Ki step rendered non-functional by Dimensional Lock
Further testing is required but so far I've found that Ki-step is negatively impacted by the use of Dimensional lock (AoE version). I am unsure if this extends to the shadowdancer capstone ability as well.

I think this is intended, as both Abundant Step (the P&P basis for Ki-Step) and Shadow Jump are Supernatural abilities that directly cite the spell Dimension Door.

Re: Ki step rendered non-functional by Dimensional Lock
I think this is only fair, after these dimensional locks made Dimension Door a trash spell in most zones.
I think its a real shame though, since these abilities/spells were used by some people in combat too, not just to cheese dungeons and areas. So if the dimension door gets obstructed from usage in every zone, I dont think its fair similar abilities that can bypass content should be allowed usage in those zones either.
But ideally these dimensional locks just shouldnt be there at all imo. cant say I understand the logic behind, besides preventing teleportation.
Durlags Tower got dimensional locks all the place, a few days after it was explained how you can bypass half the puzzles and run the whole place in 20 mins. But why?
I do not understand this mentality of inconvenience and hindering peoples fun, builds and activities. Especially when more attractive zones dont have the same restrictions.. Tfunke made one hell of an awesome dungeon in durlag, almost a like for like from the Tales of the Sword Coast, but its not an attractive place to visit besides a quest run. And has been less and less attractive over the years, which I find a real shame, since its one of the best designed dungeons on the whole server. But half its attractive high level content is quest-gated and now prohibited access entirely outside of this.
Meanwhile you still just do all this shit with a Thief Acrobat no problem. It makes no sense to me that a burglar can bypass walls and use "force jump" to leap inhuman distances while dimension doors fizzle. Or that you can teleport to the Earth Elemental in the Forest of Wyrms and the dragons, in the time it takes to even run up to Durlags tower from its outskirts.
There is little consistency or logic to these limitations or lack there of and thats what frustrates me. Either from a design PoV make them non usable, if they ruin the dungeons.. or accept that some characters have different solutions to different problems. But the inconsistency is just weird.

Re: Ki step rendered non-functional by Dimensional Lock
The logic of if X is fun and not allowed then Y which is also fun should not be allowed is flawed.
Secondly Ki-step requires a significant investment on the character sheet as opposed to dimensional door which is a no brainer move for mobility requiring only 15 umd which everyone should be building into.
Edit:
The change to make dimensional door unusable in Teleport warded areas was also ass, though this post was meant to point out that the dimensional lock spell prevented Ki-step which is in game not a transpostion like teleport/blink/D-door but treated as a rapid movement that requires a viable path from point a to b to travel along.
Edit the second:
Wiki Discription of the feat
https://wiki.bgtscc.net/index.php?title=Ki_Step
You expend three daily uses of your Stunning Fist feat as an instant action to immediately move to the targeted location (You must be able to normally reach the selected destination). To observers you are quicker than the wind and faster than the eye can see. If this ability was last used more than two turns (minutes) ago, one use of your stunning fists is refunded. If it was not used before, or you have rested in the mean time, no refund is granted.
Ki Step requires line of sight and a working path to target a location, and is limited to a certain line of sight distance.

It needs some kind of counter, ki step is a powerful ability. Glad dim lock blocks it.

Re: Ki step rendered non-functional by Dimensional Lock
Working as intended.
I do want to take a look at how teleport impede blocks many movement-oriented features in endgame areas, though. It's frustrating how a fun mechanic (and an invested feature or even capstone class feature for some classes) doesn't work in many areas where you'd actually want to use it for battlefield movement.
