I agree. It takes no effort (like 20s via the web client) to join, and to have a "live support" is always nice

I was kind of surprised at how few people were in IRC.
I'll idle!

I tried it but people were just there without talking so I got bored of trying to talk to myself.

IRC is usually sprinklings of chatter throughout the day, rather than a constant stream of words.

Well, then explain it please and how it should be used?

Ugh.. I think I accidentally broke the channel yesterday for webchat users. It requires authentication now.. And since I'm already authenticated on my home client, I can't authenticate at work and change it.. So it'll be fixed approximately in 9 hours (if Valefort can't auth from work and fix it from there)
About using irc.. The popular way is to join a bunch of channels and leave it open, then at times when conversation starts to flow -> you join in

Workaround:
When you open the chat, choose your nickname, try to enter the channel and then on the chatline type the following:
/msg Q hello (email) (email) where (email) is your email-address. This is the authentication process and gives you access to the bots on Quakenet. It also eases up the process of voicing you on #bgtscc if needed. After you've done this, just log in using the directions you receive on email.

I am having problem connecting to the web client from my laptop at work. I was able to connect for some days now but since yesterday It says tha my ip is blacklisted but i dont know why. My connection at work is problematic ( slow speeds at times, resets etc ). From home i connect no problem. Is there a way to fix that?
[15:51] == +++ Your IP address (94.64.44.100) is BLOCKED by our DNS blacklist!
[15:51] == +++ To limit abuse, you cannot use this webchat client through your browser. You can connect to QuakeNet using a normal IRC client in the mean time, however we strongly advise you check your PC or network for problems.
[15:51] == +++ This is a problem with your IP address and/or computer, this is not a problem with QuakeNet, please fix it without contacting QuakeNet.
[15:51] == +++ Alternatively, if you log in you can bypass this block (use the "log in to Q" button).

You can try to restart your router if you can, maybe you'll change DNS.

Alternatively, if you log in you can bypass this block (use the "log in to Q" button).
Note this line from the above error log.
If you register a Q account you can bypass that IP ban by logging in. Easy peasy.
