It's nice to log on and have people gunning for you who like to RP as well.

Rocshanks wrote:Bounty etiquette

So you want to post a bounty, and you are wondering why the Fist is cracking down on you for doing so. Ask yourself these questions.

1. Am I in the sword coast region? Check the maps in lore section.

NO: Then make a bounty but include who is paying and where to claim it from outside the sword coast area.

Note: Your bounty will cross over into the sword coast area. The Fist will only take action if they catch the PvP when it happens, and even then it will only be the attacker who will receive the RP punishment.

YES: Go to point 2.

2. Am I an official, noble or person of influence?

Officials include - Flaming Fist, Candle Keep & Beregost City Watch

Nobles include – Anyone who has earned an RP title before their name.

Person of influence - Leaders of established factions (there are a lot to list but you can find the list if you click on User Control Panel then usergroups at the left side.)

YES: Post your bounty, include who you are and who you represent and who ultimately will pay the bounty money.

NO: Go to point 3.

3. So you’re in the sword coast area and are not in the position of authority to place a bounty. You have a couple of choices.

Post your bounty outside the sword coast. Making sure that anyone who reads your RP thread is well aware where they are reading it. If you don’t then it is assumed by default your post was made in Baldurs Gate by the Elfsong tavern.

Seek out someone listed in point 2 to post the bounty for you.

Alternatively, seek out the assassins guild or just a lone wolf assassin and sort out a contract with them.

You can, however, decide to post a bounty without the proper authority but you will be committing a couple of crimes.
Well, all of the validity on my own post aside, barring any IC context assumed or otherwise, I assume this is made in response to my own post out of a frustration of sorts. If this is another misunderstanding (I seem to be good at that >_>) then ignore this post. If not, I implore a continued reading.

Let it be made clear that both of my posts in the bounty board were, entirely, IC, the first and the second. I thought that was obvious in the context they were typed, but apparently not enough, so if there was offensive taken, I would like to make clear that none was meant.

If there is an issue where I posted it, the reason it was there was twofold: firstly, it was the only bounty board I saw, and if there is more, I really didn't (and still don't) have time to search all of the fourms. There's a lot of them, and I have IRL work that is constantly keeping me busy. Furthermore, on an IC note, bounties like this can, and do, get posted in places they shouldn't by people whom should not post them, often promptly removed by some of the guards or whomever is in power (and this is exactly what I was expecting to happen when I posted that).

Once again, this is me acting in character. Nothing offensive meant out of it. It seemed like an IC board to take IC actions, and that's exactly what I aimed to do. If this is incorrect, then I apologize for my misinterpretation

But...

Seeing as this is an "RP-Critique" board, critique me IC'ly: Did I do good? :) The character whom posted this happens to have a serious disrespect for Fist etiquette, rules, and general process of things. In fact they just don't like the fists (most). Especially on the second note, I hope that feeling was IC'ly conveyed. I hope to deliver the best experience to myself and others while I am on this server, even if I've only been here a short time so far. :D

Nothing to do with yourself, infact I have enjoyed the RP conflict. It's more to do with recent bounty posts over the last two or three month. I got some PMs from players who didn't understand why there was a crack down on bounty posters. Thought I'd explain it publicly from my point of view and the logic I use.

Ah, okay, fair enough.

Whew, well... since I am new to the forums and this game in general, although I've been on the server several times and some of you may have seen me already.

I could always use advice and tips on what I should pay attention to more. I am horrible at remembering details which should influence my character's reaction, and playing a devil-blooded tiefling doesn't help any.

I like playing with Krisaga so far though, I am trying to play her very 'peasant-like' (And she's true neutral right now.)... Has superstitions about other races, particularly elves. Doesn't respect the law too much beyond the vauge authority figures yet fully expects them to assist when trouble starts... and gets easily intimidated by beings and people she perceives to be more powerful than herself, which at this point is basically anyone and everyone. Oh, and likes to drink, because it's fun, and little else.

I don't have some huge back story like most, (Though that's largely because I lack the patience for one) and want to let her experiences in her adventures shape who she is. Only 25 or so years, and what little backstory I have places her under a wizard's care and study. (Despite being a sorcerer, that's sort of her 'gimmick' if you can call it that. A sorcerer who studies magic.) What else... comes from neverwinter, where the horns got her chased away from pretty much everywhere, so she wears hats and hoods nearly 24/7.

