The notice posted catches Rayvhen's eye. She slings her bow and takes a moment to read the posting.
"I hope they are more hospitable towards half elves than other elves I have encountered on my travels. But I cannot pass up this opportunity for the contest."
Heads off to make plans to travel to the event

Elves and others could be seen begining to gather near the halfling village of Gullykin. They arrived the night before the Summer Solitice Archery Competition. There they are greeted by Laisren Ua Tiernan whom bids them all welcome.
Some camp the night outdoors with the elves of Dharasha, some do their best to find lodging within the Hin village, while others still move down the road to Beregost seeking more pleasurable accomodations. The Hins tavern could be seen still lit till the early morning, thus denoting at least a few dwarves made the trek.
The day begins now, all begin to prepare......
// The event will begin between 8-9pm EST, the volunteers, and winners of the events will be paid immediately their shares. All item distribution will be done tomorrow and in the coming days.
Side note: Added tothe treasury, one +4 Deflection Ring, and one +4 Deflection Cloak

A remarkably short and quite stout dwarf with a great red beard that reaches almost to the ground stands before the bulletin board, puzzling at the elven characters.
"Oi! Oi canna meke nae sense 'o 'is wroitin! Bah!"
As he turns to leave, a small cat runs at his ankles and bats at his boots.
"Oi! Now whaddaye be doin' 'ere, ye kitty? Eh?" Reaching down, the dwarf strokes the cat, which begins to roll on its back and bat at the dwarf's enormous beard.
"Ah... I see Gendel has found yet another friend." A slim dark-skinned elf approches the Dwarf. "Good day, master dwarf. I see that Gendel has bewitched you with his charms."
"Eh, ye say? Bewitched? Nay... Oi'm jus' rubbin' 'is belly, ye see?" The dwarf gave the little cat an extra rub and looked at the elf as to demonstrate. "E's all roight, 'is one is! Aye, ye are, aint ye?"
With a bemused smile the elf turns to the bulletin board. "Ah... I see there is to be an archery contest. Hmmm...." He reaches to his pack and pulls out a rather plain looking bow. He shakes his head in mild dismay. " No... I do not believe it would be worthwhile to enter. I am no archer."
"Eh? Ye say? An arch'ry contest? Ye mean t' be tellin' me that ye elves are t' be shootin yer bows an gittin gold an' lasses fer 't?"
"There is a contest, the note says so, but as to the prizes, I am sure I do not know what they may be. There may be.... "lasses" there."
"Oi!" The dwarf reaches into his pack and brings forth a small bow that glows with a feint blue nimbus. "Oi've got jus' th' thin' fer that!" The dwarf raised the bow and shook it for good measure. "Oi'll be gettin' me th' gold fer ale an' winnin' me some company as well!" Turning to the elf, he slaps him roughly on the back, nearly knocking the elf to his knees. "Me thanks, ye... ah what's yer name?"
"Varlok. Varlok Banlin. And this is Gendal." The elf motions to the cat who is still leaping and pawing at the dwarf's now tangled beard.
"Oi! Greetin's! Oi'm Durgan."
After a few minutes of pleasantries, the Dwarf ambled off. As he watched Durgan disappear into the crowds of Baldur's Gate, he turned to Gendel. "A Dwarf at an archery contest? This may bear watching, eh gendal?"
The small cat meowed in return and the two walked away in the direction of Maltz's Weapon Shop.

//update: Hell hath froze over!!
1.) Internet went down 5pm
2.) Customer service for one hour
3.) They determine it must be my modem
4.) Wife has company car for the day, so I bike 15 miles across town to 3 different places and finally find one with a modem for way to expensive.
5.) Buy it, bike back and set up the new modem, call customer service back..... Now they say it's an area wide issue!
OMG!!!!!
Anyways, please everyone who can go through with the tourney. If a DM doesn't place archery targets, go to Nashkel. Have fun with it, play around and RP together, that was the point of this. Whomever keeps the scores and runs the stopwatch on their smart phones during the obstacle course, just pm me the results.
I'm so sorry ladies and gentlemen

I'm going now for a much needed drink, have fun tonight!!!!

//I see from your other post it all worked out well in the end and I'm glad. Sucks going through the above crap. Those who work in the customer support tend to know very little about how those things work.
I didn't attend as.. Well, I got knocked out drinking wine with my meds. Couldn't keep my eyes open ^^;
Edit:Thought I sent this as a PM

The contest was coming to an end, the Lady Saline Ledwent commanding such grace and dignity throughout, offered her future husband Laisren as target practice for the two greatest archers of the land. It was now down to the Nobleman Jaufre of Evermeet and the returning elven archer Elulith representing Doron. They cast their own arcane magics, befitting proper elven archers, and lined up each to their target.
Laisren cast his own ward, making him appear as ten men at once, but inspite of this trickery the archers aim was simply too sublime to be thwarted by such parlor tricks. Each archer found his mark but in the end, it was Jaufre's arrow which split down the center of the shield Laisren held. The Grand Champion had been found and all paid their homage to witnessing greatness. Still, there was nothing for Elulith to be ashamed, for he was too known to be a great champion of the bow.
Saline called forth the names of the winners of each class, presenting each with kind word and offer of friendship. All those gathered began an uproarious cheer, that they could only hope those whom stood as their adversaries might hear. Then Laisren said a few somber words to denote the times and why they came together on this night. As all those gathered began to look around, pondering the kinship they shared this night, the Favored Daughter Ariona Lo'Ran cried out, "FOR CORELLON!", which started all to shout in defiance of the Black Orc menace, "FOR CORELLON".
Saline and Laisren offered all those to join them within the halfling tavern for drinks just as the sun began to rise. The halflings all to readily accepted them in for drink and breakfast. They sat around enjoying each others company and sharing stories till it was time to part. Saline and Laisren sat together the last ones left in the halfling tavern. They looked to each other and dared to hope.........
//Thank you so much for all those whom attended, it was purely by the good grace of Nezzerscape (Saline), Mendel (mrm3mentalist), and Dm Darkshard that this was able to come to fuition but I must say having arrived late, everyone their was truly amazing. Bravo to you all
