Do not get too attached to your (or other's) character (-s).
Separate real world from virtual one. When the time comes, let. it. go.

If I wouldn't get attached, personally, I wouldn't play since it'd be too boring.

Anywho. . I asked around a bit and came up with the idea to make a list of players/pc's willing to answer mundane questions to new players . .
Here's the list so far:
LeslieMS
Gareut
CommanderKrieg
Zoe (pc name)
Bluehero
Beteas
I'm quite sure more will happily add themself to the list, thinking if the list got sticked somewhere bvious on the forum, new players will find important topics like this one more easy.

First time I've seen that evil girl, she killed me.
Don't.
Trust.
Her.
It's for your savety, she will drive you crazy, pierce you with her daggers and drink the blood from you. You'll be a human gourd for her.

Re: How to Create a Great Character: A RP Guide
This is some brilliant stuff. I completely agree with this and think that more should read this before building their characters. I see to many characters online that are simply way to powerful. I understand the 'Want' for having a powerful character, but it just begins to get a little ridiculous with the power some people have.
My first character I played, Elohir Ara'dhel, was a pure ranger build of Mielikki. He was very good at using the bow, but his AC sucked (around a 29 or 30) and he wasn't very good at wielding blades. Put him in the back of a party though, and he could do some serious damage with his arrows. His favored enemy were also RP'd, not just the typical lot (elves, men, orcs or half-orcs, plane touched, dwarves, yada yada)...so that he would be powerful as a pvp'r. I chose his favored enemy as a he developed based on his past and what I thought made sense for a ranger in the Baldur's Gate area. He died many times in pvp simply due to the fact that I personally wasn't very good at it and started to figure it out as time went on. I played him for 2 years and it took me all of a year and a half to get him to 30th level.
Anyway, ive written my thoughts on this and think that all of those individuals out there that powerbuild their characters focusing on things like HIPS, Saves, and attacks are losing the meaning behind a server that promotes RP. You know who you are if you have 40+ saves due to numerous classes or HIPS that is +80. Those of you who have no weaknesses fall into this category as well.

Hey! thats an insult! Rai has over 80 hide but she is far from strong. Anyone can beat her if they use their brains and some rp.
I do however agree, I like seeing characters that have weaknesses, gives them more dept and makes them more real

Re: How to Create a Great Character: A RP Guide
I echo what ghostly_rose says! Many of the most interesting, enduring, complex, deep, enjoyable, developed, well-thought out characters I know have stealth skills close to or (a very small few) beyond that.
While I generally agree with the spirit of Elohir's post, high stealth is really not conducive to a powerbuild, especially seeing as most who achieve it do so by focusing on it at the expense of everything else thereby becoming quite weak in every regard, save one. In my time on the server there have been only a few exceptions to this, enabled by (according to some, take it with a grain of salt) cheating, but those characters are no longer with us.

Re: How to Create a Great Character: A RP Guide
My bad...I take back the part about the hide skill thing...Elohir had a decent Hide skill, around 78 or so, when fully buffed and all items equipped.
However, I just don't agree with the one's who simply powerbuild to make an extremely powerful character, then RP it as something different...I can understand you want a powerful character (who doesn't)...but if you have a powerbuild, don't claim you are a pure class build (whatever it is) when you have 3 or 4 classes making you a definite powerbuild. Not directed at any one character, just something I've seen in the past. I think if you create a powerbuild, just RP it so it makes sense instead of hiding it. Just my thoughts.
