so mishaps do happen still. if they are not premeditated murder right? another scenario im curious how the near-mythal would handle it. A mage and his apprentice, the apprentice fails miserably at something and the mage looses his temper and casts a small spell to teach the apprentice a lesson, not to kill him. how do you think the near-mythal would react?
I interpret the wards this way,
The schools of magic make and maintain portions of the wards that shield S'shamath. So they can also design spells which are exempted from the wards they made. Either through spell design or by designating a spell that shouldn't be stopped by the wards they control.
All the schools of magic therefore possesses spells which are which are not stopped by the wards. In case the other schools try anything in spite of the wards. Among these spells are methods to hurt students who annoy their teachers. These methods would be carefully guarded by each school, to avoid other schools or foreigners from being able to use that magic against them.

@DM Ioulaum
A bit confused now.
Are you saying that there in theory could be spell duels without restrictions of place within Sshamath? (The guards would act somehow in most places I guess)
Because that is how I read the possibility of casting offensive spells without the wards going off.
Or is it a more select selection of spells we are discussing within the frame of spells the schools keep live beneath the ward?
Wrack seems like a more probable candidate among many..
@Mireigi
I dont know what you are referring to when it comes to your comment on lolthite use of the Kiss, the comment is too generalistic.
But I do know that when I have been using the study, conference table, torture chambers etc within Temple roleplay it has been mentioned that either it is a leased study or that the roleplay actually took place at another location.
I might have forgotten to mention the established practice once in a while, mea culpa.
This is brought on by the fact that neither the Temple of Lolth nor House Sshamath is de facto ingame sites.
Same goes for how other factions and groups sometimes use said establishment, the darkspires area, the commander's tent, the school of mages and the necromancer school etc. The lack of content when it comes to housing in Sshamath is sad but a reality affecting both players and DMs.
Darkwoods doesnt even have one single housing building to roleplay in.
I can see how things might have gotten confused, garbled and sometimes misinterpreted.

@Storm,
I think that's what he / she means. By the sound of it these are custom spells which means they are not available to players. I imagine it would be safe / allowed to roleplay that a spell hurts an apprentice. It just doesn't let us fight in the City or use spells to hurt people in non-school roleplay.
It works for me. I noticed that you can also dominate, charm and polymorph others under the current rules. So there is a lot of room for intrigue while the idea of the wards as a mechanism to keep the peace is preserved.

If it is explained beforehand that the Spider's Kiss is being used to portray a location that exists, but isn't currently IG, then I have no problems with it. But I've seen many occurences where females, both lolthites and otherwise, have been specifically refering to and using the Spider's Kiss as the tavern it is, with no mention of anything being different.

The UD need more taverns, inns (with actual rooms), boarding houses, slum and slave quarters, a generic household compound or three, another source of clerical services, a starting point that isnt right in a tavern (the traffic to the merchants, the dishwasher and the door being horrible sources of distraction) e t c.
Meanwhile we all make do with what is available, it is a problem for players as well as DMs.
The only decent fireplace and dinner party scenery is in the Mage School, only the Darkspires section have actual living quarters, the Luckhorn's gullet at least have a minimal bar section open during an apparent reconstruction (newly added

), the Bregan D'Aerthe pub is nice but the surroundings and wine list tacky at best, the one decently arrayed social room beyond Gloura's (Where are those waitresses and bards anyway?) is the reception of the Necromancer school alas the atmosphere are not that cheerful and so on.
In fact, as is, only the Necromancer school and the Bregan D'Aerthe hideout stand out in a good way but most to all of those are not public access.
It could be worse, but this is what we have.
Either we pick a spot to roleplay and deal with the difficulties that come with it, or we could just sit in the bazaar sulking about nothing ever happening and curse the wonderful server staff for their blatant surface urban scenery bias.
Lets make do and hope.
Feeling slightly off topic by now.

I ran one such event where Lolthites used the Spider's Kiss. It was actually intentional, an expression of wealth and power (and a message to the other Lolthite houses) that they could "tame" the Spider's Kiss for a day.

Hmm I have a lot of areas gathering dust from other projects. I could probably look over some of them and see if their is some nice UD type interiors if its something the server staff would be interested in adding.

Hello!
I've search the forums quite a bit, but is there any guidance out on gaining citizenship within Sshamath? Or are all drow automatically considered citizen's even when not originally from Sshamath?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
P.s. Really impressed with the organization going on in the Gloura's Wing!

Currently I believe you still need to do the mini events to attain the Citizenship writ for the ward spires to work properly.
IE you need DM assistance.
Edit:
Once you have it.. for the love of the gods dont try to move it from your inventory (like a barter). It will disappear without a trace!

Moradin,
That is an amazing map. Makes me dream of a map that says East of Sshamath.

The lothite city of Shyndrylyn just east of Ssahamath.
