The words of the Elders resounded in Kaienrai's mind as he left the Caercilcaern.

It was an interesting meeting to say the least. They had sought audience with the Elders for some time, and finally, their plea was heard. He had entered the meeting towards the latter of it and silently chided himself for being late. Once he entered, he stood a bit in the back as to not be disrespectful, until ushered forward by the Selu'Onal. There, he stood quietly next to the Grove Master, always careful to not step on him, and listened to the debate and the exchange of words.

Many thoughts flowed through his mind, during the meeting. The looks of the Dharashans and the diplomacy of all around inspired him. All working together for the betterment of the People of the village. The answer of the Elders, though a bit surprising, was not without merit, and the spirit of the Dharashans within the room did not diminish. The Elders had more combined wisdom than all Dharashans that were gathered together, so who were they to question it?

The ideas of Master Deacon sat rather...interestingly with the Dharashans and Kaienrai could not help but grin while they conversed on the orders of the Elders. Some looked less than motivated to carry out this order but they set their hearts to it and would do what was necessary to work toward this goal. That is what he loved most of his brothers and sisters and that eased him as he made his way along the tree tops.

"Why wait until the day?" He thought. Kaienrai made his way amongst the villagers, helping them with everyday tasking and pitching in where he was able to. He sang songs and told tales on breaks and over meals, and merriment was the theme throughout that afternoon.

As dusk fell, and Sehanine's smiling face raised in the sky, he made his way to a secluded corner of the village and fell into Reverie under the stars. And, once again, he could not feel his family back in Silverymoon..not his mother, or brothers, or even Glaise. The love of the Protector, however, was felt in every ounce of his being.

Kaienrai sat, eyes closed, still in the grasp of an extended reverie. Try as he might, he still couldn't "feel" his mother or family back in Silverymoon. He continuously prayed to Corellon and entered reverie looking for some sign or signal that his family was alive and well. It has been some time now since the events brought him south to Baldur's Gate, and a few moons since the last sign of the Banite visited him. And now...nothing. Worry has been gripping him more and more over the last tenday and to his frustration with no answer.

Looking around the village, a small smile grew on his face as he bared witness to the changes undergoing the village and the villagers whom welcomed all Dharasha. He smiles thinking he had something to do with that. For now, construction was underway, the Selu'Onal and Cor'Selu'Taar personally saw to it along with the sage guidance of the Archmage. All was blooming here in the Misty, yet all was not right in other parts of his life. He knew what he had to do, though he hesitated briefly before rising. It would be a long journey, but he knew in his heart of hearts that it must be done.

After an hour or so passed, he entered the Caercilcarn with a travel pack and penned a quick memo to Dharasha:

"Dharashans,

Guardians. Friends. Mentors. I have headed north to Silverymoon on a journey of resolution. Many of you know what transpired in my past and it is time I put it to rest. Know that I am stepping on this road north a stronger Elf than I was when you first accepted me into the fold. And the memories of revelry and battle at your sides I will always cherish. This is just something that must be completed. I will return when I discover the truth.

Your friend,
Kai'enrai Gaeavae'ess"

Kaienrai stood staring at the half circle of standing stones for a good hour. Bedraggled, hungry and tired, the trip back from Silverymoon ran him the full gauntlet of emotions…grief, self loathing, sorrow, hatred, vengeance and finally…acceptance. Sort of.

He remembered the joy he felt standing outside the door of his former home in Silverymoon. The sun was shining, the merchants bustling and children playing..business as usual in the Gem of the North. Nothing was out of place. Nothing on the outside would prepare him for the shock of what he found on the inside. Whispering the cantrip that unlocked the door, he turned the handle and barged in..the words of a greeting falling from his lips.

What he saw on the inside filled him with horror. Dried blood in the shape of a gauntlet was littered over the entire villa. Hundreds of symbols on the floor, on the walls and on the ceiling were visible. He stopped in the doorway, speechless and horrified. He stood for what felt like an eternity before finally taking a step..inch by inch into the villa. Slowly he drew Cor’Evaliir from it’s sheath and made his way through every room looking for some sign of his family with no luck. Nothing moved in the haunted villa. He slowly gripped the symbol of Corellon and fell on his knees, praying for guidance.

He prayed and wept, and prayed and pleaded, and prayed and begged for something. Some form of guidance. As minutes turned into hours, the reality of what transpired sank deeper within him. A feeling of loss overtook him and he collapsed on the floor in the hearth room. Sobbing.

