Life in the Shore'

Image

"This is Roaringshore, the decaying remains of a once-notable port. Under bent gables, the carcasses of its houses lean against each other-languid, broken, and awaiting the peace of collapse. Door frames sag, dislocated from sod walls heavy with mildew, while splintering timbers support rotting boardwalks like broken limbs, disappearing into the thick, rancid water of the harbor below. In numerous places, sections of the boardwalks have fallen away completely, leaving broad holes that expose polluted water."

And because of hard working efforts, dedication and a lot of time..it once again breathes life...

Image

Satisfactory efforts makes success. With planning, and creativity and a bit of charm, more and more patrons arrive. More and more Captain's and pirates and sailors and thieves and smugglers and whatever else the world considers filthy and unproper, continues coming around. Regardless of silenced Gods, regardless of failed divine blessing or arcane magic. Attraction is endless. The population grows for a reason. And regardless of such the reasons, more population means more residence. And more residence means the Captains and their armada grows.

Image

THE HIGH CAPTAINS

Image

The five High Captains, otherwise known as the Council of Five, are the reason why Roaringshore has not been wiped off the map by Baldur's Gate and the Lord's Alliance.

A powerful cartel of pirates and smugglers with a combined fleet of their own, the High Captains make frequent use of Roaringshore as a base. Collectively they present enough of a threat to make the situation a stalemate with the local powers. So long as the pirates don't get too greedy, businesses write off piracy as a form of taxation. For everyday matters in Roaringshore, the enforcers of the High Captains are the law of the streets. Normal ship captains answer to the High Captains.

"To the High Captains !"
"No pirate hunters, though. That's good, righ' ?"
"There's a few decent folk in here. But the bad ones pay better."
- Words by the Seawolf

Image

To be a "Captain", you must have three things: A ship, a crew, and plunder in the hold. If you show up empty-handed, don't expect a warm welcome. Once a captain is established he may base out of Roaringshore and weather a few lean months (especially over the turbulent winters) but nothing makes a barman smile and hop-to like knowing his customers came in with a fat purse! Goblet coins be goblet coins!

Image

Open warfare is not tolerated by the High Captains. The odd brawl or shady murder can pass beneath notice or care, but when you damage the commerce and trade you're likely to get beaten by all available drunken sailors.
The traveler should be aware that many pirates here are runaways, local thieves, and adventurers all out to make an impression, and perhaps attract some business as mercenary hirelings. A lot of posing goes on. As before told this can make Roaringshore a very dangerous place for the visitor who isn't in a large, well-armed group, or obviously powerful.

The haze of smoke hanging over the place is visible for miles. and its stench travels far downwind. Water flowing out the river mouth carries reeking sewage, streaks of dye, and islands of floating garbage far out to sea. Two establishments of note have lasted long enough to garner well-deserved reputations: the Swordarm Inn and the Broken Goblet.

Image

The Prospect of the Broken Goblet:
There are constant rumors that the staff and ownership of the Goblet are not human - and consist of beings far more deadly than the doppleganger "wenches." Most folk believe that some fell power runs the tavern. Its wardings are certainly strong, and spells have been deflected from them that hurled back or slew large mercenary attacking forces sent to cleanse or raid Roaringshore. (Those bearing a ward token can cast spells within the tavern.) The truth, according to one Harper, is that illithids rule this tavern and use their powers to gather information about the illicit doings of the Sword Coast from the guests who come here.

In the year 1358 DR
It will be remembered that even though the gods went silent and magic went wild. The low morale of the Shore' was no more..

Suspended Pearl

"I came to visit a friend. She just set up a tavern near by."
*Carah*

"And the view here."
*In this small town?*

*She motions towards the moon.*
*She doesn't realize how ominous it is.*

"Oh that's is a nice view."
*It's just a mirror we look into*

"You seem surprised it's a good view."
*Surprised? Never, it's only my reflection.*
Image

The moon is a loyal. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain, alone, and cratered by imperfections.

