If it would be NWN1 mechanics (for I know relatively nothing about NWN2, sorry)
For PvE you would succeed with really, any. Or would fail with any. So it matter less.
For PvP -
1. divine, positive, magical - in that order. I've seen several items against magic, but only single item vs positive damage, and none vs divine. Monsters are often divine resistant though I think but that mean less.
2. among slashing/piercing/bludgeoning choose one that Differ from damage of your main weapon: when you hit it will be "converted" to main damage type and added. If you'd chose the same damage you already have - it will overlap with damage from EB+4. Provided you deal at least some physical damage to creature, your added damage wouldn't be reduced again. Only exception is damage immunity (%), but thats rare (morphs and summons)

Other then that
the worst choice would be probably elements people usually have resistance against because of adversary classes abilities:
electro (stormlords, storm avatar)
fire (flame weapon)
sonic (bards, stormlords)

comparatively rare should be cold and acid (natural aasimars)
vs polar rays or warlock's acid, 5 means nothing, so maybe acidic or cold weapon may be ok as 3rd tier option.

The worst choice would be negative energy probably, because almost everyone have means of protection - death ward of shadow shield, either as spell or wand, or item.
