I'm not sure who either of those people are, but if it makes you feel any better guest contributors and writers are not usually paid royalties for one-off contributions to a project owned by someone else. At least in my work in the freelance writing industry, I've not seen contributors paid royalties for guest submissions. Typically you get a check for your work (well, an electronic funds transfer these days) and it's done.

After all, Avalon Hill and Wizards of the Coast will be the companies positioned to make or lose money based on how well the product does. :) Which is fair, in my opinion, since they put in all the development cost and hold the copyrights involved. Of course, I don't know the details of anyone's contracts, so who's to say?

Either way, anything with "Baldur's Gate" in the name is probably getting my money.

Same here! I'm hearing good things about this title to be honest, and it sounds like they've done a lot of work making it feel like "our" Baldur's Gate (not the PW obviously!)
Characters
Amara Calder - Returned to Waterdeep
Elanatha Ariavel - Passed away quietly on the voyage to Evermeet

Maire Whitecrest - Untaken of Umberlee

Only mildly interested in a tabletop game. Even if it is based on BG.

Two people I'd rather not give any money or attention to. They don't need more attention. Anita I am surprised even did this, considering how often she (#2) all over video games she's (Very obviously.) never even played on her vlogs.
I think what Anita is pointing at in the games industry is important and needed. She doesn't need to play the games she points out. Watching a short film on youtube gives you enough information about it.
You may not like that feminism is applied to games too, but in our chauvinistic world it is sadly still an issue.

And to the admins: I didn't open the can of worms. But I certainly won't stay silent about it.

Fair point, I actually didn't know that about guest writers. I like the game this game is based off of as well. So it has that going in its favour.

A lot of her points are moot though, if she'd actually played any of the games she rags on, she would likely form a far different opinion.

In some cases, indeed she can be correct about things, this is when you can actually tell she's played a game she is ripping into, rather than just watching 2 minute video. I do not think what she does is inherently terrible, I just think that after her rise in popularity that she let it go to her heard and just rips on any game that is remotely popular without ever playing any of them beyond watching a trailer and making baseless assumptions about everything in the middle.

If you're going to review something form a feminist standpoint, I am cool with that. Just make sure you actually do your research and don't just pitch it from a ( SO OBVIOUSLY.) biased viewpoint. Even my girlfriend who is in Uni to become a social worker, works at the sexual assault center for women, and is active in feminist circles, hates Anita because it's so obvious she doesn't actually play any of the stuff she rips on.

Anyways, not what the thread is about, so that's all i'll say on it. ;)
