Temple of Kossuth, Gullykin

Since there's no functioning faction or guild of Kossuth, I'm putting it into Sword Coast Roleplay. Treat it as any other [location RP] thread.

Chanting at the Temple

After his recent arrival to the Temple, the Kossuthan engages in the firewalking fervently and with passionate zeal. Occasional burns from those rare moments the fires burn too hot even for him to endure seem to bother the man not. What's peculiar, burn marks the flames leave on his skin heal on their own fast enough to put even the head priest's healing abilities to shame.The new disciple spends hours in meditation and prayer over the flame and also takes it upon himself to compose new chants and litanies for the Temple. Reluctant to embrace these additions at first, acolytes eventually find them to their liking, and some of the works are included in the Temple's routine. Many voices proclaim them in unison, huge drums are beaten, and the Temple is filled with eerie chants of the worshippers of the Firelord each day at sunrise.

It is rumoured that inhabitants of Gullykin prefer to avoid leaving their homes on days when the chanting gets the most fervent and reaches the village from the mountains as halflings find it rather unnerving. The words of litanies heard coming from the Temple go as follows:

Set the world on fire; burn down the seeds of pain!
Set the world on fire; destroy what destroys you!
Set the world on fire; revolt against the regime of shame!
Set the world on fire; nothing in this world is true!

Having heard the chanting from the temple as she sat up the hill towards the Halfing Village, the tiefling known as Na'Karia who held the title of Righteous Flame with the temple. Among being favored by Kossuth, though she still didn't understand why on that part.

Though as she listened to the chanting from outside the temple, her mind thought of the three branches of the Church of Kossuth. She was apart of one, so this chanting must have been connected to the Salamander part of the church. Shrugging and doing as her Lord has done in the past, the Righteous Flame did not care to cease the chantings and leave things be.

Through the Night, Righteous Flame Na'Karia maintains her quiet prayers to the Flame Lord. The fires being her only company in the temple aside from the Priest and Iron Flame Kassus Morex, still she chants her prayer to her Lord under her breath.

From the Fires, can our sins be forgiven.
In the Flames, we are healed from our pain.
From the Ashes, we rise anew.
From Rebirth, are we given new Power.
In Kossuths name, we will Overcome that which stands against us.

The few Acolytes that stand beside her, listening to this chant, quietly join her in it. The collective voice raising no higher than a normal tone of voice. The residents of Gullykin seem more are ease with this sort of chanting from the temple. Though most there had grown use to the Tiefling frequenting their village. After all she had always stopped into the inn for some of their delicious baked goods and left it with plenty to last her a ride or three. They considered her odd at times but she was otherwise nice and show a lot of Empathy, despite what she was and who she prayed to.

As the rays of first light come over the Horizon, Righteous Flame Na'Karia is seen praying before the Alter of Kossuth. She informed the priest that she is to not be disturbed nor moved while she prays.

With her eyes closed and hands together, her soft voice can be heard repeating over and over:

Lord of Flame, protect and guard the Flame which holds my flame. See that he does not perish this day. For my arrogance in asking this of you, take all his injuries and cast them into me."

For the entire day, she will repeat this.

Rumors drift into the morning air of talks about a young northern man visiting the Righteous Flame at the Temple. Of the Iron Flame starting a prayer and joined by the Righteous Flame, while the young man observed a ritual. It is said that after the ritual and prayer the Iron Flame left the temple, traveling by fire known only to him. Rumors also have it that the young man braved the Walk of Fire, albeit cursing the whole way with the Righteous Flame observing and smirking with each curse to the hot coals.

The temple lies in silence, shrouded by the darkness of the night - only the temple's bright flaming braziers light up the entryway. Suddenly from the nearby shadows steps out the dark outline of a man, robbed and cloaked in black from head to toe. He approaches the temple entryway and carefully places a folded parchment under the stone arch.

"For the Flamesister of Kossuth" is written upon it, the rest of the contents hidden away and folded, meant for the Flamesister's eyes only.

The man turns around after placing the item and silently slips off into the dead of night.

The Righteous Flame finds the letter soon enough and reads it over. A moment passes before a wicked grin spreads across her lips. The red glow of her eyes sparks brightly as the Flames of the Fire Walk themselves ignite to the point they burn the ceiling of the temple.

She says nothing, simply putting the letter away in her pack. She soon starts to hum a Kossuthan prayer she was taught a long time ago. Mostly to calm herself down though.

Echoes of Strife

Stepping out of a column of fire, an efreeti appears in the temple, bringing a message from the one known as Ingvar Kren. He then proclaims it in a hoarse thunderous voice akin to that of a crackling bonfire, words of the messenger echoing through the halls of the temple:

To Flamesister Na'Karia, self-proclaimed “Favoured of Kossuth”. I hear braziers of the Temple burned bright the night before, for the first time in a long while. That pleases me greatly for your countless failings have left the Temple in dismay.

Flamesister Na'Karia, drowning in misery, anguish and self-doubt, you bring shame upon the Temple. Your allies pity you, come and see. Your enemies laugh at you, come and see. Those drawn to the Tyrant-King’s fire reject it for they hear of your impotence, those to be brought into the flock know Kossuth’s name not out of your negligence. Come and see.

Flamesister Na'Karia, take me as your adversary if you wish so, I care not. Your threats are as empty as the halls of this Temple deprived of the faithful. Let your anger flow through you and ignite the light of fiery conviction once more. Renounce your diffidence, cast out your weakness into the fire, for it cleanses and purifies until nothing but essential form is left. Wield the blazing sword, call down an inferno upon your enemies, and behold: where the flame has passed, only the faithful remain.

With the message delivered, the efreeti leaves the parchment with the priest and returns to his native plane. Silence reigns in the temple once more, leaving those present to ponder over the harsh words proclaimed.

Rumor has it the Righteous Flame is seen packing up her things and leave a note on the Table:

Rumors from the Temple to Kossuth mention how the tiefling Righteous Flame is continuously looking over maps and muttering to herself about something in the south west. She paces back and forth in front of the table, her muttering continuing as mentions of going north west would give more distance. Every now and then she'd pick up a book, leafing through the pages of it before looking back to the map and placing random objects on it, as if she was attempting to determine the course of something through mock battles or encounters. For whatever reason, the rumors make it sound as if she is preparing for something...
Something along the lines of an unavoidable war.
