Yep, my ranger just froze before attacking a shambling mound...
Conspiracy theory: Treehuggers International Coalition is behind this attack.

Really?
Thought it was the Orc Preservationist Incorporated slapping down a lawsuit as my pirate were cruising down the halls of Castle Dragonspear.

I see it still offline as of 11:30 am PST.
Yeah, it's really a shame this is happening, and that is can happen with the current hosting arrangement. Luck be with the admins who are dealing with it. I'll toss a prayer to iTalona, patron goddess of packet storms while I'm at it.
Suppose a good a time as any to peruse the forums.

If I recal...
Run Command Prompt
type Netstat ?
(that gives all command list)
Netstat -a
that display all connection and listening ports
Netstat -f
Displays fully qualified domain names (FQND) for foreign addresses
Netstat -n
display addresses and port numbers in numerical form
and so on...
Netstat ? for more questions
I hope this can help you find our attacker

Yeah, we can theorize all we want, but we just need to leave it up to the admins who know what they're doing and working with their provider. I'm just as bummed out as the rest of you.

(2) The vast majority of those who have interacted with This Person have treated him or her perfectly nicely.
(3) For those who have caused this person upset, this is undoubtedly annoying. In that sense, good job, This Person.
(4) The brunt of the annoyance is born by people who have done nothing to This Person.
To This Person, perhaps it's time to take a step back, and stop. Determine whether you sleep better at night for doing this. Consider whether there are other things to which you can dedicate your time that will make your life better instead of gratifying a desire for revenge, that a year from now you'll look back on with pride rather than regret.
I sincerely wish happiness for This Person. I've been angry before, and done things that I've regretted. As a result, at this moment, I am not angry, I'm sad: I would like everyone to be happy, and that's the one thing that isn't happening here. Indeed, whatever else this server attack is, it is distinctly uninteresting, unentertaining and unfulfilling for all involved, including This Person.
To the extent that This Person is unhappy, my considered advice is this. Either play this game with us and have fun, or move on, and go do something else that puts a smile on your face for the right reasons. It's a big world, full of interesting things.
Optimistically yours and with best wishes,
Step
Appreciate your thoughts, Step, if no one else said so. That response is one worth modeling inner peace on.

Isn't it possible to remove the server IP unless you're actually logged into the forums and temporarily disable new forum accounts as well as remove it from the nwnlist until this passes over?

If the prompt says the server found but it is not responding(timed out), is that something I'm doing incorrectly or the server is down?

That's not on your end Grism, that's a server side error. (It's basically down). I get it just before/during crashes.

We're still having bouts of the server not being able to respond to your requests due to apparent network saturation. I'm sure admins are aware and doing what they can. Sometimes it will be up for an hour or two here and there, lately.
Not sure how the laws are in Canada regarding this, looks like that's where the server is hosted. If it were a US hosted server, there could be charges brought against the responsible party.
Good luck admins!

No, we have pretty strict laws against misuse and copyright infringement here. We'll repeatedly ask you politely to stop by email, then apologize for using up your valuable time by repeatedly emailing you. lol...actually kind of true...
oh, we may also email you a second apology, just in case we were in error, and wouldn't want to wrongly accuse you of wrongdoing...
If the server is somewhere in southwest ontario let me know, I'll go pay a visit.
PS.. if you know the server and Internet Provider, you can actually call them and log a complaint. They may investigate and temporarily shut down service to that person. Or call their mom.

In all likelihood, the responsible party is not doing the DDoS attack themselves. They have likely purchased a DDoS service. See Maecius's post above
Chances are no one will ever know or find out who is behind this unless they tell someone or slip up.
