The tall man notices the case in walking by, "Hmm, odd that this precaution only showed up after my writings were conveniently covered by an accidental spill." He seems to think a moment, before leaving. He comes back after some time with a small clay pot, and without breaking or jostling or trying to open anything, simply paints the front glass black so no one can tell what it is for. He then pastes a small notice on the front that reads:

"Out of Order"

He looks over his handiwork momentarily, nodding to himself as he exclaims, "Yes, that seems about fair, tit for tat and all..."

A red haired scolar walks by, adjusting her spectacles as she eyes the tall man at the box for a few moments "Are you vandalising?" She asked out loud to him.

(edited twice, as I'm uncertain when the alarm spell rings.)

"Hmm? Oh, yes and no," he answered, before returning to what he was doing. "You see, the girl that wrote this happens to be a decent person, in my opinion, if a bit misguided. What I am doing, really, is trying to prevent her from being arrested for sedition for the tone of her message. One does not accuse the Dukes and make demands. That is what I am doing, vandalizing simply is the method by which I am doing it.

After which, I will likely pen a letter to this girl and encourage her, despite my disagreement with her goal, to collect signatures privately, on a much more diplomatically worded petition, and send that to the Dukes via courier.

Any more questions, lass?" He asks, nearly finished.

She looks between the box then him. "Any decent wizard knows the cantrip to clean that you know. That box looks well crafted, bad form to waste another mans coin like that."

"Seeing as that man is assisting in spreading what could arguably be considered sedition, he should thank me. Besides, it is simply paint on glass, it can be scraped off."

He stands back, surveying his work with satisfaction.

"I am Liam, a pleasure," he says as he turns. "Perhaps you would care to join me in waiting to see who shows up at this rather pitiable contrivance, that is, if my minor machinations even set off the alarm."

He then flags down a passing porter, and whispers some brief directions to him as he takes up a spot nearby, leaning against a wall. The porter returns shortly with a bottle of wine and two glasses. Liam holds one up to the girl questioningly, "It might be a long wait, after all."

Shandril comes skipping by as she hums a joyful melody, she pauses and examines the contraption for a moment.

"Curious, that was not here before."

She places an odd looking lantern on top of the box and tries to see if it opens in any mannrr, panting a bit as she struggles to figure it out and muttering something about newspapers reserved for arch devils as she kicks the device in frustration.

The woman smiles to him, pinching a red curly lock between her fingers. Letting go she introduces. "Maura, good to meet you." She followed him towards the spot for observation

"I only drink the best offered," she said with a small grin, her hand extending to take the glass offered.

"Well, this is the best offered by default of being the only offer," Liam grins. "But, I assure you, it is also a good vintage."

He pours them both a glass as he watches Shandril, a small chuckle escaping his lips as he passes the glass to Maura.

"And now we wait."

Kro the red skinned black horned Teifling trots up to the box.
"Ah here it is....Wha?! -Out of order!" he mumbles to himself.
"Well , I can fix that. I just need a blank scroll and we can start a goold old fashioned petition"
Kro starts patting himself but soon realizes he does not have a blank scroll to post over vandilized box.
"Hells Bells, no paper!"
Looking around in desperation he searches a nearby garbage bin, finding a crupled up ball. He carefully unwraps it discovering the original petition - "Hey what do you know?!"
He re-posts the wrinkled half filled out petition, signs it himself, then saunters off whistling a happy tune.

Kitty signs the petition, and then returns to the lodge where she has taken turns to watch and guard the place.

A short, muscular man sporting a tight-fittting vest and well-groomed moustache struts by.
One good eye notices the box and scroll, the other swollen shut as a result of a recent pugilistic bout. He approaches the display and reads the scroll, creased as it is.

Treacherous sedition! How DARE these traitors question the Dukes' sound judgement.
Striking a macho, if exaggerated pose, he adds..
I won't have it! Not in my city.

With that, he rips the petition off of the out of order press box. He may be seen marching purposefully towards the Flaming Fist Headquarters, with the potentially damning evidence in hand.

Liam simply watches the mixed reactions with a touch of mirth and incredulity, sipping his wine and smiling at his thoughts on the matter.

*Rising from the shadows when it was clear none would notice her presence, Desrah made her way over to the petition, signed her name, then returned to the shadows to simply continue watching those approaching. She would take special note of who had defaced the petition.*
