Talk's of expanding ones reputation and renown takes place in the dark smoky tavern called The Broken Goblet. Like any adventurer who seeks a reputation and wish for a list of deeds to be remembered in songs, the minstrels who sing them also would like their deeds to be remembered.

Image

Storytellers, musicians, enchanters, dancers, and lorekeepers, bards were prone to wanderlust, traveling from one place to another in search of new lore or perhaps in the hopes of spreading what they already knew. Bards were among the most versatile of adventurers. While not necessarily as tough as a fighter, or as skilled as a rogue, or as intelligent as a wizard, bards were widely capable in a number of different situations and were widely recognized as a sort of "jack-of-all-trades."

Image

Bards don’t believe in goodbyes they know that the roads they walk are winding, and they generally tend to come back to people and places they've known and been before, and often at just the right time. A king is a king, but a bard is the heart and soul of the people, they are their life in song, and the lamp which guides their steps along the paths of destiny. A bard is the essential spirit of any kingdom. They are the linking ring, the golden cord which unites the manifold ages of the Kingdoms, binding all that is past with all that is yet to come.

Image

Patrons of the Broken Goblet would know just how much the bartender cared for the few bards that ever came to preform.

"Thy magic in songs are more then simple arcane magic. It wards the things that cannot be seen or physically touched. They inspire the uninspired, they control the moods just as much as they can empower them. And their songs are like a good drink. It can make yer bloody feel good."
β€œWe drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

Perception

Necromancy -is the practice of magic or black magic involving communication with the dead by summoning their spirits as apparitions or visions, or by resurrection for the purpose of divination; imparting the means to foretell future events; discovery of hidden knowledge; returning a person to life, or to use the dead as a weapon. Sometimes referred to as "death magic," the term may also sometimes be used in a more general sense to refer to black magic or witchcraft.

Image

"You have your secrets just like everyone else , including myself. But this the Goblet. I ain't trying to overstep anything."

"Truthfully, I respect your professionalism, even if it can lead to complications..."

"Had I acted out and favored a side, it would have be the moment I turn this Goblet into every other tavern."

"If you had the chance to eliminate Entropy itself, the cold ruthless void that devours all, would you do it?"

"Nope."

"Why?"

"Take my goblets for an example. If the drink too strong, it more poison then anything. If it too light, ain't no one gonna enjoy the shite."

"... There was a time I would have called you 'worthy champion' and aided you unconditionally for your wisdom..."

"Why is it you think I picked to come here and not any of the places in the Gate, or Soubar? I don't lean to one side. I avoid the headaches and sleep good at night."

"If I were ever going to retire from trying to keep everything in balance, I would likely look for someone like yourself to succeed me.."

Succeed? An Elf woman once told me I was a man of black and white. Was I truly? Many knew me as simply the wanderer. Every so going about, passing by, with no real purpose or direction.

Image

Others thought me mysterious, giving words and claims that I was something dark and bad. Yet others would speak in my defense of how good of a man I was. I once use to care how others would look at me. What did they see when their eye's stared upon me.

Did they see a dark rider when their eyes looked upon me?

Image

Or did they see a white horse?

Image

Each night, when I sat in taverns sipping whatever delectable throat soother I was in the mood for, I had wrote in books of whom I was, is and forever will be. I had much enjoyed the writing. It helped paint this so called life that I had lived, and timed the moment that I would forever leave the Coast. However I had stopped working on the book when I had became this ..bartender. Why did I stop writing? Doing thus had made me relaxed, and brought my mind to ease. It helped me relive memories and moments I had, that I would cherish deeply. Conversations of companions and even some I would call friends even. I had met many within the city of Baldur's over the long years of my life growing into adult hood. The experienced shared, the trials undergone, the tribulations that I had to overcome. Roaringshore or what I call the Shore', was nothing like the cobble stones streets of Baldur's Gate.

Image

I had love that city. Somewhere within my beating heart, I still do. But it has changed, changed far too much even before the silence of Gods. A person would hope to failure, in hope's that every generation would forever remain the same. Change will always happen, it is destiny. Every place in this world of magic and dragons, will forever change. No matter what one does. Would I ever choose a side to tip the scales between light and dark? Nay I say. Too much of one thing tips the scale of balance, and life would go as flat or spoiled as stale ale. As much as the world needs its good, it as equally needs its bad. Or there will no longer be a need for any of them. With the game of Gods that is undergoing, it will fall upon the living in the moral realm that will pave the way for how the future will become. Scribes will need to be diligent and document everything if the future is ever to learn of our mistakes of the past.

