I have fixed the build, replaced Epic Prowess and EW with 2 more Great Dexterity Feats (EW doesn't work with ranged anyway so was really a 'just in case your in melee even though you never should be' add on). The baseline it is predicated on is still correct though, you take two feats to strengthen your companion and mix your spells between buffs for you and the pet, when in doubt, defense over offense for your pet and offense over defense for your PC. End goal is simply to have your pet get between you and the enemies so you can hang back using many shot and, when necessary one shot. The Favored Enemies chosen should allow you to do damage to the majority of enemies throughout the leveling process and also effect many enemies with DR. 2d6 + 7 damage from Bane of Enemies on every hit is no joke when you consider manyshot and improved rapid shot.

I thought I misread your notes.

I adjusted my build after reading yours to co-inside with that line of thinking. Don't have able learner and UMD goodness in there but got EW, 2nd one shot and blinding speed. I invested in weapon finesse so may as well EW I guess.

You'll do fine. Ranger doesn't really need UMD (but if course it helps), Cranston was honestly about as non - optimized as you can get and he still did relatively well against all but fairly high end bosses Like FGK, YTQ and above. Even there I think I would be able to take FGK and YTQ if I still had him. Ranger really is a perfectly viable pure class with a lot of rp potential. Still one of my favorites!

Chad, on that Ranger build of yours, I would swap Natural Bond to Level 6 and Protective Ward to level 15. It just gives you a much more beefed up animal companion earlier on, and makes leveling a much more pleasant thing to do.

Rangers are fine. I would perhaps consider adding Tumble as a class skill because it would help with their poor AC and it also makes sense from a RP perspective.

and/or, blasphemy, I know, but turn all the 20 some odd 'favored power attack feats' into one, universal, favored power attack feat.

Same with Improved Favored Enemy. One selection applies to all favored enemies in PnP.

While I personally would love such a change, in the past as a group this has been considered overpowered. I agree Improved FE / FPA would be a great boon, it would likely also become must have feats in most cases, at least IFE would. Generally this is avoided, though I'd be for such a change.

Lost a couple of ACs today. Going naked takes into account my base 10 + 8 Dex + 1 from 10 Tumble points = 19 AC. Should get another 2 from Protective Ward if it was working.

Can you put Protective Ward from your character sheet to your hotbar and "activate" it?

Not possible. It's a passive feat.

Its the Nexus script. Rest after you leave nexus, that should fix it. Else log out and back in.
