This is actually quite inaccurate when it comes to detecting sneaks. As said before build and experience trumps gear. I run store bought gear and have no issues.
JCVD1 wrote:Grandfathered gear is disapearing slowly, as ancient players left the server, stoped playing etc.

There are some who have stealth gear that no matter your level/skill/spells you cannot spot them because of the grandfathered gear.

Some have helmets with true sight or equivalent.

These items, even if few in number, need to get removed. Fairness obliges.

Sooo... Vault wipe, everyone starts fresh with no possible chance of cheating/hiding the system? :D

Agreed, even the top 3 sneak characters on the server with great equipment still gets spotted by most average dragon druids with store-equipment. The advantage of good stealth equipment is that your average joe with 32 listen (-1 due to wisdom) using a wand of amplify and clairvoyance, usually have trouble spotting these characters but few problems spotting stealth characters with store-equipment.

lol a vault wipe would be so sad for all those treasure hunters that spent hours, or days/weeks maybe months to just find a +4 ac amulet

edit- I would be one of those sad people

I'd give you a new one... but I'd lose mine as well. My only opposition to a vault wipe would be that in a year or so, we would be right back to where we are now (minus the "grandfathered" items). Those that spend 18/24 hrs grinding for loot and gear would have tons of decently good stuff, while those of us that go out to a dungeon from time to time, or even only if there's an RP reason, would have very little.

If anyone has a helm that has True sight, please contact the DM team because your item may be illegal and in need of replacement. And when it comes to illegal gear, its better you come to us then we find out about you.

The key to playing a good sneak is to be in good terms with those who can spot you.

+1

some ideas i think would be nice
  • attempt to balance and monitor the economy
  • ig storage for wealth and items
  • no muling
  • no OOC trading or twinking
  • revise wealth so that 1000 nwn2 gold pieces = 1 bgtscc platinum piece = 10 gold pieces = 100 silver pieces = 1000 copper pieces
  • wealth has weight; 50 coin = 1lb (3e) or 10 coin = 1 lb (2e)
  • lore based prices on goods and services
  • crafting: pc and/or npc

also, give item skill bonuses "types" and don't allow bonuses of the same type to stack.

+1, even though it seems were heading in this direction on certain areas, such as the crafting or lore based prices. The coin suggestion is pretty neat, though I'm not sure how easy/hard it would be to get rolling. I could do without muling as well, and an IG storage system would be great. I'm sure there's room in the docks somewhere for such a building...