Image

She had to take her leave. He turned to look back at the moon, the mirror, the reflection. She said her farewells and he responded in kind, but not taking his eye's eye's off the moon, the mirror, the reflection. Was she really simply admiring the suspended pearl that outshined all the stars? Or did she in fact understood what it means to look upon the moon? No he was not surprised at the view at all. He's seen the moon many of times....

from many places, from different angles,
Image

from different angles, to different colors,
Image

and spending candlelight after candlelight trying to understand the representation of the great ...big...suspended...pearl. Unsure what conclusions other people might have made. But he surely had his own. If someone was to ask the bartender of the Broken Goblet about what the moon was. He would tell them..

“Everyone is just like the moon, and has a dark side which they never show to anybody. There is no light, without darkness. And there's no darkness without the light. And when the moon looks like it's waning...it's actually never changes shape.
Don't ever forget that.”

"Family"

Halflings – also known as Hin, the "quick folk" amongst themselves, or the "sly folk" or "good folk" by other races – were humanoid creatures similar in shape to humans. The term "halfling" was derived from the fact that they were around half of the size of humans, but otherwise very similar in appearance.
Image
"Who knows where a hero's spirit will grow?
Even the smallest seed can produce the mightiest tree."

— Elminster

The halfling mind was practical and halflings concerned themselves with their immediate surroundings. They took pleasure in simple things, with few aspiring to greatness in the same manner as humans. While many halflings did not have the ambition for adventure that some races did, most preferred trouble to boredom; the race was notoriously curious. Halflings were courageous, more so than many races, and their daring was often difficult to match .Halflings were quick and dexterous humanoids, even given their size, with quick reflexes and an ability to recover easily from sudden danger.
1348 DR

"Thank you for showing me this place Sel. I think I'm going to make this place my home."

"I knew you would like the place Tink."

"Please tell mother I wont be returning."

"She wont be happy."

"That's why you need to be the one to tell her. Your special to her. Your her favorite."
Image
Many of times, people will say you need friends. They consider our world harsh and cruel or too dangerous to go about alone. Nearly every day you can here someone telling another that they need to go make friends in order to progress properly. The bartender of the Broken Goblet would tell you, tis better to have a family. For there is no friend like a sister in calm or stormy weather; To cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, to strengthen whilst one stands.

He remembers over a decade ago, he was bleeding out. Kobolds had ambushed him in a ruin. He barely made it out alive. The blood from the many wounds he suffered drew the attention of a pack of wolves. He used his last amount of energy to fend them off. But they after all were a pack of wolves. The worked together regardless. Killing on, and being distracted by another, and then avoiding a bite from another, kept him too occupied to noticing the one behind him that manage to get close and take a solid bite. After slaying every last one of them, he collapsed to the ground. Near death and out of any bandages or potions. He was too weak, and desperately in need of a rest. But rest wouldn't come, he had too many wounds. He had to do something, he needed help. And that was when he heard a voice..

"Psst."

Image

After that night, he was sore from all the wounds. But he was given assistance, but it came at a cost. But was it really ? He woke up that next morning thinking about wolves and realized that wolf packs function as families. Everyone has a role, and if you act within the parameters of your role, the whole pack succeeds, and when that falls apart, so does the pack.

Image

Family over friends..is something the bartender believed in. He would tell you, "The family you come from isn't as important as the family you're going to have."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

The Dance of Devils

DEVILS- were a lawful evil race of fiends who hailed from the Nine Hells of Baator.

“ When you attack one demon, you attack a single creature.
When you attack one devil, you attack them all.”
— Corvana the Just, Paladin of Spherdale

Image
Devils were vicious creatures who were capable of attacking and killing others for essentially no reason. Devils often delegated their work to others. This did not mean that they were lazy, however, as the primary personality trait for any devil was ambition. They constantly looked for ways for promotion. The goal behind this behavior was the fulfillment of the devil's own desires.

Devils often had magical abilities. A large number of devils had an aura of fear, which they used to split enemy groups apart. Most devils had some kind of illusion abilities, which were used to sow confusion among their foes.

Devils were at a stark numerical disadvantage in the Blood War, where they fought demons. The devils, though, had many advantages against the chaotic demons, such as better equipment, morale, and the ability to employ tactics. All in all, the victory-defeat ratio of the devils was about half and half.