Image

Kings, Dukes, Guardians, Dreadlords and even leaders of Quell'ars, must not falter and continue with the sense of duty if they don't want their world to crumble and fall. If every man, woman, child and even creature continues to strive, continues to stay diligent and zestfully loyal to their cause, the world will only expand and thrive. And men like me will continue watching or listening to how the world changes. After all, I'm simply a bloody bartender that works in a Pirate infested shore. My known titles are too perverted and vulgar to be of importance to do anything in this world. I'm no King or Lord nor a High Captain. Just a bartender that loves the tales in a good song and likes watching drunks make fools of themselves. A simple man that would consider a dark rider and a pale horse one and the same.
As the bartender of the Broken Goblet, I would say..

"Give a person a drink like power, and watch them get drunk to idiocy. And people like me, gets to enjoy watching them for mere entertainment."
β€œWe drink to get drunk, we get drunk to fall asleep, when we fall asleep, we commit no sin, when we commit no sin, we go to the Heaven's."

The Weekend of Eleint 1358

Another weekend has arrived! And what will be instore within the Shore'?!

Image

Another confrontation? More black eye's or broken bones? Will friendships be severed or will new one's be created or even mended?! What of the rumors of the roads, will they reach the ears of staff and patrons within the smoky filled, stale ale smelling tavern known as the Broken Goblet? What minstrels will pass by and think to make a few coins for the the exchange of tales and songs? Will harden and stern woman find themselves drunk and make off with a man? Or will it be the drunken men that keeps their fortitude about them and make off with a lass?! When it comes to the Broken Goblet, its never known what sort of weekend it may be!

Image

For anything and nearly everything happens in the Goblet! A shady deal, a meeting, the passing of information, fights, romance, songs and dance, and the spread of rumors and or tales of grand stories! However, the regular patrons of the Broken Goblet, will say the only sure thing that will happen, the bartender will come in to work and serve drinks like he always does since he's started working there.

Image

AND!

His drinks no matter if it be Ale, mead, wine, or whiskey..it will come in a..

Image

Goblet!..

Gifts, Jobs and Stone faces

Image

"I almost forgot!"..."Got something for you."

"Well well what do we have here.."..."Where did you find such a thing?"

"I know people."

Image

The first day of the weeks end and like always, things are never quite the same. A gift was given, a gift appreciated and cherished. When someone you barely know, gifts you something of great value it makes one wonder the purpose or even reason behind it. Others wouldn't think twice and simply take the added boon to their satchels.

"Dedication and quick feet is what I want. Non of that half arse shite. And no questions simply deliver or pick up."

"Yeah, well..... if what you're gunna have me carry is alchemical an' might blow up in m' face if I drop it, I kinda wanna know. So this "no questions" thing is a lot t' ask for....An' th' coin has te be correspondingly higher."

"A woman that like her coins..I like that."

Image

"How often are you hired for ..work..?"

"However often I come across the jobs."

"Well simply consider, me as an option for work. Incase you find yer self bored enough. "

"Everyone's got a price. The ones that say otherwise are lying to you. The strong take what the weak can't protect. And then they die."

Image

Some people are worth more than a business deal, much more than an employment contract. The minerals of this world combined cannot match some peoples value. Everybody can work if their not lazy, but only quality work comes from quality workers. The bartender of the Broken Goblet will always make the claim, he has seen the strangest things or people walk into the tavern for a drink. And like always just when he thought he seen it all, something new walks in the door.

*Writes on a chalkboard* "Will try local drink item"

*He reads the words* "Oh pike me, another one that cant talk...Very well come on over to the bar."

*Writes on the chalkboard again* "Common to not talk?"

"Been another fella that comes around often, cant talk because of the wards. Always had to write out things on parchment."

Image

Golems- Were several types of magically created constructs. They were mindless, emotionless creations that knew only how to fulfill the orders of their creators. But this man was not one...the thought. And since this was the Broken Goblet, the bartender didn't seek to pry to much. After all, any and all was welcomed to the Goblet.

