A massive white dragon descended upon Nashkel. Villagers ran for cover, but rumor from a few who hid close to the tavern atop which the beast landed claimed it accused the villagers of stealing from it.

The beast returned the following day. It is unknown what sparked it, but the second visit resulted in the creature bursting into a frenzy. It fought with guards and adventurers in the streets. Once wounded, it took to flight and bombarded the town well into the night from the air.

The creature left the town a few hours before dawn. Fortunately, most of the damage to the town was superficial. The citizenry however endured a night of horror as they huddled in their basements throughout the assault. When the sun rose, the guard ventured out to assess the damages. Dozens of injured were brought to the temple of helm for healing, and close to a dozen funerals of the innocents lost that night were carried out in the following days.

////for those of you who participated, I apologize for the ending. Lost internet. I was walking in place for pretty much all of the final battle, and anything I did - even text - had about a 10-15 minute delay. Catch me in game sometime for rewards.

Many livestock owners around Beregost have been reporting their stock missing. Some cases report massive damage as barns and fences are ripped asunder, others exclaim that its as if their livestock simply vanished, or were plucked into the air.

((edit)). Later adventurers report finding and slaying a manticore terrorizing the area.

A confrontation in Beregost today drew many onlookers, as well as a contingent of Amnian guardsmen. Privateer captain, Kalma Hellstorm, and several elves exchanged heated words on the street and weapons were drawn.

Thankfully, the quick response of the guards prevented the shedding of blood. The group was broken up and everyone was sent on their separate ways.

Doomsayers have been spotted in Nashkel preaching the coming of some Dread God. Many appear to be old homeless men, presumed mad. They preach endlessly in the cold unhindered by the harsh winter conditions, some freezing to death for their efforts.

--------

Some miners had gone missing in a mine near Nashkel. No one speaks of a cave in, rather something else from the deep. Rumors spread among the miners that they are refusing to work without pay increases for "hazard."

There was a disturbance in a tavern in southern Nashkel last night. While the guard closed off the scene, rumors persist that an off duty guard was killed in a brawl in the tavern.
The town guard of Nashkel is searching for individuals matching the description of Thedran Rock, Valiant Blinncraft, and Alsarias Lythar (as they were dressed that night). Seeking to arrest them on the charges of Murder of a town guard, resisting arrest, and assault of a town guard.

AMN: TROOP WITHDRAWAL
As the winter paths through the Cloudpeak Mountains thaw with the coming spring, new orders arrive to the barrack's in the northern Amnish towns and occupied territories. Soldiers are being called home to Athkatla.

In the bustling capital, leaders move pieces on maps. They wring their hands over discussions on the Amnish southern border, where an utter power vacuum and refugee crises has developed due to the chaos and civil warfare raging beyond their southern border in Tethyr.

Several pieces are moved from the north to the capital, and from the capital to the southern border.

An increase in muggings and petty crime has become apparent in Beregost.

--------------------

An exotic dancer was found dead with a shiv in her side in an inn room in Beregost. The inn room had seemed to have been converted into some sort of gambling den. Several patrons were found within the room beaten unconscious.

One of the patrons - being picked up the following morning by an angry wife - spun a tale of a well armored warrior arguing with a stunningly beautiful comely woman in blue. Shortly after, the warrior, with an armored and a robed companion proceeded to pummel the inn's patrons. When they awoke. There was no sign of the warrior and his two companions, or the lovely comely woman in blue.

Patrons downstairs at the time attest to seeing no one by any of the descriptions given come downstairs.

The Last Storm
An uncharacteristic shrill wind and rain descends upon the lands north of the Cloudpeaks. The rain falls like ice shards, and the wind cuts to the bone. All are reminded of the icy bite of winter as it takes its final throes.

A white dragon is seen flying over the cloudpeaks.

Strange goings on continue in and around the town of Nashkel. Citizens are less cordial and receptive to visitors. Doors and shutters are shut and streets increasingly left empty at the approach of visitors and adventurers, who are often left with only a shrill breeze to greet them.

Whispers spread of strange and unbelievable sightings. Others speak of dark rituals conducted in the late hours within secluded basements and abandoned houses. All point to the mysterious soothsayers who have begun to appear over the last several months, though none dare to speak openly or act against them.

-------

Many come to the Helmite temple voicing concerns and seeking answers. The priests do what they can to stem panic and assuage concerns.