And just what sort of expectations can be made when one deals with a Devil? Faustian pacts were considered the most effective tool in the devils' arsenal to corrupt mortals. While copies for both parties existed, the devil gave the mortal's copy only when pressed on the issue. The mortal's blood was used for signature. There were two kinds of contracts that were made with mortals. The devils called them Pact Certain and Pact Insidious, but only among themselves for they were aware that the names sounded too ominous in mortal ears.

Image

The Pact Certain was a contract that the devils favored, because it was fast. The mortal immediately handed over his or her soul to Baator on death for some services. Barring proving that the pact was signed under some form of duress like threat of torture, these pacts' terms were impossible to adjudicate.

The Pact Insidious was a bit different. Here, a mortal and a devil agreed upon exchanging services. Namely, the devil provided the mortal with something and the mortal had to act in some manner that the devil wanted to.

Image

In all those stories about people who sold their souls to the devil, I never quite understood why the devil was the bad guy, or why it was okay to screw him out of his soul. They got what they wanted: fame, money, love, whatever—though usually it turned out not to be what they really wanted or expected. Was that the devil's fault? I never thought so. The Bartender of the Broken Goblet would say to you -

“Sometimes a deal with the devil is better than no deal at all. Just make sure you know what your doing, just avoid the ones you need to prick yer fingers with for ink.”
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Hunting

“No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons,
as I would not want to live in a world without magic,
for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith.”

-R.A. Salvatore

Black dragons; also known as skull dragons, were far and away the most vile tempered and cruel of all chromatic dragons. They were solitary creatures that lived in the swamps and marshlands all around Toril, from the Flooded Forest in Sembia to the jungles of Chult.
Image

Black dragons appeared abnormally slender in comparison to other chromatic dragons—wiry, but not gaunt. Physically, they were most distinguished by their horns, which protruded from the sides of their heads and wrapped around, projecting forward. A large frill adorned the upper part of the neck. They can also breathed a stream of acid.

"Oh I hunt wolves for their pelts. Farmer Jorn pays decently. Do you hunt for pelts too?"

"Oh me?..oh..em..yeah..like the small stuff really, yer know..less harmful ones..."

A few candlelight's ago....

Image

The huge maw lunged forward and snapped at air to where the man was standing. Had it not been for quickly dodging, the man would had been bitten cleanly in half. He took the open opportunity to pivot his foot and shift to the right, just as he was in motion he gave a reverse stroke of his sword arm. The hissing sound of his blade slicing in the air, soon bit and cut the dragons throat cleanly.

Image

The bellowing gurgle of a roar was the clear indicator that the black dragon that rests deep below the Ziggurat, had taken its last and final breath. The dragon fell crashing onto the rocks and caused a thudding quake. Dust and smog lifted and clung to the foul hot air. This Dragon would spit acid no more.

Image

But it would not be long that a smaller wyrmling will rise and takes it's place. When ever a dragon's home is empty, it's never long before another will occupy its empty space to consider itself the new home owner.

"Heh yup, don't like em dangerous stuff if yer git my meanin in all. Live longer tha way."

"So you wouldn't even try to hunt a dragon alone? Imagine all the treasure in its horde and the reputation one can get!"

“ Now why in the bloody hells would I go and risk my bloody neck doing sumthin stupid like that? "
"Gotta remember, a dragon's heart burns fiercely, even in the face of evil. I'd rather fill goblets. More fun to me. Just sayin in all.”
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

"Word from the road or is it?"

The Broken Goblet; when pirates and lawless folk come to brawl and carouse, their first thought is to roll into the Goblet - swords drawn, and swagger as they promenade along the raised entry dais and down toward the bar. It's the place to be seen - and the place to be killed in, if the body count of the last few years is any indication.

Image

However sometimes, a patron comes in to simply get a drink and engage with talks with the bartender to see if he's heard any new word from the roads. Rumor's, tales, stories..all of the stuff of fancy. Well many of times..very informational. But not everyone will get to hear every bit of the word. It will depend if they asked the right questions. Or if they tipped the bartender heavily...

