Sides of a coin
Kar is seen gossiping with Gloura's bar pillar :
the minotaur at the table. Wich also happens to be her favored ziran dealer, getting her weekly supply she's ''pulled'' in conversation with the typically quiet minotaur.
- Xas , dos bloodfast tablets are the best even if dos is more expensive then most .. you'll be making more plak'ka to : Ithic aint selling on the side for a while , even to ussa ! Guess he feels the charnag breathing down his neck ...
The minotaur fidgets with his ale , he couldn't care less. He feints getting up up to leave but kar sits next to him ,puting a hand on his shoulder to indicate him to do the same. The minotaur sighs and waves gloura for a refill siting back down his squeeking chair.
- What happened dos wonder ? bweal dos is in luck ust orc saw it in the distance and ussatan have details ! Imagine that ; a horde of surfacer allied themselves with worshipers of Ghaunadaur (1)* ! Xas xas dos is right ! how despicable of them !
The minotaur shrugs and shifts on his stool looking back at the door as someone enters the bar , hoping for an excuse to slip away , but it's just another adventurer coming to trade he sighs as Kar bables on without pause.
- Anyway , after making such a treacherous pact to secure transportation in our realm they went on to commit their misdeeds ; they kidnapped and beat up a beautifull jalil and then went on a furious rampage near the market, no doub looking to raid our, oh so more potent then their's ,magical artefacts...
The minotaur rolls his eyes and chugs down his ale while quickly ordering a refill and seriously considering a change of profession. Maybe a nice quiet job in varallas , with Grom Rubycutter, that litle crook.
- But as dos know , drow superiority prevailed once again. The city guard saw right through their twisted plans and swiftly arrested the lot of them. Sentences have been just and swift , as expected we do after all have the most advanced judicial system in the world. The rebelious leader one of those religious fanatics plaguing the surface , was executed summerly. Some other sold to slavery while others paid a heavy find. Punishements fit to each of their crimes. And may the blood of justice carry far and wide to all of them virth kivvils.
Having said her peice , the petite jalil finally stands and departs , the minotaur politely nods to her but she walks off not noticing. Having no longer need for an ear or a dealer she couldn't care less about that cow-faced roth.

/// First of all: LOL! Now, IC...
*Word carries through the City of Weavings, through the corridors of the Upper Dark, the caves where the Illithids dwell...Carried on the wings of night, it travels through the darkness of the Netherese Ruins, and then the deadly caverns underneath Durlag's Tower, the tower itself...Finally, out in the open, in a dark, moonless night, it is caught by a gust of wind, and blown past the Ruins of Ulcaster...past the village of Gullykin, and farther, faster and faster as it crosses the sea to Roaringshore, flapping the black mantle of a figure that shouldnt be here, and everyone knows. He is a shadow among shadows, not uncommon in this land of pirates and outlaws of every kind, yet...everyone else senses it, and noone tries to approach the man, despite his unimpressive size. As his mantle lifts, his hood slids back slightly, revealing polished ebony skin, a glimpse of white hair and crimson eyes, as old as time itself*
*Chuckling mirthlessly at the Elven Ranger Laisren, attacking and chasing him in vain (obviously, the cursed Darthiir doesnt know he is eternal...), Valshar the Black, The Necromancer, The Phantom Wizard, The Revered Eye of the 7th Circle, listens to the wind, and sighs* "The stupidity of Kivvils is offensive" *he says in his deep, brooding voice* "I deeply regret my absence...I could have killed some more for free, on their way back..." *Laughing again, an evil sound that didnt have the barest hint of humanity in it, he headed for the nearest ship.*

Two parties - each composed of an Illithid emissary and its guard - have been seen in Varalla's passage. According to eye witnesses, one remained in the passage and "spoke" at length to a group representing Sshamath's Seventh Circle. Rumour has the other being allowed entry to the city and proceeding to speak with representatives of the Conclave.
Witnesses of the first discussion speak of a potential alliance between the Seventh Circle and the Illithid Hive. Rumours of the second discussion are far more mysterious.