Image

Aye the day surely had a slow start that soon built momentum. It wasn't long after he took over the bar from Captain Pike that the patrons started to arrive. A pleasing smile formed upon his face when he seen his minstrel. She was a flower to him but often times a bit too cheeky to his liking. But she knew her value to him and always tempted his limits. And the Goblet wasn't the Goblet without its songs.

Image

Later in the day...

"What you think of the new look?"

Image

"Get a knife and strap it to yer leg, never know when yer need it."

"How ya been?"

"Good same ol' shite. Work and work, Got word from Rose that Netanya wants to meet me."

*Snorts* "Good luck with that...." *He suddenly glances at the opening and closing door* "Another sneak?"

"Been sneaks in here all bloody day."

" Come to spy on us workin folk." *Snorts*

"If they show themselves, they might be able to get a goblet" *He laughs*

"Aye." *Tusky smirk*

And this was just the first day of the weekend....

Messenger

Many people seem to neglect the importance of a messenger or a courier. These dedicated individuals strive to get the job done. And their job is just as dangerous. With the one goal in mind, that is to get the message to its destination, they must avoid harm, sneak around dangers too formidable or outrun them entirely if they could.

Image

No matter the danger, no matter the peril, they need to deliver the message. And the bartender of the Broken Goblet as acquired such a messenger. Keeping the routes small for now until the messenger gets familiar with the land and roads. And the first message was sent to Beregost.

Image

"In due time, you will be known throughout the lands. And your service will build you a reputation of your own."

Meanwhile, as the messenger had taken off , the Goblet continue serving patrons and listening to the stuff of songs and tales. Keeping goblets filled, and engaging in dance and conversations of the world.

A Bartender and his Minstrel..

"Hey! You look like your heading out."

"Mhm, figured while the sun is still up, I might as do some lootin before patrons arrive. Care to join?"

"Sure! Let me go change into my armor. I've not ventured so far north. Where we going?"

"Oh just nothing major, nothing for you to worry about."

Image

"Okay ready!"

"Leggo!"

"RRRRRRAAAAWWWWRRRR"

Image

Large maws snapped with a fiery desire to tear flesh apart. Blades cutting into dragon hide or deflecting bone crunching teeth and claws. Loud roars with the stench of acidic breaths filled the room. The sounds of inspiration songs played nearby. Rolling and tumbling to avoid the worse situation while bardess magic unleashed with each cast being prayed upon to be successful.

Image

The pair didn't hesitate in their every action. For with the power of songs, their focus was crisp and sharp like a razors edge. Each decision, each strike, came with deliberate efforts and precision. The feeling of the inspiration made all efforts feel nearly effortless. It felt only after a few heartbeats and breaths later that the large black dragon laid dead at his feet.

"Now that was interesting now wasn't it?"

"Yes!"

"Lets hope we don't run into any more dragons on the way out hmm?'

"Your jinxing us!"

"RRRRRRRAAAAAWWWWRRRRRRR!!!"

Image

"SEE TOLD YOU THAT YOU JINXED US!"

"Very well then..guess we fight through hmm? Hope your not encumbered!"

And so the bartender and his minstrel pushed forward, dispatching or slaying anything hostile to them. With profits in mind and a Goblet to return too they rushed their way back out. With what he thought was be an interesting tale, later became a tail of other things..

Trapped Within..

Sometimes a person may feel like a feeble and powerless pawn, at some moment in their life. This apprehension can come out of the blue, in the middle of the day, at the center of a public place, like a cerebral attack. Check mated by 'daily routine', they may feel trapped in a smothering set of circumstances and only a deconstruction of all impeding barriers can bring about a vital mental deliverance.

Image

I am often mortified by the prospect of becoming hopelessly trapped in someone else's story. Yes I had not consider others who are at a disadvantage and trapped within themselves. What may be frustrating when eyes look from the outside and attempt to look in, it might be even more frustrating from eyes looking out. A drop of sanity trickles slowly away, a hand may reach but for some strange or resistant reason, such a hand is unable to cling to what was once precious.

