining with the overworked crews, stevedores, and haulers moving goods from wharf to warehouse, Carah Evenwood and barkeeper Joy Elspeth are seen in the early afternoon from the Wide market in the East Gate District just outside of the Darius Estate. Both women dressed in simple unadorned working clothes, sleeves rolled up past their elbows, they diligently work with buckets of steaming soapy water and stiff bristled brushes to scrub the graffiti-tagged words Fiend Lovers off of the edifice.
It takes them several hours to complete. Carah herself seemed to be in... less than a pleasant mood about the vandalism, to put it rather lightly.

Witnesses say the half-elf stood and awaited the Flaming Fist to arrive and was escorted from there to the Flaming Fist fortress in the Harbor District. Later the half-elf was seen with his Captain being escorted off Ducal lands...
