I think your RP system is good and functions well. Why do people want to level faster? Because you do not experience the class if your speed leveling.

I can think of a few reasons for people to want to speed level. One they just want to pvp. Lame, reason to me.

Second reason they want to get to your epic content faster. It does feel there is more cooler epic level areas in the game then there is 16 to 20 areas. Sorta always felt there should be way more low level areas and not equal amounts. Would love more uber low level stuff myself ;).

Please do don't mess with your rp scales or rp gains. Leveling is at a good pace here, and allows people to enjoy and see a class for those who care about it. You also do not 'fall behind' because your rp'ing. With more dms in the future it will mean more events. That is how people should get bonus XP not hitting the best dungeon per treasure area.

Rather see new stuff then time wasted on power playing.

What of alternative ways to level? Roleplay experience can only be gained when someone is next to you. This leaves moments when you are on your own to hacking the same mobs and doing repeated quest over an over. Why not venture on things your character would actually do, instead of suspending belief again.

It is at horrible pace, and it requires 10 years per character to reach level 30 when you have a job and act according to your sheet without grinding kills, grinding rp xp or grinding quests. (because you'll be gaining roughly seven hundred xp per week. ).

The only reason why people put up with this is because roleplaying and interaction with other characters.

The system is still bad, though. It also encourages existence of immortal epic level characters that hit level 30 years ago and don't need to worry about xp anymore.

Then it takes ten years. So be it. 700 xp a week? You are playing what three hours a week? That is good. I can get 700 xp in 2 hours and I'm a rogue, like a real one not one of these wussy dip ones. ( (I got kill some orcs, then I kill one or two Xrats, yep that's all I can handle before I die. Rp the rest at a nice 30xp every so often. 700 xp in two hours. After that granted I get about 100xp an hour. So I gotta grind dungeons if I want to level instead of doing rogue stuff..... But what ever, nothing is perfect.))

Anyways. What the real issue sounds like for you. Is that you don't like playing the same character. Which is fine some people can't play the same toon for more then 3 months ( I don't know why people play on rp servers then). I like 30's who been around for years. They add a flavor unquie to the realm.

Why do you need to level is the question I have.

What is next to you? Eat shot. Whisper shot? I mean you really only gain rp do for people near you already or are you rp'ing by yourself. Which is creepy cool. You deserve the xp then too!

Don't get me wrong I should gain massive xp for all the sneaking Jane does. All the spying she has done on players. All the secrets she's picked up. ((Who is gonna deny she hasn't done a crap ton of that)) which none of it got me xp. You can't emote when you stealthed with out telling people you are there. Thus there have been hours I got no xp though learned tons.

With knowing that. Leave the xp system here alone.

Rather see new content. Or cooler stuff.

Basically it works. It ain't broke. And if you don't think it's great that's fine. But it ain't broke so don't fix it.

You're grinding kills, I get it. I got fed up with grinding back in 2014 and this is not what my character is after at this point. I also could play social butterfly and force the story of my life on any unfortunate stranger I could came up across, repeatedly.

Except that does not fit the character. Natural progression is 700 xp per week, that's with multiple sessions.

There should be a decent way to progress without running around like headless chicken for many hours. As far as I know, there isn't one.

This issue has been discussed to the death few thousands times already, so I'd advise to reread the whole forum for the past two years, and the answer shall be revealed to you. Or, I don't know, apply to 8 hour job, wipe your character vault and start over from level 1 with no twinked gear, maybe then you'll get it.

Also, speaking of xvarts and rogues.

Try playing a city thief. Look for a valuable artifact in the Baldur's Gate and steal it. See how that one goes. Surely the city has more riches than a xvart village.

First, im not grinding kills, you think running a cave of orcs and killing 2 xvarts in 25 minutes is grinding? You do not know what grinding is then. Almost all my xp (90%) comes from RP and DM events. If I was grinding, I be 30 in three months, I am not even close.

So if I understand you right.. You do not want to go kill monsters for XP, you do not want XP for Roleplaying, or dont want to roleplay. You just want xp for lurking? Logging on? how is your character growing? im not sure if its a PC or NPC your playing.

Advise me?

So first, if you can not state your argument with in five sentences you do not have an argument, you only have a feeling and you do not know how to explain that feeling. Heck, you should be able to explain your issue in two sentences, but you cant, because you do not know what you want, you just want to complain because you do not understand why your upset. This is just basics in discussions, if you can not explain your issue, your wrong till you can. Free advice for you.

