A number of adventurers were seen departing the Farmlands, accompanied by Grand Knight Arkalis of the Radiant Heart, and Commander Di'Corvi of the Northern Watch. Likely overheard would be the sound of a worried woman, panicked over the fate of a missing friend....

...The returned group would be larger, having grown to include a number of faces familiar in the area. It takes no time at all for rumors to begin circulating of an encounter along Thundar's Ride- first of devils and their summoners, orcish raiding parties, and... vampires.

Details get outlandish quick, right up to saying the Drow were there, but it's obvious something went down; because it's not long before the Commander and the Grand Knight are seen making a hasty path toward the Flaming Fist citadel and the palace.

Several messengers are seen leaving the Minstrels Muse, these men were heading in all directions carrying a sealed letter.

Fingal himself is then seen leaving with a sealed letter towards the Lords Alliance.

Riders bearing the Symbol of the Order of the Radiant Heart set out in various directions
with few rolls of parchment in their bags heading towards various gates of known goodly guilds and temples.

It would seem as if the ones making the best of the current times would be the local courier's guild- Letters bearing sigils of The Radiant Heart, House Darius, and now The Northern Watch are dispatched out in what seems an unending stream.

It's not long before the sight of the sullenly hued Commander of the Northern Watch is seen taking purposeful strides, scroll case in hand, toward the palace once more.

An ugly green half orc woman dressed is shining armor would begin spending time around the temple of Ilmater.
She would claim that a note said a baddie was going to hurt the childers and she would guard them good.
She also claims that she is Vudash Skulash and is going to be a knight soon.

The hours following the murders are rather quiet. Fist soldiers would watch over the Ilmater shine and small patrols would become more regular. Those that pass by the half orc illustrate their thoughts though confused and weary looks on their face. The rest of the night is quiet, and the rain continues until the early hours of the morning.

Morning dawns wetly on the City, and once more the half-elven Commander of the Northern Watch is seen on her way to the palace, while the coffers of the local courier's guild gets another injection of gold, and the stock prices of parchment and ink begin to climb.

Quiet word leaks out about a second incident following a bardic performance. While traveling home a lady from the docks had blood thrown on them by a robed tiefling. The man was quickly brought down by nearby guards. The body was taken into the Flaming Fist.

A familiar face enters the Blushing Mermaid, greeting Guido with a few coins and a sullen look. Soon enough the barkeep returns with a bottle of wyvern and a tumbler. Gloved hand takes both, finger tapping on the counter. They exchange nods, the one eyed man moving to his usual seat, back to the wall with a clear view of the entrance. Viridian gaze occasionally sweeps the rowdy establishment as he continues draining the bottle of its nasty contents. An hour later he pushes himself off the chair, picking up the half empty bottle and heads off into the wind swept streets of the Docks District.

Aaron Lyonaler might have been seen going about entering various temples requesting to speak with the head of each he visits. After leaving he would then enter another, until he had visited the majority of the temples within the city.

Three individuals sit in the Elfsong and discuss what can be done about the Ransell farmstead and the surrounding icy anomaly.

Troubles in the Farmlands

The strange blue-black shimmer above the Baldur's Gate farmlands fades, as strangely as it appeared.

A section of farmland, deeply frozen as if caught in a terrible, endless winter has appeared near Baldur's Gate. The region seems to encompass what was once the Ransell farm, an unassuming local farm, and the surrounding woodland.

The Flaming Fist are quick to surround the area with guardsmen, but are unable to venture within due to the intense chill.

An unholy cold infuses the region.
Hidden: show
Those who enter the region take 10d6 points of cold damage a round. Half of this damage is unholy damage, and cannot be reduced.
Scouting the area proves impossible due to the cold.
Hidden: show
Those who try take 21,000 points of damage over the period of an hour. Those with access to cold immunity for the hour only take 10,500 points of damage. Those able to heal that much damage over the period of an hour, learn what the spot check learns, albeit through more close encounters.
Those who know of local lore, or have a suitable background in the farming community (such as a Chauntean or a local farmer.) (Knowledge: Local: 25)
Hidden: show
Reilan and Tif Ransell have lived and worked at the Ransell farm for over forty years. Locals report them as friendly, but quiet. If pressed, none can recall ever actually having visited the farm at any point in the last four decades, always having remembered other business before venturing towards the farm.
Those with good spot and a spyglass, or those with scrying magic. (Spot 25)
Hidden: show
The region seems deeply frozen, but life of some sort is visible in the frozen woodland. The keen eyed can spot misshapen wolves, ice elementals, and what appear to be the dark outlines of shadows within the frozen wasteland.

