Its hardly useless.
Where the AC usually never triggers duo to party members having +2 from eother items or spells. The + to their saves is a boon that stacks with everything (to my knowledge). And its mucj better than those selective auras, that only aid with vs. Fear or death. Bodyguard is a bonus to universal saves.

I was referring to AC bonus only - as in topic of this thread and error message that gets spammed. Sorry I thought it was quite obvious. If there is no way to remove spammed message then removing AC bonus wont really change anything and could be considered valid sollution. Its just annoyance to try to have a conversation in non-common when bodyguards are around.

Fair point.
Would be great if the chat window offered more options of customization. Sadly from what i understand it's an uphill game to deal with.

Giving a bonus feat at lvl five would make going level five worth it. ( Maybe bonus feat list similiar to kayan knight list...

While I agree that level 4-5 are a bit underwhelming the 1-3 are excellent, even if the deflection AC is not very useful.
It's a high BAB class with sneak attack, movement speed bonus, opening some important skills (detection skills and heal skill) and absolutely 0 requirements (except BAB). Also Reflex and Will save progression, usually very good for melee types.
In my opinion it doesn't need any change, even the AC type to be honest.
While I understand the argument if most of the classes benefits are excellent, then why make a change to make the class "better"? I would still argue that one of the perks of the class is still superfluous (maybe except for summons and animal companions). The AC bonus is meant to provide some added protection to the ones you are bodyguarding and yet, no one gains benefit from this. Were the AC a self bonus, than I would agree to keep the AC type as is, but really changing the AC bonus to untyped or luck (or whatever) would be a good thing as it incentivizes teamwork and having a bodyguard around. People like having bards around for a reason.
IDK, maybe there would be folks who would hire bodyguards between his "guarding the lord" and stacking AC and saves aura...

No one really ?

even if all PCs around you have +4 deflection AC (not a given) then it still benefits summons and other henchmen. This class does not deserve a boost.

Nope, though more uses of the feat could be given per day (and yes it's a pretty underwhelming feat).

I agree with valefort on this subject. Bodyguard is already a very good class. It hardly needs to get buffed. Any QoL updates would be very welcome however.
What about setting guarding the lord on a cooldown? I think it makes more sense if it was an ability they could periodically activate, rather than a 3x use. I dont think there is any particular reason why they would suddenly be unable to use it?

Would it really be beneficial though ? If the cooldown is important then it can get in the way of saving someone at the right time, a short 1 round cooldown .. is probably fine there.
