Faberge sets aside the sack, half jogging from his seat over to Jonas's side, both hands raised in the air by his shoulders.
"Quite a bit happened mate."
He leans forward, taking a good look at Doriah before standing straight again, turning to Jonas.
"Seems like your girl, is quite the target. Shall I begin right from the beginning, or start when things really fell down hill?"
His nose twitches a few times, nervously stroking and tugging his hair while he waits for his words.

The paladin's intense glare is focused on Faberge before the man gets too close to Jonas.
"Of course she is a target. Certain people have nothing better to do with their lives than attempt to ruin those of others'. The beginning, if you please."

His faces shows a flicker of horror at the glare he receives, leaning as far away from Jonas as he can. Eyes wide, lip and fingers twitching, Faberge nods, taking a breath before explaining what happened.
"Well mate, your daughter and I, under no other altering circumstances, ran into each other along the main street of the Gate, just past the weapon and arms shop. She overheard me pondering who posted that note regarding my habits of orcish scent and kobold mating at the Friendly Arm Inn. Doriah then requested my faithful, extravagant aid in an adventure to wherever she decided. I do say mate, your daughter takes fantastic humour in paying one to capture chickens. Moving on! Doriah and I then traveled to a den of Orcs amongst the thick entanglement of trees east of the Friendly Arm Inn, where she decided she needed a few things here and there before we left, journeying to Candlekeep. Once at Candlekeep, we both spoke to a very kind maleish tailor, or whatever, who further went on to explain his need for quite a large supply of skinned troll hides. We took up his request, heading for the described cave where we would find such a thing. We then ran into the three hooded, cloaked individuals right by the cave entrance, pretending to be your men. Your daughter then fled into the cave, pursued by the three individuals, where I followed invisible and concealed. I lost the lot at some point throughout the cave, but I soon found them. The three had Doriah trapped in a far corner of the cave, tied up, bruised, cut, wounded and bleeding. I listened for a brief moment before following the lot out of the cave, where I then revealed myself, ordering the group to stop. I told the three that I couldn't let them take Doriah any further then what they had, and that I did not believe Jonas would order any of his men to commit such a crime to his daughter! Soon after that, I was hit by a blast of acidic eldritch magic, along with an arrow, which really sparked my dreadful unforgiving fury. I chased all three throughout the hills, further leaving their bodies quite dead by the road leading to the keep. I then rushed back to our damsel in distress, un-tying her, healing her wounds as best as I could before making all speed towards the Gate.”
Faberge takes quite a large breath after spitting that out as quickly as possible. He sways a little as he stands, hands still stroking and tugging at his hair.

Ali watches and listens to the tale, the crease in her brow deepening as the story unfolds. Her pale cheeks flush with a seething anger held in check, just beneath the surface. Her voice is dangerously calm when she speaks. "If you had reason to believe our daughter was in danger, why did you not take care of the threat immediately?"

He pauses for a moment, still stroking and tugging on his hair, considering his reply.
"I had no idea how many there were, apart from the three that I could see. I was also waiting to see if they would let slip any words that might... be helpful, which they didn't. Besides, carrying your daughter through a cave would've been quite awkward, slippery and... dangerous."
Offers a guilty smile, clapping his hands together.
"Look the main point is I got your daughter and I back in one piece, right?"

Jonas' head tilts to one side as his brow furrows. He gazes with no less intensity at the man.
"Hrmm. So in your sincere concern for my daughter, you ran with her all the way back to the Gate as she bled all over the place? Seems going to Candlekeep would have been the logical choice, as it is, you see, right there. They would have gladly seen to Doriah and protected her at the temple of Oghma, and sent word to the city for us."
The knight squints at Faberge.
"Do I. . .know you from somewhere?"

Stands for a moment, slightly irritated before offering yet another smile written with guilt.
"Well see mate, thats what I did, I rushed her to Candlekeep, being the most logical location out of all the others on the coast, yet by the time we arrived at the gates, she felt well enough to walk, further ordering we, ah I... to take her here."
Takes another breath as he chews on a his fingernails, before again, tugging on his hair and the various beads and symbols strung to it.
"Do you know me? Of course you know me mate, I am Faberge."
Smiles with an obvious pride, spreading his arms out as a performer would at the conclusion of a performance.

Renec hears rumour of the attack on his niece. He takes to training that much harder. He also vows that if he should find the attacker, he will be certain to bring them to justice, swiftly.

If possible, Jonas' glare becomes even more deadly. He reaches behind his back and draws his greatsword from the scabbard affixed to the baldric keeping it in place. The ring of cold iron fills the air. Sister Adolina looks positively mortified at the knight drawing his blade in the Sanctuary.
"Ah, the criminal who carelessly tossed spells about merely yards from the orphanage. Thank you for 'rescuing' my daughter. Now get out. This place may be devoted to Mercy, but I am not."

His proud smile quickly vanishes at the drawn blade, taking a step or two away from the man.
"Rather big blade you got there mate. You keep it sharp?"
Arms half raised, he tip toes toward the door before spinning around to face Jonas.
"You lot have an unforgivably fantastic memory. Strange enough as it seems however, you never asked for the identity of her attackers. Considering our current situation, swords drawn an' all, I think I'll keep that to myself."
He winks, opening the door and stepping outside, leaving it half closed as he pokes his head through the gap.
"Oh and would you tell that charming man Thedran he owes me a leg."
Slams the door.
Just short of a few seconds later, he re-enters the orphanage, rushing over to the bench he sat at, snatching up the large sack he left behind.
"Sorry."
Quickly departs the room, slamming the door behind him yet again.

[Meri, having shown up at the temple upon hearing of trouble... Meri blinks and grumbles about adventurers slamming doors and waking patients and other worries... sets off to get things back in order... and then asking the guards to see that the man in question is watched most closely at the temple... and disallowed from the orphanage.]
"Peace, dear brother... put your sword away, please? This is not the place."
[Gives her brother a patient, calming and understanding look.]

Nodding to Meri, and looking a little sheepish, the paladin sheathes his sword back behind his back.
"He could have just told me the identities when he was telling the tale. I saw that grin when I walked in. . .he likely would have just lied anyway."

"And with this, as in all other things... It will sort. My niece is well, though it is a hard lesson learned."
[glances to the others and sighs.]
"Truth, Mercy and even Swift Justice always find a way in the end. Though I think it best that we be on our guard in the meantime. These shadows too, will pass."
[She regards them all with innate patience, murmuring prayers as she sets about with what needs doing.]

The Rokranon manor has been bought from them by the Sigers for several weeks now. The Rokranons currently reside in the Mercy Orphanage.

A few hours after Farberge left the orphanage. There is a rumor that he was arrested at the campsite just outside the Friendly Armed Inn. For the crime of once publicly conspiring to commit murder on a member of the Flaming Fist.
Whereabouts he was last seen clamped in irons being marched back to Baldur's Gate to await judgment. No one escapes the Flaming Fist's long memory or it's unyielding wrath, forever.
