Last I checked, babies come from having sex.
You don't have to RP sex to get your character pregnant.

*They look at eachother for a few passionate moments before excusing themselves from the company of their friends and the victory celebrations from a battle well-fought, walking hand-in-hand for the stairs leading up to the rentable rooms of the tavern*

That's all you need. Everyone know, or at least suspect what is going to happen, but it's not RP'ed. There's no breaking of PG-13 rules. Is it a sexual encounter? No, it's innuendo - something which was present in the original Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn game, also rated PG-13.

Still seems like it's legitimizing or capitalizing on something we're supposed to avoid or downplay anyways.

Baby isn't downplaying. Especially not if it become an active part of your roleplay...

We can't RP as children, no. We can have DM's spawn children to interact with, I've seen that before in rare circumstances. But having a family "back home" to protect seems like a good incentive for any character to reconsider actions and put more thought to what is happening next, more so than before getting a family.

As I've said already, the only major issue I have with the updated rules is if it forced you to not play a character. The nature of how you play your character is going to change, as it should, but not allowing you to play your character at all for several months, that seems a bit too harsh.

This is my fault. The rules were changed because of a discussion and majority decision between the DM Staff. Distracted by other things, I did not post an update, to which the past shows, I usually do.

You are correct on both counts. However, that DM spawn child is an NPC, that which the Player cannot control. Interact with, yes. Control, no. So, allowing PCs to have babies, would be giving them an NPC to control. NO!

Yes, and this is the basis for many a biography. But a biography for a PC does not mean you need to be pregnant on this Server. Pregnancies would effect your Character Sheet. But we do not have a Pregnancy Feat, nor will we have one.

Yes, and no. You can play your Character, but just as this Server has Rules again ERP, rape, etc., it now has a Clause against Pregnancy unless a DM is supervising the storyline.

That's what I said. Interact with.

What happens to existing pregnancies then? Are those players forced to retire their character now that the rules have changed, or will they be given DM support for the pregnancy? The latter seems the most fair.

I think pregnancy is a fine way to retire or semi-retire a character. My character Layana had already adopted a child through a dm event, so she already had the responsibilities. She was in a relationship with a male at the time, I asked the player behind the character if he was fine with me rolling for such each month and he did not object. She was very lucky (or unlucky depending how you see it) to conceive so quickly.

Since her pregnancy has become apparent she has left the Greyfox camp maybe... two or three time, those were all to go to WMT open nights. She has by no means gone out adventuring or sought any danger. I've retired her to a purely RP position. There are already children present about the camp so I don't see how having a PC who also has children about the camp would change much.

I do think people RPing bringing children adventuring is not okay. My character constantly fuses over the safety of her adopted child.

I think you should be able to apply, with your story semi written. Hut it should be still possible, it's better then all the torture and so forth going on at the moment. Yet that is still do approved.
But I agree that you don't go taking them into a cave until they are like 6... because we'll have you seen the Croods? Lol

More freedom of RP taken away. That's what it is.

I've got nothing against any type of RP. None whatsoever. I just like to have the freedom to NOT rp something that I "dislike" like any adult has choices in life.

How hard it is to write down "I don't consent to Torture RP" in one's bio?

Here, on this server, we're treated like pre-puberty teenagers, with silly rules and people act like offended Teenagers because of such.

It's truly a matter of why the hell should it matter to anyone what you do, what you RP if you do not force it on others?

I'd rather see pregnancy RPed in a background rather than ingame personally.

Oh, that's an easy one ! Perhaps BECAUSE of the utterly foolish garbage that sometimes passes for "Role Play" I have personally witnessed on this server ? It's a sad truth, but without rules guiding what is and what is not acceptable, it leaves to door WIDE open to asshatery of the most epic proportions. I think the rules, while unfortunate that we NEED them, are there "for our own good", as the saying goes.

With regards to the actual rule at hand....uhhh... Nope. I also don't want to see supposedly pregnant ladies out in harm's way, and much LESS so, their newborns.

The fact this topic is a hot one is proof enough of the emotions surrounding this issue.

+1 How I feel exactly if you want to take this path i am sure there are mature PW's you can rp on.

I live by one simple principle:

What you don't like doesn't mean it should be banned for everyone. I truly believed that the server was a place where we can discuss rules, policies and, god forbids, BECOME A SERVER FOR THE PLAYER BY THE PLAYER.

I swear to god, I read some replies and I only see Wesboro Baptist church with sings poping in my mind, protesting that what their bible say must be everyone's dogma or we'll all burn to hell.

Oh, that's an easy one ! Perhaps BECAUSE of the utterly foolish garbage that sometimes passes for "Role Play" I have personally witnessed on this server ?

Like what? Concrete exemples?

And for the love of god, who watches Game of Throne and keep watching it even after the horrors we've seen in it and voted "Oh dear god, no fake, pixeled pregnant women in ma game!" ? This is like the "horrible adult movies" everyone seems to hate and demonize yet is more lucrative then Pg-13 movies. This is a great show of hypocrisy of society.

For any of you who watches graphic movies/series and play Rated R games are offended by any type of RP, Shame on you and your hypocrisy.

Perhaps some more detailed rules for what it entails to be in a DM-sponsored pregnancy is in order then?

I'd still like to know what is going to happen for those who already have a pregnancy running?
  • Ret-con?
  • Auto-sponsored?
  • Something else?
