The angel still lasts only 60-70ish rounds (depending on CL), though, or 80 for the epic gate. That's long, but not long enough to waste spending 10ish rounds buffing it up as you would the elemental or undead. That's my point. Durability.
All wizards have good, short lasting effectiveness. Evil (or evil oriented) wizards have vastly superior durability.

The neverending elementals of a Thaumaturgist are inferior to the Vampire of a PM 10, but the T's Angel has no counterpart in the PM's arsenal. That is what I meant to say.
I also would not buff the Angel for 10 rounds, unless I want him to kill the Frost King (it can, as Valefort showed a while ago). With three/four spells, he can go into battle, and the rest I apply while he fights. I used to do the same with Extended Vampires, back in the days (1 round/lvl ones).

That's how I did it during the testing as well. 8 minutes is a fair bit but you have to send him fighting fast nonetheless and buff while he destroys things, begin with extended displacement (6 minutes, almost the whole angel summoning time) and he won't get hurt too much while you buff him under invis.