Some of you have seen how I play her... Ideally I'm going for kind of reserved, dislikes extremes on either the morality or lawfulness axis, and blathers on about her few interests, like magic... I always feel like I'm missing something that I should be mindful of though. I keep her from revealing her heritage too much unless it's unwittingly alluding to it...

That's the main gist of what I have, and she's technically still an open book, so what sort of suggestions might you all have? Or am I already treading upon a rule somewhere that I overlooked?

((And yes, this is my first post. Geez, I'm lost.))

Looks pretty good to me man. I usually make my characters true to the steriotype of that race, with a few exceptions and then let the characters in-game experiences guide the rest. A good place to start is by doing a google search if you are unfamiliar with a race, class or deity. For instance, tieflings usually hate aasimars by default (opposite ends of the spectrum), and sorcerers usually don't get along with wizards or warlocks, and vice versa. What you are doing so far is more than fine though.

Hi there Krisaga,

Welcome to Baldur’s Gate! Quite impressed with your RP so far, especially in your interaction with the characters Mia Desdemona and Jero. I think it is perfectly okay to be backstory-lite at this early stage, as you will likely find that the details will develop on their own and your backstory will flesh out quite naturally over time. Some players like to thoroughly write their characters in advance, while others like to test the water a bit and slowly fill in the gaps. It sounds to me like you have put a fair bit of thought in already though.

Now that I think about it, have I ever actually signed up to this thread…?

Been here eight months now, so no more excuses. :?

*warily signs her name on the dotted line*

I didn't even notice this existed.

hXcjedders-Eral'ai Danoscia, but most know him as Seril Da'nas.

Yeah, I did at least one google search on tieflings, and I sort of shamelessly stole'borrowed' the whole 'skin itching' thing when paladins or Aasmir are near. As it is though, even if they are near and she dislikes them, she won't dare say anything cause she knows they'd likely kick her butt.

I also play up the whole animosity between wizards and sorcerers too. I was tickled when hearing wizards grumble about her getting 'a free ride'.

The only other problem I'm having is mechanical though, and I shouldn't mess with an RP thread on that. (Classes and skills since I'm the sort of idiot to spread out the points and be good at nothing)

Heh heh..I have not RP'ed with your character yet, but now I can't wait to. I love the whole "skin crawling" thing when Aasimar are near Tieflings. When I can remember to do so..I make sure my Aasimar paladin has a bit of tick (it's usually his nose looking like he has an itch) when Tieflings are around.

Quick side note: www.nwn2db.com has a character builder, but some things are slightly different on the server. Other than that, the Tips and Tricks forums can get you started on a direction for your build.

I know a few good tiefling players around here, so maybe they'll help you with the finer points if you ask nicely. Some though play good characters, so it's proof your character is what you make it.

Heh, well thanks for the words of encouragement. I could go into finer details but I'd risk just talking too much about my own character. I suppose I should sign on here as well. I've RPed for quite a while and learned a few things that's helped keep it interesting for me, and I'd be happy to share.

Well, I'm surprised I haven't gotten around to posting here, either! For those who do not know me, I am Zix Ayer'kil, a tiefling with a heavy ego, thats self-centered, power hungry, and quick-to-anger. Some people have met him, the Fist pretty much all seem to know him as a trouble maker, and he has made saveral... nah, a bunch of enemies. He is fun, though!

Chaotic Evil with a high intelligence and no wisdom, for those wondering. Explains his impulsive behavior.

Believes only in the power of the Weave, thinks of clerics/pallies too weak to rely on a god/goddes.

Hobbies include massacreing innocents, breaking laws, and trapping people into a web of words to end in trouble.

Zix started as a chaotic neutral, Arcane trickster. He really looked only towards having a "fun" time of causing minor mischief. After several issues with the "good" folks of the lands, he has decided that evil is the only way. He has several targets for his anger, including and mostly: the Fist, the Temple of Lathander, and other past rp with PC's. Zix also seeks pure power in the Weave, taking that as the only serious thing in life. I'd go more in depth with who he finds to be friends and who he chooses to be kind to, but I think that's something for others to figure out 8-)

I am not sure how long I've been playing, roughly off and on for more than a year, as a guess.

And, as a final note, my apologies for anyone I may have offended through RP. I stay cool headed all the time, and anything that I say that may be nasty is just Zix being Zix  Thanks!