Image

When something of value, something worthy to hold dear, slowly slips away from your grasp, the feeling is agonizing, frustrating. The cry of rage wishes to escapes but they can't, for even their cries are silent from parted lips. And when eyes see such a image, they tend to see them lesser or insane, dumb or stupid. Yet they are not the ones experiencing such the agony. Tis always something that was always one sided to a coin that never seems to fall on the opposite side.

"Foul mouthed, dirt minded wretch! brigand! Deviant!"

"Not the worst of things I been called..but I can settle"
*Good that you still have morals and self respect.*

"Oooooooooooo! I should turn you in to something!"

"Wait w-ait..I still lost as to how this became about me? "
*Good girl cling on to your sanity, and dignity, it's still within your control*

"Die in a blizzard! ..hmmmph!"

"Celestia, you've made your point. He's sorry. Right?"

"Blizzard? Ah , must be one of Solaris' friends.."
*I'm only sorry that she seems trapped within herself.*

"I was thinking I could make him in to a mouse and his orc friend a panther"

"Why he gets to be the big kitty? ..Ah you favor Orc bloods is it?"

"No I just want to see you get eaten."

*Atta girl, don't ever let someone tell you, your crazy.*

The bartender if ever asked of what he thought of people who are considered insane or crazy, he would tell you..

β€œAs long as they know they are trapped, they still have a chance to escape.”
*For even I know how it feels to be trapped within my own mind*

1357 DR

Image

And had escaped from such a prison..

New faces...Pale but Dark..

"Passin through?

" eventually ... current state of things make travel ... more bothersome than its worth ... "

"Ah yer mean the whole magic gone crazy thing?"

" ..magic ... kingdoms ... men... everything's seem a little off doesn't it ?"

"Aye, tis the results of the games the Gods play . What ever goin on up there, surely effecting everybody else lives down here."

" ..didnt take you for a religious man ... then again I have yet met a sailor whom doesn't give tribute to Umberlee ... I wager even elven sailors secretly give tribute ... you know just in case she's watching ... "

Image

Months have passed, and yet the world doesn't seem to change for the better. Slowly things have gotten worse, for some they think it the better. The city of Baldur's hold celebration and talks of parties and feasts will soon to come for the celebration of the Tyrant Gods death. The death of Bane. Is it really so? Do the words from the roads hold true? Perhaps the reason of not seeing any Zhentarim soldiers of late is the evidence of a dissipating force? Or does something else sinister stir in the darkness hidden well from prying eyes? Will the balance between light and darkness soon become a chaotic tip that will plunge the world as we know to a crumbling mess? Has the light finally manage a means to overcome the darkness enough to push it back to reveal it's self no longer? Only time will tell, and until then, the bartender of the Broken Goblet continues to work within the lawless pirate hold of Roaringshore. Work is work, and he got goblets to fill still.

Image

" your people usually call me Ezzy ... as my name tends to get you tongue tied ... "

"Names Sel"

Pirates, smugglers, thieves, murderers, it never matters to the Broken Goblet, for it serves drinks to any and all patrons. So long as they adhere to the rules of the Tavern they will receive service. Violators will be removed violently alive or dead, their actions will be the cause.
The bartender of the Broken Goblet was once asked how and why could he work in such a place. HIs answer was..

"I like fun, and it seems a lot of folks forgot how to have fun now a days. And the Goblet provides that neutral ground where the north and south can sit and have drinks."

Walk with Legends...

"What type would you call me then?... Besides regular."

"You are nothing like her, your more serious,
Your dedicated. You do your work no matter how sluggish,
or down right boring it is. You just do it. Devoted at that."

People tend to over look the little traits that show how valuable a person truly is. Like myself, I have met other's very dedicated to their work. And heard of even more. But the "more" dwarfs in comparison to the amount that over looks our valuable traits. The days of Sir Jonas, Isabella Villame and the other Candlekeep Guards. The Trade way rangers Dallenthel, Valenthel. The Fist soldiers who stood post for hours through rain, thunder or snow on the Chionthar Bridge. And the various other adventures that would provide escort to Beregost. Funny how I can look upon this woman, and hear her tales of walking lonely roads. When in truth...

Each and every day, that she starts her patrols..
Image

She walks along side the faces of old...
Image

Other's who were duty bound, just as much as her..
Image

Who relentlessly held dedication to duty through rain, thunder and snow..
Image

Nay I say, she does not walk alone. Her eyes simply does not see, that she walks with many down the same road.

