Extended Divine Favor is a must going into a tough fight and it only uses up a 2nd level slot

Re: The one spellbook you always want to see!
I don't wish to derail the original purpose of this thread, to give information on the Healing Domain, but pertaining to its use a battlefield healer must be in the battle to be close enough to heal their charges.
You can stack your auto empower with Quicken to lay down multiple Cures and Heals in a single round. It is expensive, but it will out-heal kits. Most Clerics without the domain can't Quicken Heals like you can. Combined with impressive Mass Cures and the epic mass heal spell, you can keep an entire party standing even during chaos and mayhem.

Well usually when people get excited that some feat works, it's because they were interested in the mechanical aspect of it.Salival wrote:
Wow, that was helpful.... so just cause they are better for said reasons I should waste gold and not think about the rp value of healing spells. Got it.....
Let me ask again: can anyone confirm that the feat works now.
You don't exactly need Augment healing in order to RP anything with healing spells and I don't see the RP logic in stuffing your spellbook full of healing spells, rather i'd think a well rounded cleric would logically be prepared for more then one thing aka. not just spamming heal spells...
You don't have to spend your gold on healkits, I just said that Heal spells or Regenerate for that matter are far better at higher levels. Also that if you want to support and make a group happy, rather buff them and their gear with your low level slots and drop a heavy Heal or Regenerate when things get spicy.

Wait.. Augment healing doesn't work on Mass healing?!DM Mouse wrote:They always have worked here. But they don't work on Mass versions of the spells which, if they did, would make them very valuable (and better than Heal Kits in a group setting).

That's what I was saying, the highest level spell Augment Healing will boost is Cure Critical WoundsAkroma666 wrote:Wait.. Maximize or Quicken them, then it becomes impressive.

How is that?DM Mouse wrote:Maximize or Quicken them, then it becomes impressive.
Maxed Cure Crit in lvl7 will heal for 134hp. A Greater Restoration heals for 150hp* and is also a lvl7 spell.
Quicken is 2 x 86hp for two lvl8 slots you could have spent on two Stilled greater Restorations or two Ext. Regenerate spells.
I'm all for fixing Augment Healing so it affects more spells, at the very least it should affect the Mass Cure Spells, which would make it viable and very nice.
// Corrected Greater Resto value, remembered wrong. Doesn't change much though. Perhaps Quicken is slightly viable, but I wouldn't spend two lvl8 slots on 172 healing, when there are alot better options or you could just spam healkits if you want fast reliable healing.

Re: The one spellbook you always want to see!
The domain its self offers more Heal spells and slots. You could Quicken and regular Heal for 300 in a single round. Hard to reach that with just kits.
But I believe the Auto-Empower will stack with Maximize as well, producing more powerful Cure spells which you can then tack on Augmented Healing to.
If you were a Cleric/Bard/Scholar you could conceivably memorize every spell slot levels 5 through 9 as Heal spells and every spell slot from 0-4, on both Cleric and Bard classes, as Empowered Cure spells. I highly doubt your kits will ultimately match up to a determined, well planned out healer... I mean unless you really have the Strength and desire to carry 80 kits with you everywhere.
Even then you're bound to run out before the caster does.

Re: The one spellbook you always want to see!
I don't see that justifying building around this tactic. A build like that wouldn't have any high level slots at all, effectively crippling you in epic levels, making you a healbot that doesn't even excel at what it does, but just has loads of weak heals which won't help much in a epic level fight against strong opponents who easily out damage your healing, round for round.DM Mouse wrote:The domain its self offers more Heal spells and slots. I never said that the Heal domain was a bad pick, just that there's no point to the Auto-Empower and synergy with Augment Healing. Getting Heal in lvl5 rather then in lvl6 is great, hands down. But that's the only advantage to the domain.
Auto-empower does stack with Maximize, but as I just wrote in my previous post, there's no actual advantage to this, because you could just cast a Greater Restoration or Heal spell for 16 more HP healed.
And I just said earlier, that casting Heal, Greater Restore, Regenerate or any other high level spell is better then Cure Crit wounds as Max/Quicken - I never said to use Healkits instead of spells, you obviously combine the two methods of healing
Healkits are limited and cost resources, but they do have a very high healing output, nearly as much as casting spells actually -
33 Skill + 8 Wisdom + 10 Epic Skill focus + 10 Avg. roll = 2 x 61hp in one round. This is very close to casting a Heal spell.
Let's consider the carry capacity - 20 Healkits is about 1200-1300 points of Healing. You would need about 8 Heal spells in order to match this. (And this is without gear that gives Heal skill bonus.)
Oh, and the Cleric may not be able to carry around hundreds of Healkits on his own, but if he's in a dedicated group with one or more high strength fighters, it's a no brainer how to keep a larger supply of healkits close at hand =)

Re: The one spellbook you always want to see!
I need to step in here and say your wrong. I find that even now at level 14 I can effectively heal the whole group of level 20s because of the combo synergy. I actually use more cure critical/serious than heal. Heal is just an emergency spell while the augmented lower ones are used to keep people full in and between fights. I don't even have regeneration and considering how bad it was nurfed, I doubt its going to be as amazing as you make it out considering a rejuv cocoon is beyond better now.I never said that the Heal domain was a bad pick, just that there's no point to the Auto-Empower and synergy with Augment Healing. Re: The one spellbook you always want to see!
Sure, you can have alot of Cure's in your spellbook, but how much healing are you getting out of the Augment Healing feat? Do the math and you will realize that it's not much.Akroma666 wrote:I need to step in here and say your wrong.
Also, my main point is that Augment Healing won't scale well into epic levels, since Cure spells become more and more obsolete the higher level you are.
At lvl25+ there should be more need for group buffs and replacement buffs if anyone is dispelled or if buffs run out due to being in an event where you can't just rest. etc.
In these level ranges and in challenging fights, the Heal spell, Greater Restoration and Mass Heal aren't for emergencies, their necessity. A stream of weak Cure spells won't outheal the damage done against the Balor or Dracolich for instance.
How does that relate to Clerics, Augment Healing and Heal domain?Akroma666 wrote:rejuv cocoon is beyond better now.
Regenreate combined with Vigorous Cycle is 13hp regen per round. If both are Ext. they last for 8 Minutes at lvl30. It equals out to 1040hp total. Hardly bad.