Image

In the tavern community, each and every keeper knows the common do's and don't. It's important to running a successful establishment. Like don’t engage in discussions about politics or religion. Keep it light! You never know who’s sitting on the other side of your bar, so avoid sensitive subjects altogether for a frictionless customer experience. We’re living in a polarizing time, and odds are your customers are out for a night of escape, not to defend their beliefs or have to deal with yours. Sometimes controversial topics can arise naturally. If they do, it might be best to pivot the conversation to another topic, or just disengage for a while. While you want to avoid politics, that doesn’t mean you won’t want to talk about current events. People love to learn new information, and you could be the one to transmit a great little nugget of knowledge that your customer can use to impress their friends. Whether you talk about a murder from the night before or an upcoming holiday, timely topics make for effortless and interesting conversation.

Image

Having return customers is crucial for sustained success in the bar industry. When a regular walks in, don’t be afraid to give them a warm welcome and treat them with a heightened amount of admiration. Remembering worthwhile information that you learned about them during previous visits is a great way to strengthen a bond. Remember the order they made last time and ask them if they’d like the usual – it’s a great way to earn favors.

If the bartender of the Broken Goblet was asked, "What had he learned about working in the Goblet?" as a bartender, he would say..

"The hard part bout being a bartender is figurin out who is drunk and who is just stupid. A good bartender has to be part philosopher, part counselor, and part psychic."

"Oh! and no amount of physical contact could match the healing powers of a well-made cocktail."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

The Weekend is Here!

"HUZZAH!!"

Image

Finally the weeks end has arrived! And there will be goblets to fill! What sort of word will the roads tell? Only the patrons would bring it! Will the next couple of days be slow or will the bartender be pushed to his limits once again?! What will the current patrons moods be? After all tis the Broken Goblet where pirates, smugglers, thieves, runo'ways and sto'aways come to drink and carouse!

Will there be stories and dance and songs all night long? Grand tales of adventure perhaps? Or will their be a brooding somber weekend?

Image

Will the drunken patrons bicker and fight with each other and maybe even cut each other to death or will new friendship birth fruit and be grafted? We just never know!

Image

Will the Gods stay silent? Or will some other catastrophe and calamity present it's self?!

Image

Or will passion or even love be created instead?

Image

"Guess away!" the bartender of the Broken Goblet would say, for in his life time he has seen the unthinkable happen! He's seen what he thought he would never ever see! And most of it tends to happen in the Broken Goblet! So for now..as the night continues, he prepares his crates of liquor of the preferred choice of his common frequent patrons. And why is that his focus during these troubling times?! Because no matter the trouble, no matter the time, no matter the chaos nor calamity everybody needs a drink!

"We drink to get drunk!
We get drunk to fall asleep!
We fall asleep to dream!
When we dream we commit no sin!
And when we commit no sin, we go to the Heavens!
So I say ..
LET"S DRINK UNTIL WE REACH THE HEAVENS!!"

"HUZZAH!"

Ambitions

Image

"...he wants to form a group of mages associated with the temple but not part of its clergy."

"It is not unusual. I have had similar ambitions myself, he just happens to have tied himself to the church and now thinks to tie it all together, I suppose."

"A mage counsel would be different. A counsel, unbound by laws, a counsel filled with mages of all sorts and schools. That be sumthin."

Surrounding yourself with people who believe in your dreams, encourage your ideas, support your ambitions, can and will bring out the best in you. You got to get going move forward, and aim High, plan your take off. Don't just sit at a campfire and hope someone will come along and push the dreams forward for you. It simply won't happen. Persistence. Perfection. Patience. Power. Prioritize your passion. It will keep you sane.

Image

"During times like these..it might be quite useful. But...given how you walk..you seem to be a man, an elf, a mage, with barely a trickle of motivation . The question is, how much desire do you have to create such a counsel?"

Image

Find a purpose to serve, not a lifestyle to live would and could be a starting of a path. For the bartender of the Broken Goblet would tell you...

"A man’s worth is no greater than the worth of his ambitions."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Threats, Dance, and More..