The next few weeks found him in the local tavern. Dirty and unwashed and smelling of hard spirits, he literally lived there. And when they closed, he lived on the street outside, sleeping in a drunken stupor. That was his lifestyle now in Silverymoon. The loss fully set in and no longer did he enjoy reverie…the grief within him prevented that. The guilt of what happened because of his actions overwhelmed him and he sobbed, drunk, each night, cradling the sheath of Cor’Evaliir until exhaustion overtook him. Malnourished and unwashed, he grew sick and frail..consigned to the fate he thought he deserved. He hated himself for running from Silverymoon that night. He blamed Corellon for what befell his family..often drunkenly yelling at the Crescent Moon and hurling rocks at it. Corellon had abandoned the House Gaeavae’ess and he hated the First of the Seldarine for that.

As moons passed, he squandered his gold, and belongings, selling his body for a few measly coppers in order to drink more and more. His one and only possession he continually cherished was Cor’Evaliir. The longsword was the only item he had left connecting him to his past. He cherished the gift from his now dead mentor more than anything else and would not sell it.

As time rolled on, he became increasingly disastrous. He no longer sang, the music of his hearth taken from him that fateful day he stepped into his former home. He lost faith in the Seldarine, himself and in his future..he resigned to wither away into nothing and die.

And he prepared to do so. Reeking of alcohol and stumbling drunkenly, he made his way to his former home, sword in hand. He burst into the door, screaming foul nothings at no one but screaming with all his drunken strength. He drew Cor'Evaliir, it's blade still shining from enchantment and began to hack at the bloodstains on the walls. Yelling in denial, in hatred, cursing Bane, the Seldarine and Corellon! Finally, exhausted and sobbing, he readied the blade to plunge into his stomach.

As the sword came down it flashed a brilliant silver and did not pierce his skin. The light, blinding him, forced him to stumble back where he tripped and knocked his head on a column, collapsing on the floor like an empty body.

He awakened in a daze, but no longer in his former home. All he saw was white. Head still groggy and vision blurred, he tried to get up but could not. He could not move. He tried screaming but no sound came out. He was trapped. Overhead a Crescent Moon formed and surged in radiant blue light above him. As the light touched him it filled him with warmth and joy and love. But it was not his. It was...from his family. He could feel them and hear them. He could sense them, their emotions, their...happiness. The light flared brighter and now love...the likes of which he never felt before invaded his being, nourished him, mended his soul and filled his entire being. Renewed vitality flowed through him and around him and he for a moment, he was in bliss. He knew now his family was gone. But now they rested in Arvandor and...happy. He tried getting up, to move to join them, but he still could not move. He used all his strength and every ounce of himself but the will of the Crescent Moon held him fast. It blazed and glowed and he felt anger and love both flowing into him. He heard the words flow through his head: "Your work is not done yet."

He awoke on the floor of his former home, staring blankly at the now spotless ceiling and walls around him. On his chest lay Cor'Evaliir and his old, mithril Crescent Moon symbol of Corellon Larethian

Kaienrai sat on the back of the horse drawn wagon heading south. The journey back to the Misty Forest would take a moon or more with the size of the wagon trail he was with but he didn’t mind. This would give him some much needed time to think of this new path Corellon has guided him too.

He spent the last two tendays allowing his health to fully return. He practiced day in and out for hours training with Cor’Evaliir and as his muscle memory returned, he training harder and harder with the longsword, completing moves and maneuvers he did not dare to try previously. He lost himself in the blade, focusing every ounce of anger into his training and learning the way of the blade once more.

For the first time in months, he read on the teachings of the Protector, and remembered his role in regards to Tel’Quessir everywhere. He felt guilty at first for neglecting the Coronal for so long, but as he read on, his heart paced and his spirit renewed again. He had lost his hearth song, the voice within him that granted him use of the Art from his music, but gained a renewed faith and abilities he was still figuring out. Corellon’s Lyrics flowed freely into his mind when he called it, and it stood ready to answer his call when needed. It allowed him to cast a few cantrips here and there at first but as his bond with Corellon grew stronger, so did the effects he could reproduce. In truth, it frightened him a bit, and he made it a point to consult with Cormiira Kirias as soon as he returned on his new found abilities.

He kept busy closing the affairs of the estate, cleaning out the villa that was his former home, selling what he could for gold and keeping what namesakes he thought relevant. He focused on the love his home once held, of the memories growing up there and of his training with his mentor, Glaise. He forced the events that led to his families death out of his mind and focused only on the good.

As the caravan traveled on he lost himself in thoughts of his past life, his family, his childhood and his mother, smiling to himself as he was overcome with joy. The smile faded quickly as the image of a shiny gemstone, a ruby, no bigger than his finger nail popped into his thoughts. With a sharp gasp, he recognized it for what it was: His Matron’s Tel’Kiira….