---------

There has been an increase in funerals of late in Nashkel. Women, mothers, wives, girlfriends, mourning the losses of the men in their lives. The causes of death vary from Tavern brawls to deaths by local dangers including giants and wyverns. All question what would have prompted their loved ones to leave the city and venture into such well known dangerous places.

-------

Rumors of late speak to Helmite guards visiting houses in the dead of night. They forcefully pull residents from their homes and take them to the local temple. Some return, others are left unaccounted for.

Adventurers tell harrowing tales of terrible creatures assaulting travelers along the road from Beregost to Nashkel. They tell tales of wretched demonic humanoids and great lumbering hulks who leap great distances and vanish with their victims. They speak of great predatory cats the size of horses bathed in flame and attacking with unparalleled speed and savagery. They say that if felled, the creatures are consumed in flame and their ashes scattered by fell winds. They speak of dark demonic rituals in the canyons, sacrifices and blood magic.

The guards and clergy of Nashkel are quick to dispel such rumors as nonsense to the populous. The guard, fewer in number due to the redeployment of troops by Athkalta, do not send scouts. However, despite their denials of these fanciful tales, shifts are doubled along the northern border of the city, and guardsmen peer warily into the darkness at night, chilled by a fell wind.

Rumors are overheard among locals in Nashkel taverns that a Helmite priest and one of his guards were murdered. As you attempt to inquire further ... Suddenly you notice the patrons glaring at you like some unwelcome interloper. Seems many receive a frosty reception in the inns and taverns of Nashkel of late.

Strange rumors start around Nashkel. People report large winged humanoids engulfed in flames flying down the mountain towards Nashkel mines. Several adventurers find themselves gathering at the Belching Dragon Inn and decide to investigate the mine.

Several hours later, small tremors are felt around nashkel. Small puddles of water and ponds grow hot and bubble emitting a sulfuric odor. Random patches of earth around the town crack and release steam and the odor of brimstone. After a few more hours, the oddities subside... for the moment.

Locals are reluctant, dismissive, or outright hostile to attempts to discuss the matter, apparently wishing to ignore it and go on with their lives.

A wedding is held in an estate a short distance from Nashkel. There is some grumbling around the city - namely from the guard - that entertainment was provided by a well known entertainment troupe operating out of the White Mask Theater in Baldur's Gate.

Any powerful casters of divine or arcane origin who happen to cast True Sight in and around Nashkel find themselves blacking-out for the duration of the spell (potentially up to 1 hour for the most powerful of casters).

Any adventurers in their presence report them leaving the group in a contentious or disagreeable manner.

These casters find themselves 'coming-to' in precarious situations. Depending on the duration of the spell, some find themselves in alleys having senseless debates with the local fool, drunk, or medicant. Others find themselves detained by the guard for some minor disturbances, or sequestered within the temple of Helm with priests praying over them accompanied by armed Helmite guards. Some find themselves digging through an alley eating trash or bugs. Some find themselves being ushered out of the Town by a small agitated and hostile mob of locals. In the most extreme cases, these casters find themselves waking in the wilderness near Nashkel - naked or near-so - sometimes covered in the blood of a nearby slain animal.

The casters to whom this occurs have no recollection as to what happened during their black-outs, and find no locals willing to elucidate any events which may have transpired. Given the nature of these episodes, and the status of most adventurers powerful enough to cast such a spell, those succumbing to them would likely endeavor to keep the happenings quiet.

-----------------------

((those who were in the aftermath of the post-wedding event which happened last night would find themselves coming to in similar circumstances as described above. However, they would retain a vivid memory of what transpired. NPC's from the estate would not report any oddities happening in excess of drunken schenanigans)).

((thank you DM's Narsh and foresight for running this event with me, and mouse and Vukodlak for additional support.))

(((also, use your better judgement in how to RP the above)))

Petty crime continues to run rampant in Beregost. The town's youth are often seen playing dice for coppers around street corners. Muggings in the alleyways are common-place. Merchants and purveyors of local establishments are tight-lipped about local criminal element. No complaints are heard as taverns become seedier and seedier along with their clientele.

The Amnish Governess decries she is doing what she can with limited resources and nearly non-existent trade. The Lathanderites do what they can to provide sanctuary and charity to the needy. Dark times have befallen the town of Beregost once again.