"Sel, your man is threatening me."

"Out."

"I'm threatening you. now."

"You crossed a line. And in time, we will end this when the natural cycle is restored."

"Oi you folks gonna be prissy silly yer know where to go, fok' up my bar I cut all yer throats!"

Image

The bartender of the Broken Goblet could only grin while trying to watch a hot dance performance between a married couple. After all, they were testing his new stage. But back at the bar, something unfolded. Or was it something expected? Conflict, arising dislike turned to conflict? Or was it a misunderstanding? The bartender did not know nor really cared. So long as they didn't break the furniture. His bruiser on the other hand, seemed to have had enough with a patron and thrown a punch and chased after the man. The bartenders only thought was ..a conflict unresolved is a very dangerous thing to be left in ones wake. Better to settle it somehow than let it fester to grow into something truly rotting and nasty.

Image

He was a bit upset for the ruckus only because he was enjoying the couples dance. After all, he did like fancy things, and they was sharing an apple in their mouths! He carefully watched the couple, the woman pulling away from distractions to focus on desires. She twirled in a graceful pirouette, collapsing back against the armored body as the man brought her close to him again. Her arms reached up to rest upon the errant knight's hips, or the piece of armor that was girdled around them. Regardless of the previous ruckus, the couple did what he wanted them to do....and that was to keep dancing.

Image

This was the Broken Goblet. Where sensitivity should be left at the door. If patrons are not made of sterner stuff, they shouldn't frequent. The bartender will not show pity, he will not try to break up a fight either, so long as the furniture doesn't get broke. Nor will he choose sides. For work is work and so long as he's working. Goblet coins need to be made. And he rather not deal with the wrath of the Boss for any adventurers' sake.

Image

Regardless of spilled blood and brewing conflicts. The bartender of the Broken Goblet didn't let such things become troublesome to him. For goblets still needed filling and people needed to get drunk! Even if they were eastern folks with a great deal of discipline or a woman who needed the blackest of ales! The work must go on! Because all of this , is just what the bartender wanted to see! A spit of blood, a dance and song, a laugh here and there, and drunkenness' everywhere! With a good story and some tales of the roads and rumors to share. This is what he looked forward too on the weeks end! Soon as he took over the bar from Captain Pike to give the grumpy man a break, patrons came..

Image

And came...

Image

And came...

Image

And kept on comin!

Image

And this was just the first half...

"HUZZAH!!"

And one thing didn't evade his mind...a curious thought wondered ..just whom was the new faced from earlier. With eye's filled with mischief. He made a mental note to remember that one again.
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Lies, Deceit, Betrayal

“I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you.”

If you wear a mask for too long, there will come a time when you can not remove it without removing your face. Truth is emotional, it is based on vested interests. A lie that defends my interests is the absolute truth, but truth that goes against my survival is a pure lie. We know the objective truth, but we smear it, tarnish it and assassinate it if it speaks against our wellbeing. Some people would take their lies with them to the graves and wear it like another layer of skin. The face of guilt, the expression of lies, is always pitiful.

Image

It can be said, “It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.” Betrayal is a thing of pain. It pierces the chest, rupturing anything within such as the heart, the soul and even the pride. Anger steams and rises from such the pain. One can grow merciless, resentful and very unforgiving. Betrayal is a dangerous thing, it has already cost a good many lives and it will continue to claim a good many more.

Image

For there to be betrayal, there would have to have been trust first. If one trusts in me not to bring them any harm, would it be wrong of me to keep away a painful truth? Am I not keeping my word and protecting you from harm? Why does it necessarily mean I did wrong? Who ever created such a belief should literally get put in a box and be casted out to the harsh sea's. Protection is protection there is no right or wrong way. Its either do or not do for failure to do could make a person suffer the worst sort of betrayal.

1348 DR

"You filthy traitor! I knew you were a sleezy rat!"

"And what about you? Bet you told everything to that woman of yours."

"I've told her nothing!"

"We will deal with this rat, as well as your woman... Just for good measures. Is that a problem?"

"No."

"That's my boy."

