Why dont we just cut off epic levels all together, that would make things even easier no? easier for DM to balance events, you could get rid of the 3b20 rule. everyone is happy. and it would reflect the actual power level of the setting much better.

Or we could give free RcR's for those poor, poor souls addicted to trying out all the new hairstyles, if they're changing nothing but their head/hair. Not that I know anyone who's ever done that...

I am a big supporter of this.

Please provide examples of a server that is thriving under this. I have not seen one personally. Avoid the 20 level servers entirely and so does most of the reason to be on a server like this. People. Interaction not on a railroad scripted storyline. If you know the server that is as good as BG is with 30 levels please provide me with the server. I would love to try another that is as good as this one is.

the blending of AOS's consciousness with the server's mainframe has been a success. AoS is now in full cyborg mode and should from now on be called AoS9000.

I made a proposal a while ago, to split the server, with levels 21 - 30 having the option to go to the more planar/ rashemon server, and level 31+ being forced to, with ways to return to the sword coast requiring expensive spells or DM events only, and that only last for a game month or so.
Something like that.
However, these massive change suggestions are not honest dialogue.
Things like "wiping the char vault so everybody starts over" and "getting rid of epic levels" are not real suggestions. They are clearly disengenious.

The file already exists in all NWN2 installations.

How about we allow players to RCR beyond the present cap, but with a cost of 100,000gp for each level above 20?
So a level 30 can do a 100% RCR if they pay up 1mil in gold.
One of the biggest pains in RCRing a late epic character with the present system is the loss of all those RL hours invested into the character post-level 20, compounded with having to go through the painfully slow leveling process in the epics all over again. Since time is money, I thought paying in gold for your post-20 RCR levels is a good balance. Besides, it's a gold sink as well.
To add further checks and balances (for all the reasons why the current cap is in place), this could be made DM-application only and allowable only 1x per month per player.
What do staff and players think of the above?
What do you enjoy when you play on the server ?

Leveling needs to be slowed down 1-20 and sped up 20+. Epic leveling is absolutely a chore. Though i will admit dynamic scaling has helped at least make it more interesting at 25+ since there are 2-3 times as many areas you can earn decent xp.
Why does it need to be slowed down 1-20? It's still a big chore then.

Go Bald. Every hairstyle, as fast as you can click the back or forward on your appearance changer.

My sentiments too. While I can appreciate the occasional sarcasm and jibe, let's try to stay on track and solutions-focused.

I enjoy playing a character/RP concept I have in mind without having to spend inordinate amounts of time achieving that concept, especially when I have already invested much time playing out that concept and the server releases a new class that is far more relevant to the concept than my current build (read: Dragon Disciple -- something that for years I've been hoping for, and for years, I've been force-feeding the classes prior to DD into my character concept).
Separately, as someone who plays almost exclusively sorcerers, not being able to swap spells when the server releases new ones is a huge bummer.

This is a fair concern. But again, why do we have to curb the enjoyment of the masses in order to curtail the potential exploits from the few? (My premise for the "enjoyment" point here, as stated upthread, is that spending inordinate amounts of RL time getting to a envisioned character concept is an enjoyment killer. Calodan puts it very aptly -- "vamp life"!)
In my opening suggestion, I recommended DM-application, if need be, for 100% RCR. To address the concern Chad raised, the application could include a build plan, and once RCR has been done, the player should submit a screenshot of his character screen at the 20th level. This should prove beyond doubt that the 3b20 rule was complied with.
Just a couple of other remarks: This is an ancient game relying upon a small core group of dedicated staff and players to keep it going. With all the new games that are pushed out yearly, we really don't know how many more years this server can remain viable. So perhaps it's time to take a more pragmatic approach to how we regulate this game on issues like RCR in order to keep engagement and enjoyment high? The recent time we had a 100% RCR window, it didn't turn out disastrously did it? In fact, I think the player base was quite appreciative of such a gesture. So maybe we could at least consider a regular schedule of 100% RCR windows? As you all can see, I'm fundamentally speaking from a position of time -- we are not getting any younger and there are really many things that compete for the time that we spend in BG, so let's not make time spent in BG tedious!