Image

As the woman finished her drink and set the empty goblet down on the bar, she bid the bartender farewell with a nod. After pulling her hood over her head, she strides up the steps to leave the Broken Goblet, and continue her patrols. The remaining patrons of that night would had heard the bartender say after the woman left...

"A champion is one who is remembered. A legend is one who is never forgotten."
"To walk in the footsteps of the great, you first got to put on their shoes."

Goblet full of Bad..

β€œPeople who claim that they're evil are usually no worse than the rest of us...
It's people who claim that they're good, or any way better than the rest of us,
that you have to be wary of.”

Image
I question everybody that believes the world should only bask in light and good. I mean truly, what would your good do if evil didn't exist? What would the world look like if all the shadows disappeared? After all, shadows are cast by all things and people. Here is the shadow that radiates off my sword, but shadows also come from trees and living beings. Do you want to strip the world of all trees and living things just because of ones fantasy of enjoying naked light? If so, you're stupid.
Image
Evil isn’t the real threat to the world. Stupid is just as destructive as Evil, maybe more so, and it’s a hell of a lot more common. What we really need is a crusade against Stupid. That might actually make a difference. Because the amount of stupid in this world makes me nearly want to spill my bitter drink for something sweet and sour.
Image
Somewhere in a smoky filled tavern with the smell of stale ale that was spilled and not cleaned up, and the sea breeze that seeps in each time the front door opens, was a tavern filled with what many would call a basket of evil. Evil of all shapes and size and forms. Some of it, talk little of it. Some talked big of it. Others didn't speak at all of it. Some evil, couldn't even be seen. Rumors of parties and celebration of dead gods turned knuckles white and causes seething teeth's. Trickery, betrayal, were only tips of the scale. In the eyes of some evil, the good commits trespass just as equal.
Image
But still, regardless of fuming anger or the talk of hatred and revenge, the drinking didn't stop. The bartender surely didn't let the drinking stops. Nor did he stop his minstrel from preforming tales and deeds woven within songs. He never let's it stop. After all, Goblet coins, is goblet coins and Miss Jackie loves her Goblet coins, nearly as much as she loves the goblets made of blown glass with stems of elegant designs.

For those that celebrate so early in belief that the world sheds away darkness and shadows. The bartender would say to them...

Image
"When the good dies, their names get etched in memories or if chosen, they can even get resurrected. But when evil dies, they tend to become forgotten, only to later be reborn. The way of life is a comic thing. Everything tends to repeat it's self, just look up history and you will see it. One big wheel of funny and stupid. A fresh face, a new name, a new generation, it does not matter. What you think you have done, or believe what your going to do? Has already been done a thousand times over. What your eye's need to look at, is who's spins the wheel."

((OOC))

Due to still suffering from a cold, I had another day off and was very surprised at visiting players that came in for whatever reasons. Much appreciated again seeing that it wasn't even the weekend yet.

On another note I just want to give heads up to the people following the thread, Im getting near to a point I need to change up my posts. Running out of content server side, and Im getting near to a boundary line I can not cross in risk of dangerous meta gaming that can be hurtful to a lot of peoples RP. I wont cross that line by any means because that ruins gameplay and peoples long hard work , time and energy.

Real life is real life and everybody got one to live, to include staff, Devs and Dms. But sadly lack of content is lack of content. Unless DM's start throwing down more chaos and calamity around the server, or players start getting more creative and throwing down some chaos and calamity, I gonna end up running down to simple casual postings, and or individual rp encounters or meets. As much as I want to get around and get into somethings myself, I hold back some because I like providing entertainment.

I got dedicated minstrels preforming , which I do pay out of my own looting coins, and I now got a dedicated messenger who I am also paying out of my own looting coins. I didn't have too. But I did so, to help spread motivation and rp around, and to give other players something to do other than the normal. Tarot reading is upcoming and events created or hosted by others as well.

If you want me to post about any one of your characters, please come on by but bring me something. Dont just come buy a drink and give glares or stares and grunts and attitudes or what nots. Give me content! A good ingame story, a grand ideal or your pcs point of view in things. A good Rumor even if picked from the forums, because I dont use forum rumors, I want players to tell me of them instead. AND PLEASE dont throw me your bio story. Theres a section on the forums for that. I care not if your a pro player or a brand new noob, your more than welcome to come rp if a seedy like tavern in a Pirates village is something within your reasons.