Image

Don't doubt, a poisonous tongue is more deadly than an knife. Often times people look down upon a human with their short life span. But I tell you, the human tongue is more poisonous than a wyverns tail. They whisper in the ears of kings and queens. It's those very tongues that even reshapes the world. When one looks down upon their adversaries thinking themselves the greater, it is the biggest mistake a thing can do. Humans have risen governments, cities and power by a poisonous tongue. Greed is often the reason. The most perverted tongues are the one that simply enjoy reshaping the world with its whispers for nothing else than to see how their tongues move mountains, or crumble worlds.

Image

Lies, deceit, betrayals, they surround us all. Some faintly there, some very obvious. All Kings, all Queens, all people that sit upon a throne of power should very well be careful with whom whispers in their ears. For those very whispers are more powerful then they who sits upon a throne.

“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Leaf Water...

"Tea..pfft...whom ever created such a thing needs to drown in a river."
1348 DR

"Grrr..You!..want hat back..you drink! Hrrmm.."

"Eh? I ain't drink'n that, ain't even know what the blimey hells that is."

"No talk! Drink!.."

"Ain't drinking nothin till you give me my hat back."

*Snarls and chews on the hate in feral anger*

"HEY STOP! Alright I'll drink !"

*Grins and tosses the flask* "Hmm,,drink all."

"What is this anyways?"

*Grunts*."Tea."
Image

*After a sip he suddenly spit out the liquid for it had to been something bitter and non alcoholic. There was a feint smell that made him wonder if it had the halflings piss mixed in. He did everything possible to rid the flavor out of his mouth. The strange feral hin laughed hysterically, obviously seeming happy for pulling one on the bald man or enjoying the reaction. How ever while the feral hin was rolling on the cobbles in front of the Lethander temple. However while the halfling was in a fit of laughter, the bald man rushed up and kicked the hin in the face then snatched his hat and quickly dashed off towards Neskal! Periodically looking back but seeing no one give chase. Only the howls of a very very angry hin echoed into the nights air in Beregost.*

1358 DR Present Day.

Image

*He glances at the strange druid, who had passed up the alcoholic beverage so that he could order tea. The bartender of the Broken Goblet nearly winced. He remained as silent as his mouth could, but his mind was racing . One thought that came to mind was of the past when he came upon a strange hin who tricked him into trading hats. He had gone nearly two full weeks without his hat. But finally he had caught up with the would be scammer and did whatever he thought necessary to get his hat back. As soon as the druid drank his tea, the bartender had one thought...*

"Disgusting."

Things in the Coast.

Rangers; warriors who excelled at exploring the fringes of civilization and hunting down deadly monsters. Hunters, scouts, trappers, and assassins, rangers could be found wherever civilization bordered the wilderness. To aid them in their outback treks, rangers were trained in a number of combat techniques, survival skills, and even magic. Serving as protectors of the civilized world against the wilderness' feral threats, stereotyped as wild frontiersmen, rangers were often imagined most at home within dense woodlands, but not limited too...

"They go where the money is."

"They believe themselves to be forces of good. But they are mercenaries at the core."

"Greed, power..all that stuff corrupts. Makes folks detached from the very reason they took up the mantles of what ever place or throne or wotnot."

"Another reason to be a druid. You don't need coin for things. You just . . . do your job."

"Wot? Dancing naked and rubbing on trees and give up meat and drink leaf water instead of whiskey?"..."Pitiful!"

Earlier Elsewhere..

Image

"Are you alright?"

"Just. . . ever have shite all go at once?"

"Aye, I be knowing that all too ..well."

"Adapt and adjust. . That's all we can do now."

"Lady..it comes..it goes..dont think too much of it . Go get a drink , you look like need one."

"I need more than one. I'll do my best."

"Dont do your best. Do what is, within your means."

Near the End of the Day..

"I'm just a bit warm....But then. . .I'm standing next to Emmanuel."

"I only play it when Ashling is present."

"Technically... he asked first and I gave him a non-answer. Then I asked, and he gave me a non-answer. Then he asked again, and I gave him another non-answer."

