After some time, and as the vigil for his release grows in size, a man is thrown from a black carriage moving at high speed past the Song of the Morning temple. The man has a black bag over his head and is bound. After his binds are cut and the bag removed, it is made clear that the man is the now released Lathanderite Eldarian Al'maire. Surprising much of the crowd, Eldarian says some words of loyalty to Amn instead of anger against it and seems to appear mostly unharmed and in good condition after his detention. Some of the locals gathered then seem to praise Amn for its mercy in releasing Eldarian despite his rumored crime of sedition against Amn. Others locals frown at the prospect of Amn being anything but foul in its rule in Beregost. A long political argument ensues among the locals gathered as Eldarian goes back into the Song of the Morning temple.

Dawnpriest Tolan and Sister Hannah leave the Song of the Morning temple a few hours before sunrise and heads north of the town of Beregost. Here they are joined by Loriah Swift, another priestess of Lathander. The three arrive at an empty clearing less than an hour before dawn. Strengthened by the rays of the morning sun, under the guidance of Tolan, the three initiate a ritual to scry the identity of the assassin who attempted to end Antolina Burgoz's life at her public appearance several days ago.

The ritual is off to a good start, and some knowledge is gained, but before any of them can begin to reflect upon the newly aquired information, an assassin strikes at the trio, targeting Tolan first. Wearing only his priestly robes, and not warded against attacks, Tolan is quickly knocked unconcious. Hannah does her best to fight back, but meets a similar fate. Loriah, the last to be targeted by the assassin, manages to shield herself from his attacks. His work done, however, the assassin leaves as quickly as he arrived.
Loriah helps Tolan and Hannah back on their feet after they wake. They have barely risen before the assassin returns. Through the quick thinking of Loriah, however, the trio is shielded completely from further attacks from the assassin. After the assassin leaves for the second time, the trio decides to return to the Song of the Morning temple.

Arriving at the temple, they are greeted with the sight of two dead bodies outside the temple, with several templars and guards in front of the main doors. A brief explanation from Templar Brian reveals that two assassins tried to enter the temple, but where stopped and killed. Sheriff de Oca arrives to learn what the commotion was all about, rumor of the attack having reached him. He requests a written statement from the temple on the attack during the ritual, and leaves some his guards to help the templars clean up.
Tolan and Hannah both enter the temple to check on Antolina Burgoz, while Loriah remain outside to help the guards and templars identify and remove the bodies of the two deceased assassins.

*After returning from their botched scrying of the bloody bolt thwarted by an assasin, Tolen, Hannah and Loriah arrive to a grisly scene infront of the Temple. It had been Attacked!! Two dead individuals, several guards and Templars. A few moments later joined by Herran and Ylu. The Templars saying the two dead were caught trying to sneak into the temple and assaulted them so they were killed. As Tolan and Hannah went inside to check on the "Patient".... Loriah, Herran and Ylu searched the bodies for anything to identify them. Loriah found a sugar packet from Amn that Herran said was more specifically from the Amnian Sugar Company in Athkatla. And that the packets are not widely distributed.. which would imply they were from that area. Herran found some lint and a Button. The button he surmised was from the Amn Military. After introductions and words of thanks the three parted and Lori went to join Tolan and Hannah. Personally handing Tolan the sugar packet and button and telling him Herran offered his services to help in this investigation as he has done extensive investigations into many things in Amn as a Seeker in Candlekeep. Loriah then, after saying she would keep her ears and eyes open for any more information... departing once again to do her duty in the crypts. *

Some armed men were cut down trying to sneak into the temple of Lathander in Beregost today as witnessed by locals. The Lathanderite and Amnian guard outside of the temple has apparently been doubled as a result by the Sheriff, Kelddath, Captain de Coibra. It is also rumored that some Lathanderites attempting to perform some rituals in the woods nearby were attacked as well today.

Nearing the end of the day, Hannah returns to the temple to seek out Dawnpriest Tolan. The two talk briefly, some tension between them, before they both head upstairs to tend Antolina Burgoz. Some time later, Hannah returns down, looking quite out of herself. Tolan follows down a few minutes later.
A female elf asks for a moment of his time in private, and he escorts her to another part of the temple where they can talk undisturbed. They both return down less than half an hour later, the female elf looking none too happy.
Lastly, the priestess of Sune, Tegan, calls upon Tolan, and learns of the attack on Antolina Burgoz. Needing some time away from his duties to breathe, Tolan agrees to a quick patrol when Tegan asks him. He returns less than two hours later and spends some time with Antolina Burgoz, before going to his private chambers to file even more reports.

