Devoutly religious, Divinates serve as the military branch of their church and consider themselves soldiers of their god. Their religious discipline imbues them with a clear sense of purpose; promoting the principles of their faith is not only morally correct, but a sacred duty. Through their studious discipline and faith they are rewarded with additional spells per day, and longer lasting spells.
Divinates were originally responsible for accompanying disciples of the church on religious pilgrimages, fighting off bandits and monsters that lay in wait. However, churches regularly order their divinates into the world to eliminate any evil they feel should be confronted. To a Divinate, evil is an affront to his faith; destroying an agent of evil is a holy act.

Re: Kit release: Cavalier and Divinate
Correct me if I'm wrong.. does this basically make the class lose EDM? Meaning the class is still a landslide weaker FvS?lostinspace wrote:Divinate wrote: Loses access to:

It sounds like its a neat kit though.. auto extend sounds nice when paired with extend.. just feel it shouldnt lose its ability to EDM completely in exchange for it.
Edit: wait.. I think I'm thinking of Turn undead..

Yep. Turn Undead is the fuel for EDM (and Divine Shield, for that matter). So it's the Cavalier that gets no access to those Divine Feats, not the Divinate.Akroma666 wrote:Edit: wait.. I think I'm thinking of Turn undead..

Dear kitting Paladins,
Auto-Extend I-IV does not stack with the extend spell feat. This is intended and not a bug.
Divinate is currently not being granted Bonus Spell Slot III at 19th level. This is a bug.
Cavalier is currently not being granted Great Smiting I at 19th level. This is a bug.
Your patience is appreciated while the Devs iron these out.

Re: Kit release: Cavalier and Divinate
Am I reading this correctly in that Divinate grants Auto Extend spell, but doesn't require the feat extend spell to take it? That seems odd, will auto-extend work if you don't have extend?Tsidkenu wrote:Dear kitting Paladins,

Yep. All their spells (of the requisite levels) are automatically extended to double duration. No additional feat is required (in fact, there's not even a class feat or combat log description that tells you its working, but it does!).

I never tested it, but I can't imagine Rasael suddenly forgot about the possibility of paladin multiclassing

How is the Alignment Requirement 'Any non-evil' supposed to work,
as a Paladin has to be lawful good on creation. ?

This was my thought, is it somehow possible to shift to neutral/chaotic and take paladin levels?Theodore01 wrote:How is the Alignment Requirement 'Any non-evil' supposed to work,

Re: Kit release: Cavalier and Divinate
If it were to be a non-lawful class then I'd strongly suggest that it not be directly affiliated with the paladin class at all. I don't think there needs to be more reasons for people not to roleplay the class or race and this would lead to the quick and eventual demise for folk who want to roleplay a D&D Paladin among other D&D Paladins.Akroma666 wrote:This was my thought, is it somehow possible to shift to neutral/chaotic and take paladin levels?Theodore01 wrote:How is the Alignment Requirement 'Any non-evil' supposed to work,

This is my fault. I was lazy copy pasting the description from another class. The alignment requirement will be Lawful good.Randomgamer wrote:If it were to be a non-lawful class then I'd strongly suggest that it not be directly affiliated with the paladin class at all. Re: Kit release: Cavalier and Divinate
The Cavalier seems like a good choice for those brave souls that decide to make a STR-based paladin. Those paladins don't benefit as much from divine feats, so not having access to Divine Might or Shield isn't as great a loss for them as it would be for CHA-focused or stat balanced paladins. You'd still get access to a spell book full of potent self-buffs.
What I'm really curious about is whether Great Smite II and onwards actually check for the CHA requirement, or whether it's only Great Smite I that does so. A STR-based paladin that can rank up in Great Smite in epic levels would be pretty neat.

No worries MrM3, Lad. That is why I posted in a theoretical context. Getting all the details right in game and everywhere else takes a few editorial passes through. Perfection the first time through is not going to happen, don't be too hard on yourself.

Re: Kit release: Cavalier and Divinate
So let me see if I got this right.
You have to take the first level of paladin before you can turn on kits?
Once on, you level up using that kit instead of the normal paladin levels?
Do you still get the paladin ability's? Like if I go Divinate at level 2, do I still get smite evil at 5? Or does this completely replace the class?