"This may come as a surprise to you, but the two of us were trying to guard our hearts for a while there, so it was a few weeks of vague non-answers."

The bartender walked the roads today eager and antsy to see what was beyond the Shore'. With everyone that hr met along the walkways, the roads, taverns, he saw other peoples worlds. Was the disaster by the gods really that much of a disaster? .The bartender of the Broken Goblet would question such, for he seen the smiles of many during the troubled times. Talks of romance and first love and other interesting tales. The world seemed normal..very normal. However the bartender wont neglect the fact that there were some others who did not seem to be in the best of moods. They walk with heavy shoulders. They stride with responsibility, unable to indulge in the simplest pleasures. Duty filled and duty bound...they seem to get no breaks.

Decisions

"Feeling unsure and lost is part of your path. Don't avoid it.
See what those feelings are showing you and use it."
When we think of failure, failure will be ours. If we remain undecided nothing will ever change. All we need to do is want to achieve something great and then simply to do it. Never think of failure, for what we think, will come about. I did not imitate the skeptics who doubt only for doubting's sake, and pretend to be always undecided, on the contrary, my whole intention was to arrive at a certainty, and to dig away the drift and the sand until I reached the rock or the clay beneath.

Image

The dance between darkness and light will always remain the stars and the moon will always need the darkness to be seen, the darkness will just not be worth having without the moon and the stars. Everyone will come to a point in time they must choose. One journey ends, another will await. How does one make a choice between light and darkness? So many variables shroud the world that can tip the scales, and there's those that have the ability to nudge a person to either side. When one looks at their reflection, do they always see themselves as they are? Or do they see someone else entirely yet still themselves?

Image

"How much you like it there?"

"I'm reserving judgment still."

"What's the pro's?'

"Place to anchor myself."

"And the con about it?"

"Boring...I'm alone most the time."
It never seems to fail, how often someone is surrounded by darkness yet enfolded in light. And still, they have difficulty making a choice for their future or path they wish to walk upon. Foolish are those whom always seeks the easy paths of things. They never end with satisfaction. Even if they act like they are. But truth is, how does one feel the true thrill of completeness if they took the easy way to the end? The answer would be they don't.

"I am not one to tell you to choose a path or tell you what sort of future to take ..
.. cant help think good potential is being ..wasted."

Image

The bartender of the Broken Goblet would say..

"If earnin' yer keep, ain't makin' you feel good at night and be anxious to wake up in the mornin',
then obviously you done choose the wrong path."

After remembering the calendar and estimating how long he's worked in the tavern, a thought came to him. He's neglected his book, and time is growing shorter.
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

To Sign or Not to Sign

Contract- a written or spoken agreement,
enter into a formal and legally binding agreement.

Some say "A contract is only as good as the people signing it." The question is how many people actually read the context of one before signing it? When a contract is offered a lot of times, enticement is a strategy used to keep a person from fully reading the contract. Promise of riches and power or fame are the common things thrown to try to get a person to quickly sign a contract. Greed would make a person fall for such enticements. There's even contracts that prefers your blood or your very soul to seal the deal. Most people would see the opportunity in such an enticing offer. Smart ones, wouldn't. One notable thing to keep mindful when a Devil tries to get you to sign a contract, they don't have your soul yet or they wouldn't be trying to make deals with you period.

Image

Looking at the contract with promises of a great reward, laid there on top of a table next to a chest. What was in the chest? Were the first thought. However the next thought was seeing that he would have to give his soul. After signing on the dotted line.

Image

Sweat from his brow started to run down his face, time seemed to had frozen. Heart beats sounded like war drums within his ears. Should he? What's the risk? What could be the gain? What could b..., the punishment? His mind was racing, ..the chest...what was in that chest..? A deep breath, a slight shake of his head. He needed to clear his mind. And clear his mind he did. Now the game face was seen.

Image

And whom was seeing it was everything not nice. After a heated exchange of dialog, a man left that very table with his neck intact. Upon that table was a contract and it was left unsigned.

The Bartender of the Broken Goblet would say one thing in regards to contracts...

"Never sign a contract with yer blood. Because if you do, they already own yer arse."
“We drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."