Now as for an 8 hour job? I assume your going personal because once again you do not know what you want. Usually when people try to go personal they have lost the argument, so thank you for conceding to me ahead of time.

I have one of those adult jobs that sometimes and more then often require 50 to 60 hour weeks. An adult job that pays a great deal of money for the effort and stress as well. 8 hour days would be nice, but I do not work for a walmart. I discovered this game while on my maternity leave, and when im not playing with my baby or working I enjoy the RP here. Often I am playing and holding my sleeping baby as many know or doing some work related items.

I am also strongly against muling and believe it shouldn't be allowed. I am a new player and only been here a bit less the 4 months. I believe muling hurts rp, and hurts incoming players.

So I actually do get it more then you do. Being an Adult is hard, stop crying.

You really do not know what your speaking about here either. Anyone who knows my character knows she is one bad ass City Thief, and the jobs shes pulled... people are still wondering how they could have been done.

That is because of great Players on this server who RP, and its because of good support from a strained DM team. I also try to avoid bothering them more then I should =).

So my rogue is one of the most bad ass, most talked about, feared, and scary city thieves in Baldurs Gate. That is because other players have made such a great environment for me to play in. ((wouldn't mind sneaking xp...)) I dont even have max tumble for the AC boost because I rather have bluff and appraises.

Thank you for your concession ahead of time.

The same way yours does. By doing what makes sense and earning a bit of xp in process. Via accidental kills or rp xp.

I see.

I believe you're mistaking me for a teen. Anyway:
"I find the current rate of progression to be too low and I think it would be a great if it was increased. It would be nice to have alternative means of gaining xp which could replace current quests. One such alternatives could be class-related jobs, or permadeath system that rewards pc with xp "drops" from time to time, but kills character permanently after he or she dies certain number of times. I believe those measures would greatly employ enjoyability of the server in situation where user has limited amount of time available".

Here you go. Four sentences.
Mallore wrote: You really do not know what your speaking about here either. Anyone who knows
None of my characters are acquianted with yours, and nobody ever spoke of jane's great deeds to them or within earshot from them. There were no books speaking of those great robberies, no memorials, nothing. So, of course I don't know. One of the characters saw jane once talking to someone. But that's it.

I'll be taking my leave from the discussion. Have a nice day.

It's not quite that cut and dry. There is a very large middle ground between wanting to be a high level and wanting to have fun with others after all.

Different people enjoy the game in different ways, and that carries over to the level of progression they want to see. Some are willing to let a character level up on their own and focus on the story at large, and some want to push their character along to focus on personal growth. Some feel the need to constantly make new relationships and contacts, and some want their character sheet to reflect the time their character has spent learning and practicing at their chosen art.

It might not be easy, but I think everyone should take a step back and work on looking at things through the eyes of those they disagree with. Don't just come to a decision about why they think the way they do, try and understand it fully.

We are all here for the RP first and foremost, so if you can't understand why someone thinks the way they do try starting here, and work forward until you get to what they have said.

Endelyon Is there a way to export the 2da file into a spreadsheet easily? If so I'd be willing to do some statistics based upon various time expectancies.

Hopefully this would be easily reimportable into the 2da file. Also the list of monsters is it listed by CL or just name only?

Another suggestion would be putting a min. Level requiremen on some quests. It's a roundabout idea but maybe more labor intensive.

These quests would be weekly and award a certain amount to make up a difference within the leveling curve.

There is already a quest system in place that one can do takes 2-4 hours to complete weekly and awards roughly 8500 XP total if you take only the best option for XP. I do not think from my personal opinion more time burned in quests is what is needed. The best answer and always has been to award a weekly XP pool that only awards XP from that pool when the RP awards come or when you kill a monster. That would alleviate the most need to grind long hours for people. It has been suggested in the past that we remove the XP award from the quests and just put that 8500 XP per week into the players pool instead but retaining the quest for gold earning and to teach the server as they have always been meant to do.

Could just add rested xp.

A multiplier of say x2 for like an hour, which triggers if a character was not logged in say for 48 hours.

Ive seen rested xp in other video games.

Help catch up those who can not play all the time.

Though I really don't like rewarding in activity either.

I think your xp system is also fine for what it needs to do currently. Rather see new content.
