I remember having one of the flaming fists at the time stop my character at the bridge, between the eastern farmlands and the road to fai, because i was running on it.
"What if ye had pushed an old lady off the bridge, ye think of that?!"
That conversation went on for 20 minutes.
Yeah no... it was blatant abuse of power.
Luckily i never met one again.

I had the class on my first character. Fun for a while, and auto-spotting everyone was a nice gimmick, but I felt that canon factions and those with in-game authority were never run properly. Unfortunate.

////this was a npc flaming fist rumor.... Enjoy!
Flaming Fist Getting Frisky (rumor)
"That's what they all say! Never heard a thief admit to his crimes, even whilst in the act, isn't it so!" was heard by some people walking the road south of the Baldors Gate bridge. They would might possibly even recognized the young lady as Terri Lalani. She was being harassed by some Flaming Fist guards. Claims of her being a theft was the talk. The items that was being discussed as the possible stolen merchandise was some closed barrels and crates, the contents not visible. After the Fist Mercenary patted down Terri, a bit too eagerly perhaps, coin exchanged hands and Terri headed off south to calls of "She's still here! Should we charge her for insubordination?" She is seen running off quickly after that.

Probs I'm not inventing anythng new, but:
Officals MUST have power over their subjects. That power can be abused, and naturally will be abused by some people.
This means, that they can fine or even jail people for no reason, BUT, and that is a big BUT it will have severe consequences if they do so.
Now, as I see the problem is: this kind of power must be supervised closely, as the crime-punishment scenario gives a lot of opportunites to abuse power IC and, sadly, OOC. Now in a PW with this kind of popularity, can't be done.
The only way I could see this work, would require way too much DM resource and a very strict application system.
So how could it work (in theory):
- All "offical" business must be screenshotted, and sent to a group of DMs (preferably ones who have different opinions on several things)
- Shady buisness is ok, but if someone rats you out, or they find it out, you can say bye-bye to your Fist office (and probs your toon if you don't want to rp years in jail). This does not means that you can't make mistakes, but some actions should have consequences.
- Strict application, weekly reports, etc.
- Possible payment? +1/+2 gear for free?
- Revised class (No op spot thing)
That is all what came to my mind right now.
But to be fair that can not be done. It looks good on paper, for some maybe.
Just my handful of dollars.

They were not good and it's worrying to see anyone who thinks they were. FF PCs drove several people from this server. Thankfully we have better head DMs these days.
Myhun was in the Flaming Fist. The players in question who abused it were custom PCs in a group called Norton's Bastards who were made level 30 automatically by their DM buddies and existed soley to be antagonistic. Even though my character out ranked them, they would never follow orders and the original PCs in the Fist got all the complaints about them.
An example of one of them? Any of you remember Thedran Rock? He was always quick to anger and spoke with his sword first before words. There's your typical member of the Bastards.

oh dont even get me started on that dude
there was nortons bastards and then crownsilvers original crew (the legit FF guys) and this was back when i still had lynn who was a ML
so something happens at the bridge, wasnt there - dont know what exactly, but rock was there and had got called to go with the FF to be questioned about what happened, however he didnt want to go - he wasnt under arrest they just wanted to ask him what happened but he made a huge deal out if it and ran to beregost
so im sitting in the temple minding my own business and here he comes to hide, we talk a bit and then he is followed by one of crownsilvers guys who asks that i turn him over for questioning and i had no idea what was goin on and had no reason to say no but then here comes the bloody major of beregost out of nowhere from the temple controlled by one of the regime DMs sayin that rock isnt going anywhere
im not really arguing that he was guilty or anything like that but im bringing up the whole diplomatic relations bit with baldurs gate by holding this guy and that if he didnt even do anything then why did he even run when they just wanted to ask him questions? then in their defensive they had the balls to say it was because the FF were corrupt and they didnt trust them
so we sat in the temple for about an hour basically rping to a pair of walls when crownsilvers guy just gave up and let it drop and he left to go back to BG and lynn walked back with him
all that trouble because he didnt want to be detained
nevermind about how much he cries when he loses pvp fights that -he- picked

Why anyone would want to bring back any of its elements back into play is beyond me...
Unless of course they played a pivotal role in those dark days and they yearn for the spotlight once again.
A few rotten apples caused the tree to fall. And yes, Myhun did play a pivotal role. If you do a basic forums search for Myhun and go to page 7+ you'll see some really good RP. Again, the only darkness that came from it was 95% from these Norton's Bastards. The Crownsilver crew policed themselves and trimmed the rotten ones. (Beren Cross anyone?)
You can call it a dark part of the server as much as you'd like and yes, I even remember when people would complain about Myhun. But if people are going to leave because they got reprimanded for summoning undead and face consequences then perhaps they're not the best RPers to want to have on the server.
Besides, as it stands now, I've never seen someone summon an undead of demon without some adventurer playing the hero in the current mind frame.

What part of; DMs gave characters free level 30 power builds JUST to be a part of the Fist that the old regular Fist members didn't have jurisdiction over that people seem to be disregarding here?
