I have a book somewhere that is all about drow, it mentions some stuff about UD druids and the like. If i find it i will post some material for us to look at. But if i remember correctly drow druids usually use the power to dominate nature and use their command of beasts as a tool.

Anyone ever thought the meaning of drow eye color before creating drow?

Yes, but since their eyes change color from pale to red when they're using Darkvision (at least according to NWN2wiki), I thought it was a tricky decision. For example, since Sshamath is lit by faerie fire, I wouldn't think they'd need to use their Darkvision there. So I gave my drow pale blue eyes since I don't personally like red eyes ;) It would be neat if their eyes could glow red just when you toggle Darkvision on.

Hey! Me too my drow has blue eyes.

Wanted to do this so it'd be harder to get in the Mori'Hyanda. They hated blue eyes.

:D

Actually I remember snippet about how eye color can show your background. While yellow eye color is the most common, red is reserved for drow of noble lineage. Violet is the eye color of commoners. I think it was 'Drow of the Underdark' that said such info.

I didn't know you had a drow character! *blue-eyed high five* ;)

Hm, that's an interesting thought, but I haven't found any reference to it... Drow of the Underdark says, "Eye color varies about as much as hair: Red, white, purple, green, and gold all appear with roughly equal frequency (red being, perhaps, slightly more common than the others)." It doesn't mention anything about a relationship between eye color and background.

I hope you guys don't mind me jumping in. I found this on eye color and it seemed to support one of the other posts. It is not from Forgotten Realms though so I am not sure it is really applies. Anyway, I hope it helps ;)

"The normal eye color for Drow is red, to have yellow would denote some illness or poison; blue, violet, or green eyes would denote some sort of anomaly or heritage that is not of pure Drow. In darkness, Drow see with the use of Infravision (Vision in Infrared), this heightened sensitivity, while necessary in the light-void Underdark, offers one of the Drow's biggest weaknesses; sunlight, or any flash of significant magnitude, will cause great pain and temporarily blindness to the eyes of any deep dwelling Drow. For this reason, many Drow train in the techniques of blind-fighting, and very few Drow choose to leave the Underdark."

This is the site it is from http://www.hollowgame.com/wiki/Drow

I don't recall the exact source of the reference but I read that violet eyes was an indicator of the elven race and was normally disdained.
I drew a parallel between Drizzt and his violet eyes at the time and thought to myself that it explained a few things. But his family would have been just as predisposed to the genetic anomaly so...? (I can see it making more sense if his father Zaknafein had violet colored eyes)

Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there.

This isn't DnD or Forgotten Realms...so you really can't use that.

From Underdark, third edition Faerûn setting rulebook:
Physical Description: The skin of a drow can be any shade from dark gray to polished obsidian. His hair can be pale yellow, silver, or white, and his eyes can be almost any color, including blood red.
This implies that there is no norm or abnormality with regards to eye color.

From Races of Faerûn:
Also called dark elves, the drow have black skin that resembles polished obsidian and stark white or pale yellow hair. They commonly have blood-red eyes, although pale eyes (so pale as often mistaken for white) in shades of pale lilac, silver, pink, and blue are not unknown.
This implies blood-red eyes is the norm but the rest is common enough to not raise any eyebrows. Yet it still does not hint at any significance sadly.

This is all I could find on a _very_ quick read-through. I got the books on Drizzt but haven't read them in a very long while. Currently having exams so I can't go on a lore-binge right now sadly :(

Hello folks.

I still cannot find the reference document. I will continue searching for it. I maybe very wrong about it (for which, if it is true, I am sorry), but I think I had something that proved it.

Oh, and avoid google and wikia. Drow are not limited to FR settings and they vary greatly.

hi , i was wondering about the school of mages and the houses like the necromancers and what not , theres some post about it already but they date way back and im wondering whats what a bit .

i know Kar had to ask a DM to join the Saarmath's school of mages , that was done , at the same time i was told being a sorceress she could hardly expect to raise to any kind of prestigious ranks or the likes.

since then i played her as a young student , the kind that skips a lot of classes , an eternal colleger , passing easily the practical classes but failing miserably when it comes to study and and acedemics.
