Arent there many boots of Etherealness around? Does that mean that every player that has a pair can walk through walls?
ooooo I so hope so!

If Passwall spell here "teleports" you and not moves you physically "through" things, is it applicable in this?

that said...
Down with Wizards!!!..... unless their buffing me, then..... Yay! Wizards! :D

The issue isn't so much that we have pass wall, its that Ethereal in nwn2 behaves exactly like Sanctuary behaves in PnP. You can see the target, you can attack the target indirectly, you cannot attack the target directly. The target cannot pass through walls. It makes perfect sense for all spells that give Ethereal in nwn2 to be named sanctuary spells, because of this.

The only other way to go is to give ethereal the following benefits:

-Ethereal people cannot be seen (invisibility doesn't work. If someone has see invisibility they can attack you, even if you have ethereal up too).

-Passive passing through walls (good luck passing that by the staff).

-You cannot attack the target indirectly (can be achieved with immunity to all damage/effects, and it would also make ethereal more OP than it already is. Ethereal doesn't need a buff.)

-Some twisted mechanic to allow ethereal characters to attack each other without breaking ethereal.

This doesn't need to be done. Ethereal spells being sanctuary effects is very in keeping with how nwn2 is, mechanically. It is the best solution for Ethereal in nwn2.

In pnp, Ethereal can be affected by a few things.

Force effects and abjurations affect an ethereal creature normally. Their effects extend onto the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, but not vice versa. An ethereal creature can’t attack material creatures, and spells you cast while ethereal affect only other ethereal things. Certain material creatures or objects have attacks or effects that work on the Ethereal Plane.

You can see them with true seeing I believe by lore.
