  • spell usage, spells used in server 1 should still be used up on server 2
  • feats with uses per day usage (same logic as above)
  • temporary item properties transfer (flame weapon, magic vestment, etc)
  • linked creatures (companion, familiar, summons, packhorse)
  • HP ratio

I am curious as to how Tells will function cross server.

It is my understanding that Tells are entirely private between the sender and recipient. How will these be transfered between two players on different servers, and will they still remain entirely private?

Please remember:
- You're not getting much XP from these areas either. The loot penalty is no different.
- Loot drops from corpses and containers other than chests were specifically exempted; you can still find things, you will just have less opportunities to.
- There is nothing preventing your character from entering these areas and exploring them. It just won't be as profitable for you as it was before.

That would be a great help! Please post the character's race, level, whether you are a UD or surface char, which area you looted (including which floor of multi-level dungeons), whether or not the chest *crunched*, if you picked the lock, and what you found.

Maybe a community table or spreadsheet? This would be a huge help for us in assessing how the tweaks to how chests work have affected the loot distribution, since the treasure table is very, very long and somewhat uneven across different categories.

I'm tinkering with a system for cross server tells and cross server scry. It works by having the servers send status updates and player tells to a message process that then sends it onwards to any other servers that might be connected and listening. I don't want to make any promises about anything, but so far it looks promising.

One of the advantages with such a setup is that player tells don't need to be stored anywhere on disk, they are just passed from process to process and then disappear. So the privacy would be pretty solid. At most we might initially log something like "player x sent a message to player y" (but not the content of the message) for debugging reasons.

>supposedly cr19, I'm 29.

>get surrounded by 5 mobs with 27 AB (how is a level 19 character supposed to survive idk). Also get level drained for extra enjoyment that needs a wand of resto to fix which I didn't bring because I don't want to waste consumables now that ogre caves, vampires in haunted house and gullykin crypt give me 40 gold per chest.

>Spend 4000 gold to survive thru heal potions.

>Get rewarded with 50 gold and a scroll.

Also on...

"You don't get XP from them either."

You don't need a constant stream of XP to be able to handle things at your level. You need a constant source of gold for consumables for both high-end dungeons and DM events.

DM events invariably cost me 50-70K gold due to potions of Heal.

FYI, the CR of an Area is based off of Group/Party play, as in a CR 19 Area is designed for 3-5 Level 19 PCs.

If you solo and Area, best to add 5 Levels to the CR, to gauge if it is level appropriate for your PC. Thus, soloing a CR 19 Area would require at least a Level 24 PC, in most cases, excluding the most uber of powerbuilds preloaded with Epic gear. Only those supposed "Top Tier 1" builds can ever solo Area CRs 1-to-1.

That's really overestimating the difficulty I think, you definitely don't need top builds with epic gear to go solo in areas of your CR.

I've tested it! You absolutely cannot solo a 1-to-1 CR-to-PC Level Area unless you have a powerbuild and epic gear.

However, it could very well be that the CR Area list on the Wiki is just completely off, and needs a recalculation. But I'm will to be you MONEY that I'm right, considering how much I've played many different builds in the recent years.

And, another thing, it isn't necessary even, to match up 1-to-1 the CR to PC Level—your PC will get max 50xp at CRs 4-5 values below PC Level, anyway, and, it is far easier and less likely your PC will die (thus XP loss).

Guys...it ain't rocket science to pay attention to the mechanics and figure out the "sweet spot" for leveling, XP and Item gains, and best XP to never dying ratio, on a rather static Server. And I don't even use a spreadsheet (anymore...), like so many others far more "tuned in" than I am.

Agreed, but a lot of that comes to preparation, like OOCly knowing that you need deathward in certain places, knowing about boss dispelling,, etc.

And that's been important to me at least, the first time I did VoD, Serpent Hills, etc. Was really surprising and nice but going there on new characters is just not the same because Player already knows what is going to happen next.

I'm kind of with Steve on this one... but it's all kind of relative to what build you're playing, and how experienced you are at playing it.
For example, lets look at some of the top CR areas:

Vault Level 1
Forest of Wyrms
Vault Level 2
Frost Giants
Graypeak Mountains
Graypeak Castle
Graypeak Camp
Speartop
Vault Level 3
Vault Level 4
Lyran's Hold

My strongest level 30 is, arguably, my cleric/SF/monk, and I am fairly decent at playing him. I can safely say that he(I) would not survive 3 to 5 of those areas on my own... namely Speartop, Lyrans, and trying to run the entirety of the greypeaks in 1 go.

Probably one of my weakest level 30's, and I am loathe to admit it, is my sneak, who I have the most experience playing. I can safely say(while grumbling) that he would only survive the Frost giants, and most of the Forest of Wyrms. Eh, maybe most of the greypeaks as well(not the balor, or the cave with the boss). No f'ing way in heck I'm surviving the rest on my own.

My ranger would die(and has) in half of those, my mage too(he might do better if I wasn't so average playing casters), and my other cleric(who is a complete Frankenstein oddball build) would die horribly in most of them. My UD bard would probably be just fine in the same as my SF/cleric(unless he caught a dispel in the face).

Honestly, I think the CR's are off in some areas for sure, take Gullykin crypt for instance, which is listed as CR15. There is no way in snot-balls that the end boss(and possibly the lich's in there) are only CR 15. And if they are, they are on steroids.

The current CR of Areas list on the Wiki is fairly accurate...as long as you understand the CR (challenge rating) is for a Party of 3-5 Tier 2-3 builds. And this is how it should be, yes?

Graypeaks is CR 27. I can easily solo it with a powerbuilt Lvl 30 Warlock, but a Lvl 27 powerbuilt Bard build struggled, and I sanely opted for a CR 25 area to visit, because I couldn’t stand the idea of taking an death XP hit. :naughty:

Without a doubt, the Build one plays determines the CR experience. Poor Hoihe!! <:D
