Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

This has stopped working now. Before the 'fix', it worked fine if I rested in certain areas. No more, always default locations now.

It has not worked for any of my toons for a long long time.

It still works for a few of mine, but not for most.

Made some changes that should improve it, the changed saving action will start next reset, with the following reset supporting last location based on the new change.

This should maybe possibly be sorted.

I can confirm that my characters that couldn't use it before now can, but it does seem the location save is tied only to resting. I was doing quests on one character and was in the bandit cave as the server crashed last night. When I used the last location option, I spawned somewhere near the fields in the farmlands probably where I rested right after I went in before. I'm pretty sure I got a few items in the cave before the crash.

I don't mind at all personally. I'll just need to keep in mind to rest as often as possible to save on travel back time. Just thought I'd mention it because I recall reading somewhere that your location is supposed to be saved every time you get an item.

No. Your character should be saved every two minutres or whenever you get an item, but your location is only saved upon resting or hitting the "save character" button on the PC tools. This is essentially just to make setting your last location somewhat "voluntary," that way you can save at the beginning of a dungeon or somewhere ideal (like a rest area) as opposed to right before the boss room in the thick of hostile territory.

I'm afraid to say one of my characters is no longer able to use return to last location once again. So far it's just Solus. I logged on briefly this morning before I had to go to the store. I choose the Return to Home location which I had set to Beregost. Now after logging in, the return to last location is no longer available.

Have you saved via resting or using the PC tool save option? Those are the only ways to have a sustained save location as End stated above.

Both. I had rested and used the save from the PC tools. However, the option has now returned and Solus can use it once again as of the last reset prior to this post.

I had it glitch on the first conversation with mystra yesterday.

Cancelling the conversation and restarting it then showed up options, or try relogging perhaps

I'll see if that's the case if it happens again. On another note, I'm pretty sure location is not being saved when you use the save option from the PC tools. Lately, I've been using it every time before I log, but I never return to the spot I manually saved at. I either return to the spot where I last rested or some "random" location where I had been traveling.

For example, earlier today I saved after getting all the way through the abandoned temple and climbing up the ladder. But when I logged in later after the reset and choose the return to last location option, I returned to a spot in the middle of the temple and it wasn't a place that was safe to rest at. I'm guessing it was the location that was saved by the two minute timer?
