That is correct but wizards can get 5/day just by focusing on one school and sacrificing another, which actually isn't that big of a sacrifice since chances are the school they are sacrificing has spells they never planned to use anyway.CleverUsername123 wrote:...Uh, what? A lot of people choosing ASoC isn't really a problem. What's wrong with people using prestige classes? Arcane Scholar has improved metamagics and that's a nice thing to have. My wizard has levels in ASoC.
Why should there be incentive for sorcs to stay pure? They get all their spells at way more uses per day than a wizard gets; 6/day not even counting Charisma, isn't it?
How many Arcane Sorcerer Scholars are there?

Not planning to use doesn't mean not ending up needing. I chose Divination as my prohibited school. Cut to a week later, when I have 4th level spells.Daimondheart wrote:That is correct but wizards can get 5/day just by focusing on one school and sacrificing another, which actually isn't that big of a sacrifice since chances are the school they are sacrificing has spells they never planned to use anyway.CleverUsername123 wrote:...Uh, what? "Lauron, just find them with scrying."
"...well, here's the thing about that..."
Anyways, why are we comparing by pure 30? Basically no one stays with a pure class. The best options for wizards are prestige classes too; a Wizard 10/ASoC 10/Archmage 10 vs a Sorc 10/ASoC 10/Archmage 10 with a mostly identical build wouldn't be heavily skewed in the wizard's favor. While the sorc has all of his spells at a whim, the wizard has to have seen the fight coming or he won't be completely ready. Do you walk around with five Energy Immunities memorized? (...well, I do, but that's not the point.)
It's not a bad thing to encourage prestige classes. Show me a single-classed rogue 30, barbarian 30, fighter 30?

PrCs are fine. I have no issues with PrCs. I use them all the time myself. In fact, regardless of what if anything happens after all this, I probably will still use them. It never was about making PUREs better than PrCs, and I've no idea where people are getting that idea to begin with. It's simply to address the fact that a sorcerer has virtually no reason to stay a sorcerer after level 6.CleverUsername123 wrote:Not planning to use doesn't mean not ending up needing. The problem is that all the other classes do get something.
On a side note, why are all these questions being asked on this topic? There's already a topic on the Discussion forum and in the other topic on the Suggestion thread. This was just meant to be a poll to find out the ratio of Arcane Sorcerer Scholars to Non. Anything that doesn't deal with that or at least some manner of related numbers is off topic.
