Dialogue doesn't appear to work for me. I use the item and I get "activate" self queued with a talk icon lined up.

It's general confusion because the system creates a clone of the item in your inventory that maintains the old item appearance until you finish the conversation, at which point it removes it. There was a duplication possibility I fixed earlier this morning that caused a 2 hour rollback, so it's likely that was what you were hearing reports of.

On the other hand, if they've discovered a new bug, those players should probably be making these reports to the devs, so we can determine the circumstances that caused it. ;)

Yes, I put the new conversation file in module folder while the server was already running, so it won't become available until after the next reset.

No windows or dialogues or anything popping up.

Instead, you will find the an item called "Appearance Kit" for sale at the following vendors:
  • Aello in Baldur's Gate
  • The Barkeep in the Winding Way Inn
  • Bentley and his wife, at the Friendly Arm Inn (and the Temple)
  • The basic equipment vendor in Gloura's Wings.
Over time, I will try to add this to more vendors, but these are the four places where we had consignment shops so it seemed like a good start, at least.

Use the item in your inventory to activate the dialogue.

Not being able to hit "Go back" is intentional. Finalizing a property or piece of armor will cause the dialogue to end, and cancelling the changes should return you to the main menu. This is working as intended, so try to make sure you pick the right choice the first time.

There are still things like Gargoyle wings and odd appearances that should not be used unless your character has a legitimate need to dress up for a play or masquerade (or something of a similar vein like that).

Don't like the gold cost, not at all, especially when it costs 100gp to change the type (cloth, chain, plate etc), another 100gp to change the variation (appearance) and -another- 100gp to change the colour per item!! And I haven't even begun talking about changning vambraces, pauldrons,, thigh guards, knee guards etc etc! Each piece costs 100gp! You're looking at easily 2,000gp just to change a complete suit of armour. Once!

Also, it looks like heaps of armour variations are missing. I tried to make a suit of Mithral Half-Plate resemble full plate, and of the dozens of fullplate appearances only 3 of them actually worked. The rest just showed an unclothed appearance with vambraces and pauldrons. This was for a drow.

[Edit] Tested again trying to mod MHP to chainmail, only the basic chainmail appearances are working. Pretty much all the custom (ie, new) ones are missing. Same for cloth & leather. Only the already existing BGTSCC outfit designs can be chosen. Dozens are missing from each type.

Is there an option to add or change a belt that is on the appearance of the armor? That was one of the few things I could not find. Not terribly concerned about the gold cost. Maybe lower it a bit. It is a good gold sink but for lower level players 100GP per change is a bit expensive.

Lower level players still have the other changer, right? Beside, we desperately need a real gold sink.

Also, the new Epic Shop (called, humorously, The Gold Sink), is not a gold sink. It is a shop. It can't be a gold sink unless you are buying things that do not last or offer no permanent benefit. This is a stop gap measure until people buy what they want. The best suggestion I have heard to date for an actual gold sink is when we go back to the old RCR, allow RCRs up to 30 for a significant gold cost (but keep the 50% reduction).

No current plans on the drawing board for it's removal.