Lastly for Gods sake, advertise the server some! Need more fresh blood!

Words of the Roads...

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and many questions are left unanswered to the ears of the pirates, thieves and smugglers that frequents the Broken Goblet. Amos of House Blackrose still imprisoned however some start to be doubtful of it , some believe he's living a comfort life and well protected. Whereabouts of his close knit family becomes a wonder. The Fort Prominence...word of its seizure opens many suspicious questions. What will come of it?

Image

The Zhentarim Force...with their God slayed, does it shake their resolved? The Dark castle remains still yet very few signs of life is seen. A silent before a storm maybe? Or a need to collect themselves? Surely celebrated parties within the Gates for the Tyrant Gods death brings forth mockery to those loyal to the Black Hand.

Image

Talks of companionship severed , conflicts brewing or subsiding is a thing only time will tell.

Relationships and new found friendships, are they solid like rock, or merely a ruse? Do men and woman have each other in their minds when apart? Or is a thing merely a thing? When lovers disappear for too long the question are asked if they will even return and how much longer till one decides to move on? A woman could only wait for so long.

Image

More talks of corruption and under minding progresses. Intrigue, deception and counter measures sway on the tip of tongues and drunken lips. It seems revenge draws near someplace somewhere.

What of the mage hunters one wonders? Are the roads now safe once again only to avoid going near Amn?

Image

Spawning Devils south of Beregost is dire talk. Opened rifts? Conjured portals? What the cause if there is a cause and whos responsible.

Image

Talks of the City of Baldur's Docks district slowly growing a more brutal approach, were also words that came in during the late hours. Something must have stir the anger of the underworld within the city.

Never give up trying to build the world you can see, even if others can’t see it. Only a fool looks at things at face value and ignores all possible potentials. Why does any stationary things ever die? The bartender of the Broken Goblet would tell yer..." Simple, yer gave up while I'm still fill'n goblets."

Image

If there's no sun, the plant dies, if there's no rain, the plant dies. If you don't make sure the plant gets what it needs to in order to flourish, then would do you bloody expect to happen? Taverns, Inns, hidden groves or guilds, castles or ships and any other establishments will wither and rot like a decomposing corpse, and it wont be long till it becomes a stripped, hollowed skeletal remain of what it once was.

Image

Never give up your desire to be what you want to be. Stay focused, persistent and relentless. Because when your home, your bond of friendships, your guild halls, your order, your kingdom, your crew withers away and dies, and your the last person standing, well its obviously shows you gave up and you now stand on a mound of once was.

Image

I on the other hand, will dig in the deepest trenches, climb the highest mountains, face odd numbers or face the largest one and travel the distances to keep what I cherish thriving an keep it very much alive. No matter the slow days, no matter the dull days, I will keep pushing and pushing and pushing. I am willing do anything and everything by all means necessary. Are you?"

Image

Desire is a thing I call very powerful. Tis was my answer when two women asked me what I thought desire was. It makes a person do the most extreme of things. And in my experience, best to not stand in-between someone's desire for something, unless your ready to see the nine hells.

"And for all those who thought I couldn't keep pumping life from the Broken Goblet, my question to you is...What's your excuse? "

"When kids are around one, they learn that they can send stuff flying through the air. It's amusing and hilarious to them."

"Kids will be kids hmm? Cant really fault them in what they do or how they experience things. Much like when you first held a sword. You cut, slice, and chop at air, at wood, at a practice dummy, and then well maybe a man."

"I told that man she's too young to appreciate those ships besides chewing or throwing them, but he wanted to build her one anyway. I guess she thought it was a flying ship."

"Where is yer husband anyways, ain't normal that I see you two apart."

''...at home with Bea, and trying to salvage his model ship."

The most perfect love is that between a mother and child. It is unending. And they damn near will risk they own lives even sacrifice themselves , just so their child has a chance to live out a life. Raising a child is never easy. It takes full commitment. The magical feeling of seeing a living breathing being of that which you created is magic of the greatest kind. Love between a mother and a child is not earned nor given, its is simply unconditional.
