The rumours about the thefts and the resulting investigative party soon spread within the walls of the School of Invocation and Evocation; several speculations running among the different ranks of the School. After a longer conversation with the High Necromancer L'Beldroin within the School of Necromancy, Iston would make his way to the Stonestave in order to offer his abilities to the conclave in the expedition to Ss’zuraass’nee. Surprisingly he doesn't ask for any payment as one would expect from a Bregan D'aerthe mercenary.

I'll be there

After asking for an audience with the Archmage M'lan Dar'akstar, Uelaereene has offered to join the investigation expedition as a representative of the School of Invocation and Evocation. It is rumored within the walls of the School that her teacher Zayoull has mediated in this surprising request, strongly suporting it. More surprising is the fact that the Archmage has answered positively, taking into account the known issues the faehlil is having lately trying to fully dominate her powers.

Someone say that, as the School of Invocation and Evocation was not (in theory) interested on this investigation, it wouldn't lose much if something happens to the jalil. Others assure that Zayoull has supported her faehlil in training because she thinks this is an excellent opportunity for her to test her skills in a real stage. Wether these rumours are true or false, truth is that no one is completely sure about the real reasons behind this decision.

Urebril sends a messenger notifying that he will join the investigation, the second seat member Drail will likely be unable to join this time.

The expedition to Ss’zuraass’nee proves uneventful, a good thing, as the group effectively gathers the information they were after as well as finding out a bit of extra information that needs to be sorted out...

Beldroin returns to the School of Necromancy, returning some items she took for trade and writes up a report.

She is seen later heading towards the Stonestave...

When the expedition group returns to Sshamath, the faehlil Uelaereene heads immediately to the School of Invocation and Evocation after courtesly bidding farewell to the rest of its members. Once at the School, she goes directly to the rooms of Master Krondorl Waeglossz, where a long meeting is held. At some point of the meeting the Archmage M'lan Dar'akstar and Zayoull are called by a courier to join it. Some time later, the Commander of the School guards De'allac joins the meeting too. A short time afterwards, the meeting is over and all the participants leave the Master's rooms with a serious mood, returning to their usual tasks.

Uelaereene heads to her private room, not going out until the next cycle. Strangely, she doesn't return to her usual training at the School courtyard; anyway, her trainer Zayoull has disappeared from the School and no one is able to find her. Some people say she had a private conversation with the Master Archivist. Now the faehlil spends the cycles immersed in the School inventory books at the archives and searching through the storage rooms with the aid of two members of the School guard at her orders.

These extremely odd and unusual facts have created a bunch of rumours within the walls of the School of Invocation and Evocation and the gossipers wonder what is going on. But one thing is sure, that Uelaereene is searching for something...

It is said that a group of Sshamathians recently ventured to the Underdark serpent metropolis of Ss’zuraass’nee on business for the Bureaucracy in service to the Conclave. When they left, it is said that a Yuan-tillithid merchant was found drunk at her merchant stall in a bazaar of the city, not by alcohol, but by a craving for the intoxication of finer poisons. The merchant asleep drunk is said to have recently been in the business of trading materials of draconic origin, including with a particularly wealthy surfacer.

Yath'abban Sil'lilth To'ryllia puts in a formal request with both the Temple of Lolth and then, upon temple approval, the Bureaucracy to represent the Temple within the Bureaucracy. It is her desire to aid in the betterment of Sshamath and the drow community, an interest she believes is shared between the two great organizations.

A while ago Bregan D'aerthe has located an outpost related to a cult of ghaunadaur, which is led by an illithid near the city of S'shamath. Immediately after we acquired said knowledge a letter was sent to Master Malaggar Xarann from the School of Illusions along with a map where the location was marked on.

We offered further assistance in this matter but so far never heard back which makes one wonder if it reached the right ears.

*A representative of the School of Illusion would have thanked them for the report and forwarded it onto the Conclave. The Conclave would then have informed them that if recommended by the Bureaucracy that the Sshamathian military would be sent to destroy the cultish elements if too close to the city.*

A low level Conclave representative is seen entering the School of Necromancy and then a short while after leaving followed by Beldroin. The representative returns to the Stonestave and Beldroin is seen leaving the city.

