Yes. Play for RP, not for mechanical progression, if you play today.

Anything you gain or lose will likely be reversed to about four hours ago once the issue is corrected.

Np then... even if I lose the lv I will gain tonight I will still only be 7k from it after rollback. Who knows... maybe I wont lose it after the rollback, can always hope. Long as the bug does not get me I am fine with that.

Also, weird bug with item ability bonuses not being picked up.

Wizard 6 Eldritch Knight 10 with 16 INT and Ring +2 INT to total 18 INT only had up to level 6 spells in spell book. Should of had up to level 8 of course.

Sorry, now it is showing that I was de-leveled from 30 to 23, that is why the spellbook went down

From what it sounds like this bug only affects lv20+ characters... is that confirmed?

Issue may or not be related to quest creatures.

Be sure to get a Screen Shot of any XP losses not associated with a trip to Myrkul.

FWIW, my L2 test PC earned 24Xp for smacking a skeleton.

I also just initiated a ServerVault backup. The one before is 7Apr.

I think it would be a good idea to backup the vault before you guys are launching a mass scale update. Not judging, just saying, future reference.

Is there a common occurrence with the XP loss? All the screenshots I've seen show it being lost from the RP experience generator. Or maybe it has something to do with ECL or on certain events. I know Duster and Rasael are working to fix it but maybe if we could collect the circumstances around the loss, it might help narrow down where to look for the issue. If those that lost XP could post whether they have an ECL and what you were doing when it occurred, it might help?

Just got the hit myself. Also knocked me down to 23. The only thing I've done since the update is RP. I got the hit on an RP exp tick. I've done no quests, killed no mobs, not even rested.

The server seems to be thinking that 23 is the max appropriate level and deleveling people above it. Is there some server setting that got ticked accidentally somewhere?

Well that means i'm safe then... lv 15. Btw if its the rp xp giver that is causing the problem then simply don't rp. Use tells or party chat for talking until the problem is fixed. You wont gain any rp xp and thus circumvent the issue entirely.

Pre-update backups would be ideal yes. I do server character vault backups on a roughly weekly basis, myself, for worst case scenarios. Usually every weekend. But we can start trying to be a little more consistent with pre-update backups as well.

Just keep in mind that everyone's doing this on their own time, and for free. So we will occasionally overlook things in our hurry to go spend our free time doing more enjoyable things in our time off from real life work!

Fortunately, we should only lose about a day this time thanks to Duster47's quick thinking. The people who lost xp before the backup will be identified and corrected after the rollback.

So here is the deal... Head Developer Talking... not HDMs.

Something is really borked with XP for higher level PCs. I do not know what/why.

I tried reverting to last weekend's Backup then patched up to yesterday, when things were working OK, then only add area and item changes from the update I was trying to push out today. Still no-joy on XP issue.

I will need to spend awhile locally back-patching to figure out what happened, what broke, and correct it with Rasael's help. This will take hours...

I made a ServerVault backup about a half hour after this mess started. I highly suspect we will roll-back to that once the update issue is resolved. Hopefully the few of you who got XP-losses early on have screenshots to share with DM Team to get your lost XP restored.

Meanwhile, we all have RL stuff to do, as do I. Already lost half of my day-off putzing with this. The Server is on/up. I will drop the Player password, but be forewarned - you may loose XP, whatever you do today, maybe tomorrow, will very likely be rolled back.
