Not so fast monsieur!!!

Do you think that Dervish's Thousand Cuts — 2d6 slashing dmg — would be affected by Northlander Hewing? Or is the physical damage maximized ONLY with damage from/on the Weapon (and not the Character Sheet)? Furthermore, does a weapon with Massive Critical properties get Maximised as well?

Pretty sure critical damage gets added after NH. It doesn't get maximised. Thus you get different damage every time you hit something.

No clue about the dervish feat. I suspect it gets the same treatment though.

Only base weapon damage is maximized from what I could see.

Plus any extra physical damage is maxed, at least as according to the wiki (the wiki gives the example of a weapon having piercing 1d4 would be 4 always with NH). This is why I wondered with Critical—which is the same physical type as the weapon—and Thousand Cuts, which is slashing dmg in particular by type.

No clue, can't be known from the script, you have to test it, cleave attacks would probably be treated in the same way.

Yes with base damage this works but not with elemental or other extra damage.

Do we think it works with unarmed damage? If so, even a non STR based monk could stand to get a lot of extra damage on average.

3 attacks... 8 APR would become 5, under haste 9 APR would become 6...

That said I think NH does not work with fists, but I will need to do some research and see if I can confirm in the forums. If it does work with fists it shouldn't as it takes away a weakness of DEX based M25/SD5 since their damage per hit would go from ~13.5 up to 24 before any STR, EB or other bonuses. Northern Hewing is not meant to work with fists and I think that it doesn't, but will confirm.

Lol, kind of what I was thinking. No jabs for my wisdom monk, thanks, just rocky balboa style haymakers all day. If pure 30 monk, its 30 damage a shot minimum, yeah? I think there are some epic gloves that have 1d4 piercing, too, so make that 38 per shot. +2 STR modifier seems pretty reasonable even on a wis monk, so make that 42 damage per hit. Hilarious.