And so, it shall be... *cackles Valshar, in that demonic laughter of his that has no hint of humanity (nor semi-humanity...) in it* Let them come...and die. Die, as they grasp for light in the endless shadow of the Upper Dark, their blood like a red carpet for us to walk on our path to victory.... *He turns away from the Imp messenger, shadows swallowing him after one step, in a flap of his black mantle... a ghost haunting Varalla's corridors...a Vampire out for blood, the blood of his enemies*

A disaster felled an entire contingent of Duegar while appropriating materials to be added to the defense of the city and the Misty lake fortifications. Several large explosions have erupted within the tunnels near the Duegar Mines killing hundreds of would be defenders and has set back weeks of effort in procuring stone and masonary equipment to the reinforced walls of Undrek'Valanor.
The Conclave is furious and in a ferver to mitigate this disturbance that this saboteur brings. With each victory that this assassin brings, the morale of the defenders wane. Skirmish after Skirmish, the Alhoon's armies dominate within the tunnels of the UD. There is word that Sshamathian military forces abandoning their post due too despair of imminent defeat at the hands of the undead and the monster hoardes that made their incursions more aggressive. The conclave out of arrogance, refuses to evacuate the city for the impending and desparate fight.
The war tribunal is in dissarray, the commanders in dissent with one another as the set-backs mount and create heated debate that has lead to factioning, bickering, and indecision. The friction has become so dire that there is word of a coup or revolt that has been planned by the several of the younger commanders. As they are dissatisfied with the ruling that the city remain under martial law and closed from escape. It seems as though the conclave has decreed that all those who live in Sshamath will also perish in Sshamath... perhaps using this fear to motivate their citizens to partcipate in the defense of the city.
Perhaps the great venerable wizards high atop their tower studies, powerful as they maybe; have lost touch with the people of the City. Their decrees brings only more despair and desparation amongest the diverse populace, but what could anyone expect from a ruling council that is exclusively drow?

Recently arrived in Sshamath, Kiilana'Zar Barriviir hears the news and screams in frustration.
She drops to her knees in front of the Spider Queen's altar and renews her fervent prayers to Lolth.
"Hear my pleas oh Mighty Mistress of the Demonweb. Aid me to restore this disgraceful city into your venomous embrace. You are not revered here as you should be my Queen. The traditions that make the Drow great have been overturned and left to flounder on the counters of grubby merchants, or under the carts of insolent traders and smugglers from the surface world. Tradition lies bleeding outside the towers of the Conclave. This city is no longer ruled by women of the Noble Houses."
Her rage overwhelms her and she begins to pound her fists on the ground and tear at her own skin and hair.
After a few minutes she regains a measure of control and continues in a hoarse whisper.
"This city that you once held in your gloriously cruel hands is in imminent danger of falling to godless monsters and the walking dead. Guide me my Queen. Tell me what to do. Tell me who to coerce. Tell me how to save this city and restore you to glory. Tell me who to kill."
Kiilana'Zar stays there rocking back and forth and praying for hours. Over and over in her mind the same thoughts keep repeating.
This is the fault of the Conclave. Tell me who to kill. This is the fault of the Conclave. Tell me who to kill. The city is falling .. but what could anyone expect from a ruling council that is almost exclusively male?

It is rumored the Circle has undergone an extensive reform. Among other things the leadership has become more centralised under a professional officer corps.
There are also whispers about a dreaded secret 'police' under the leadership of the Eye of the Circle and the office of the Inquisitor.

Rumor has it that the newly appointed Magister Militum of the 7th Circle, Master Guilhem of the Crooked Tower, is looking for at least two able lieutenants (in addition to his aide-de-camp, Alienor, Knight of the Hammer).
Prospective candidates from the membership of the Circle have been seen coming to and fro from the Crooked Tower near the Quillspires.

Rumors of a great battle in the middle dark reaches Sshamath's streets. It is said an army of the Alhoon was faced and driven back and that the pocket plane serving as supply line for this army has been collapsed on itself.
The initiative seem to have come once again from the 7th Circle , who takes the opportunity to remind every citizens and permanent residents from the city of Dark Weaving that the circle
wants them and is actively looking to recruit new and promising agents.
recruitment office is open all cycle long on the corner of main and market street :

Rumours spread of a foreign Jalil who insulted two high officers of the 7th Circle. According to the gossip the woman was consequently brutally restrained by two bigby spells before being forcefully inducted into the Circle as a slave. (props for the roleplay!)