The frozen region appears centered on the Ransell Farm itself.
Those with knowledge of the Planes. (Knowledge: Planes 25)
Hidden: show
The cold gripping the Ransell farm appears to be consistent with the Hellish eternal winter of Cania, domain of Mephistopheles.

After reports from a dwarf named Hignar and his companions reach the Flaming Fist Conpound, a dozens of soldiers are seen marching through the sewers. The soldiers in the front carry swords spears and halberds, while the lower ranking soldiers and volunteers are armed with beckets and scrubbers. Working throughout the day and night the sewers are cleaned of the recent animal caucuses. The presence of flies in the city fades away over the next few days.

Rumors spread in Baldur's Gate that an Aasimar has passed away three days after being escorted to the Ilmater shrine. She spoke about a dream regarding "many eyes".

The temple of Ilmater welcomes in those who report nightmares or dreams to reside under the wards of the temple. Flaming Fist soldiers double patrols and offer escorts to those walking the streets at night.

Dusk - Marpenoth 5, 1354~

As evening arrives upon the farmlands of Baldur's Gate, a caravan originating from the north, arrives bearing a dwarf of the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak—the emblem of the great Dwarven kingdom, worn openly, stitched in gold thread upon the cloak worn by this particular Stout. Particular to his appearance, and that which may isolate him from other Dwarves seen or known in the past, is the fine hand-drum that he carries with him.

During this evening, the dwarf can be witnessed to be talking with the Kingdoms own merchant, placed within the Wide. The dwarven tongue is used, but any with ears to this language would discern that the discussion was over Stouts that are present upon the Sword Coast, outside the Kingdom itself.

As well, a number of ledgers were acquired by the visitor, of whom it could be opined would return them to Kraak Helzak for....

Image
Later in the same evening, the same dwarf, still hooded and rightly so considering the appearance of heavy rain, may be seen talking with the known trader Otto Goldstein, who have been representing the Torgier Mining Company for as long as anyone can remember.

Keen ears that speak the Dwarven tongue may pick up words related to trade and kith, if not kinship, with the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak. It would seem from grasping at the edges of the conversation, that the visiting Stout is negotiating or renegotiating an/that alliance....

Image
Since it is already evening during what had transpired above, reasoning would dictate that this visiting Stout of the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak would be staying for a time at one of the many establishments with Baldur's Gate.

Day - Marpenoth 6, 1354~
Image
On a walk-a-bout within the city of Baldur's Gate, an often hooded—and protected from the rain...—Dwarf finds his way the the corners of the City. The Call of Coin seems to have been of the greatest volume, and so it was that he entered the Tymora's Temple...later, leaving the same Temple with a great grin and a full mug of ale in hand.

As if guided by a force not of his own choosing, he wandered more to end up at the White Mask Theater, to which a smile and eyes wide with curiosity, led him inside...as some may have seen—for a Stout walking about with a stein full of ale in the daylight, may have caused equal chuckles as well as turns of disapproval.

Inside the White Mask, the Stout removed his cloak-hood and walked to the stage straight away, observing rather somber lit stage-room and noiseless atmosphere.

At the stage, he turned to face the entrance, and leaned back upon the stage front, ale still in hand, and whistled a little tune—the air lit up with Light, just enough for him to get a proper look about the place.

With no one coming to attention at this, the Dwarf leaned back a little more upon the rail-edge of the stage, and after a deep breath, bellowed out a low chant, such that he may properly test out the acoustics of the space.

The reverberating rumble and the lingering sound coursing in the room, made him smile with pleasure and appreciation.

With that, he sipped up the last of his ale, placed the stein at his waist belt hook, and casually walked back to the entrance and out...

...but just before reaching the door, with pause in his step and a few rhythmic snaps of his fingers, the caused Light fizzled away...