Urebril and Drail of the Cult of Ghaunadaur haven't been heard from for quite some time, but a newcomer from the city of Ooze has chosen to take the speaking seat the cult holds on the council.

Amal' De'tyl, Fanatic of the overflowing pit stormed into the Stonestave followed by two cultists and slammed a letter on the main desk, he stated while grinding his teeth "I WILL be taking the seat Ghaunadaur holds on your little council from the half-breed. I will be at the next meeting."

Rumours spread that the bureacracy council has met within the Stone Stave in order to discuss various topics related to the city of magic ...

// OOC Note: If your PC does not gain knowledge about the following IC please do not metagame it. What was discussed and decided is supposed to be confidential to the members of the bureacracy. If you wish to become a part of said council you can request it via PM to Dialectic.

First they discussed a reasonable approach in how to deal with an outpost related to the cult of Ghaunadaur close to the city of S'shamath which was located a while ago by agents of Bregan D'aerthe. The council members all agreed that forces should be sent out once the outpost was scryed and scouted so that enough information about fortifications, numbers and other conflict related ressources is gathered.

Furthermore concerns were shared that aggressors might exploit the fact that Charnag Maelthra divisions are away from the city unable to protect it while they deal with the outpost. The bureaucracy council suggests that forces are sent out only in appropriate numbers so that the city is not as vulnerable and there are still enough left to protect the city. Mobilising the forces of S'shamath should also be kept secret for as long as possible so that the window to exploit is as small as possible.

The council went on to discuss the attempted thefts targeted at two dragon scales kept within the School of Necromancy aswell as the School of Evocations and the information gathered from the expedition to Ss’zuraass’nee. A plan was proposed to create fake scales that could fall into the humans hands behind said attempts. These fake scales would be enchanted with magic that leaves them trackable so that the humans location could be scryed.

The Bureaucracy holds its meeting in the Stonestave which proceeds well after some confusion of new arrival is cleared up. Four members gathered for the meeting discuss the current situation and best options for how to proceed...

Following the meeting Beldroin returns to her office to finish some work, returning later to file a report that was sent to the Conclave, disclosed for Bureaucracy records...

Beldroin wrote:Esteemed Conclave of the City,

The expedition to Ss’zuraass’nee has returned from an uneventful trip. As thus, trade relations between Sshamath and Ss’zuraass’nee should have naut been damaged by our visit for information.

We have successfully found the suspect merchant, Ssssyuuok, who is an yuan-tillithid and have determined that she is a typical merchant however is being controlled, possibly by illithids from Llacerellyn but it is uncertain, through her amulet. When asked about what she was doing in Sshamath she never said what it was exactly and seemed very keen on dodging that particular point, but did say she had hired merchants with her that were sent to collect items from in Sshamath, as the only thing she would reveal about her own intentions was that it differed from the item retrieval.

The items themselves are two dragon scales, one from a red dragon and one from a prismatic dragon both of which whom were killed in the same special way. These items are located in two different schools of magic inside of Sshamath, those schools likely being the School of Necromancy and the School of Evocation and Invocation that had the attempted break ins. Ssssyuuok said she told them to get the items by any means necessary, so she is definitely the link to the break ins we were after, though again she is being dominated and we do naut know exactly by whom, but it is safe to say based on our interaction with her that it likely the controlling party at fault and naut particularly the merchant class of Ss’zuraass’nee.

Ssssyuuok is a merchant who specializes in the trade of draconic reagents which is an interest to ussa as usstan work with draconic reagents often. Usstan requested some dragon blood for trade and she revealed that she did naut have any and that the items from Sshamath, the two scales, is what she was waiting on to trade for dragon blood from a kivvil Lord by the name of Efar from a place called Waterdeep.

Usstan am uncertain of how to assess the threat of the attempt to retrieve the two dragon scales as usstan know little of the scales. So far it seems there is nau reason to remove them from their safe keeping and attempts thus far have been petty and are of nau concern for our standard practices, so based on the little usstan know usstan do naut think there is reason to change anything with what we are doing. The intentions of this kivvil Lord are unclear however but given he has gone through alternate means to reach the items it does naut seem he is a threat but perhaps just influential and it may just be the group that he is using that needs our attention. However usstan also do naut believe it wise to simply ignore him either, just in case.
