A rather odd looking old man with a scraggly beard and wearing a horned helmet and greyish robes could be seen at the farmlands entrance to the East gate district recently arguing with the Fist guard posted there. Onlookers would notice the old man berating the young guard for stopping him from entering with his walking stick, which he affectionately referred to as Marigold. As the venerable mans scolding went on his eyebrows danced more wildly, and more and more spittle could be seen flying out of his mouth. The old grouch could be heard stating, "Ach! Whadda yae mean ah cannae enter! An' where d'yae propose ah put Marigold?! Up mah robes!? Under mah haelmet!!!? Ah cannae fit it in mah sleeve!"
After repeated rejections by the guard, the wizened old fellow could be heard exclaiming, "ACH! Bloody hells, t'is no way to treat a prrrestigious enchanter like mahself!". Shortly thereafter the old robed man would walk away in a huff, first north through the corn fields, then back south a hundred yards towards the bridge, and finally about-facing to tromp off to the northern farmlands, grumbling all the way.

*A Dejected woman in a blue and gold mask, orange outfit, and bright red boots is seen posting a notice on the notice board outside the Elfsong Tavern, and on the door of the White Mask Theater*
Dear Baldur's Gate,
I, Alison the Harlequin, have decided to retire as a Jester and Fool.
There comes a time in every person's life when they encounter something so profound and perfect. . . so much better than they could ever be, that it is time for them to change professions. A warrior may meet a warrior who is far better than they will ever be; A priest may meet one so pious and so devoted to their God they they know they will never be able to achieve such levels of righteousness.
In my case, I have realized that I could spend an entire lifetime making brilliant pranks, funny songs, and gut-bursting jokes. . . But I will never come up with something nearly as funny as people, with apparent seriousness, bowing to Nelwynn Burrowes and calling him "Overgnome"
I bequeath my Jester's Crown to Nelwynn. He is the true Master.
Signed,
Alison Schlump

The Elf Kaienrai can be seen visiting the shops and taverns, looking hastily for the one named Aelcar and/or the Lady Marigold Winters.

A middle-aged man in service of High Priest Sulnar of Tyr approaches Kaienrai as he exits the Elfsong Tavern. The two are seen discussing for a while before amicably parting ways.

Around the corner, on the patio, a hood figure carries on casual conversation with Sarah the Barmaid and unremarkable guests at a side table. Soft laughter at the merchants' attempts at jests, more ale is passed around for them on her tab. Elven ears listen on to the Tyrrian and his friend while she pretends to care about N'tel'quessir gathered around her. Cloth may shield her from the cold, but not from the pair's words reaching her ears.
Even if spotted, she wears a different outfit entirely than before. Dressed for the overcast weather, clad in rather unremarkable oranges and tempered greens that are the style this time of year. By all appearance, just one of a crowd dinning out.

Those that walked the Tradeway one night ago may have seen or talked to a tall, blond-haired man with remarkable golden irises. His headband of Lathander shone brightly as he warned travellers of a necromancer roaming the lands south of Nashkel. To some he recounts his battle with the villain, speaking sadly as he tells them that although he drove the mage off, he was unable to capture her. "Beware the crimson-robed lady wearing a mask ...."

A strange sight occured during the evening at the Stars and Blade tavern. A well-known figure, that of the Morninglord Tolan, usually calm and measured in his ways, was seen sitting in front of the fireplace drinking by himself. A few whispered rumors that they had seen him act much the same the evening before around the Friendly Arm Inn. A man came to talk with him and they both went upstairs. The man returned down some time later, alone.

There would likely be heard whispering in excited and hushed tones this evening on the docks: rumors swirl of an altercation between two hooded and cloaked figures near the southern piers. These rumors seem to suggest that a slim looking figure wearing a green cloak approached a very well known street urchin by the name of Jeremy and demanded something from him in a not so kind manner, which then precipitated the boy to run off crying.
Witnesses say that another slender figure wearing a black cloak and hood confronted the other regarding his treatment of the boy. Details of the conversation seem to vary greatly, but all who witnessed the altercation would likely concur that it was a very brief one. Any other descriptions of the two combatants would be hazard guesses at best, likely due to the near pitch blackness of the lantern-less street where the scuffle was more heard than seen.
Whether or not any stayed to corroborate the fate of the fallen figure, a certain half-orc captain may or may not confirm that, shortly after the altercation, a large splash could be heard from the water nearby.

Town Criers report the NTE is back in business and looking for business contacts and contracts all over the Sword Coast.
Interested should contact the new guild leader, a gnome named Dzidek.

Red-haired tiefling named "Raven" has been seen in docks district of Baldur's Gate, asking around for masons. If questioned, people would tell that the tiefling looked for someone that could estimate construction costs of something that apparently involved magma. She left docks in bad mood.
((Send me PM if your char is interested. Well established characters with experience in architecture preferred.

The loquacious gnome known as
Wizzelbert Cranksproket has been heard asking around the city of Baldur's Gate for word of any like-minded tinkerers, builders, or alchemists. His signature top hat and red sash may be familiar with those around the various taverns and inns as he stops through fairly regularly.
If asked, he would explain that he has hopes that some of his former peers, fellow apprentices from Illul in Lantan, would have arrived to the coast by now. Hoping that together they would pool resources to stock a builder's space.
When not engaged in small talk (at a very fast pace), he can be seen peddaling his contraptions and apparati to any that would allow him more than a moment of their time.
========
////Wizzelbert is a Techsmith in the making, who has been on hold for some time awaiting the release of the Techsmith PRC. It may be a month or more yet before I progress his levels any further (or may just RCR later) but that also means that there is ample opportunity to form a guild/collective around Lantan/Gond/Tinkering/Alchemy.. if there is any interest? Perhaps if we can sustain interest a workshop can be put in game for our use.
///Feel free to PM to brainstorm OOC, or reply IC here.

The sometimes charmer, Artim, often with flagon in hand at his normal station upon this one stool at the Elfsong tavern open air patio, notices this little machinist busy with things that seem…odd. If possible, Artim waves over to the gnome, waving such to get the gnome to come over to him, at the beer patio. With Artim firmly planted on the short stool, it is easy for Artim to lean over and look into the face of the gnome, and upon his contraptions in hand.
"You look the quirky but skilled fella." Artim looks up and down at the gnome's top hat, then continues on. "You one of those merry makers of metal? I been in that temple before…a lot of strange things…say, how useful are your…apparati?"
The sometimes charmer looks over the gnome for a few seconds.
"You know…I work for this person called Fortune. They seem to be putting together a few clever individuals for a few jobs, here and there. Real skilled people…not the average Johan, if ye be clever enough in the brains department to get my speech…." Artim taps a finger on the side of his temple, while looking at the gnome.
"Ye lookin' for work, crafty friend?"

On this day in the Gate, the sometimes charmer stopped, as is usual, beside the dedicated performer, he that is loved by so very few, though he plays out his heart, whether rain or shine. He reaches to his side pouch, in order to throw a few coins in the man's bucket.
Minutes later, caught in the rapture of the tune played, Artim launched into full mimicry on air lute!
Rumor passes that maybe, the sometimes charmer, might be taking lessons….