During her time at the temple, Tolan asks Hannah to help him with a delicate procedure aimed to prolonge the life of Antolina Burgoz. Hannah begins by using various items to elevate the patient’s head by at least thirty degrees to prevent aspiration. She takes the materials Tolan had gathered to be used for tubing and casts multiple spells on it to kill any microorganisms living on the material. She first measures the tubing from the tip of the patient’s nose to her ear lobe, making a small mark for reference. In like fashion she measures from the ear lobe to the estimated location of Lady Burgoz’s stomach making another small mark.
After lubricating the tubing with some almond oil, Hannah slowly inserts the tubing through Lady Burgoz’s nose with Tolan holding the patient’s head forward at Hannah’s instruction. With the head forward as well as a stimulated swallow reflex preventing the entrance of the tube into the trachea as opposed to the esophagus, Hannah slowly threads the tubing down into Lady Burgoz’s stomach. Hannah confirms the tubing as being in the correct location before she feeds the goodberry solution through the tubing.
Hannah leaves quite hastily after leaving continuing care instructions with Tolan. She’s seen practically fleeing the temple afterwards.

Seen exiting the Song of the Morning temple with a rather frustrated expression, a slender figure dressed in dark armor spends some time in the streets of Beregost speaking with a local man by the name of 'James'. The two talk for some time, the female testing the waters on the current situation in town through his single opinion, asking numerous questions with brief nods. Afterward, making sure to keep her clearly elven ears well hidden, the figure makes her way to the barracks and emerges some time later with a satisfied smile.

On the following day, Dawnpriest Tolan tends to the needs of Antolina Burgoz, spending the majority of his time at the temple. When not talking to his patient in an attempt to wake her up through auditory stimuli, he busies himself with idly conversation with the members of the temple on guard duty outside the room in which his patient is kept. He also tends to feeding his patient, as instructed by Hannah the day before.

*The streets of Beregost are busier of late with Amnian guards, which stifles some of the more obvious chatter, and the townsfolk go about their business a little more subdued than usual. However, there are some conversations that rise above the resentful muttering.
Eyes in the Night
A few of the townsfolk speak of seeing shadows at night, the feeling of eyes in the darkness watching them. These are the very men and women who have spoken out against Amn in recent days, or criticised the treatment of Dawnknight Eldarian publicly.
Whispers in the Corn
Some of the farmers coming into Beregost for market speak of strange noises in the fields at night. No trace or track is apparent come the morn, but the farmers are adamant these are not cider-dreams, and something or someone is stalking the cornfields at night.*

Sheriff de Oca may have been seen meeting with adventurers not affiliated with Beregost recently, allegedly about some of the recent attempts on Antolina Burgoz's life, rumors say, as well as about other more sensitive matters.

It may be told of how the tattooed elf steps out from the Sheriff's office, followed quite shortly by her tiefling companion. While the tiefling was going on and on about fiction novels and romantic ideals of assassins, the elf was much more quiet. Trying to rein in the tiefling's enthusiasm before both sought a single room at the inn.

Rumors spread that the injured Antolina Burgoz momentarily awoke in her bed at the Song of the Morning temple in Beregost, but then fell unconscious again. Many in Beregost gossip circles voice skepticism at the truth of these rumors, although some do believe them to be accurate.

Recently, a mulhorandi woman has been sighted around Beregost mingling with the blacksmith and common folk, as well as coming and going from the temple of Lathander. She herself shamelessly wears holy icons of said faith, but is not a member of said temple. Whatever her motives, she has been friendly and forthcoming to those she approaches, and who approach her.

Rumor spreads rapidly that a representative of the Amnian government in Athkatla was overheard in a local Beregost tavern saying that the Governess of Beregost or the Council of Six will be releasing a very significant governing proclamation today and/or tomorrow affecting Beregost, to be formally read out loud in the town square of Beregost. Some may also notice that the entire garrison of Amn in Beregost seems to be active, with none at rest in the barracks. No formal statement on the matter has yet been issued many say.
((Events to be held at 11:30pm GMT today, January 16 and at 4pm GMT tomorrow, January 17.))

Hammer 16, 1351
Shortly after Bailiff Axehand's announcement in Beregost, Shaytessa Umbrynthal enters the Sheriff's office, and quietly approaches the desk of Adjutant Roberto of the Amn Guard.
Giving a formal curtsey and then speaking in a low calm, and almost detached demeanor, "Good sir, perhaps you do not recall, but we have met previously some time ago, I am Lady Shaytessa Umbrynthal, Adjunct to Lady Narasida Zakine Albrongardo of Amn,"
Standing quietly, she allows Adjutant Roberto a moment, before continuing, "As my concern extends to the good people of your town, I feel it is my duty and obligation to inform you that orcs, and other degenerates," her tone turning mildly contemptuous, " are, as we speak, in the streets just outside this office, encouraging treasonous rebellion and actively attempting to provoke a riot against the proper and legal authority of Beregost, and Amn itself. It is my belief, that if such talk is allowed to continue, it may undermine the security of the town and lead to civil unrest."
Pauses and waits for a reply, before thanking him for his time, and stepping back outside.
