Re: Bags (of holding)

The weight encumbrance is one of the few drawbacks of low STR builds and bags of holding also allows to be "always ready", two other reasons for not having them in.

This is not an issue. In fact, this is something we take into account when creating new systems. Low STR character should have less carrying capacity so there wont be any systems that fully negate that.NegInfinity wrote:This solves issues of lowstr characters and is less work/trouble than horses.
Unless they have bags of holding (as per PnP).mrm3ntalist wrote:Low STR character should have less carrying capacity....
Explain to me how the turn based looting, inventory management, real time constraints in pnp can be implemented in a real time no time constraint game.Thorsson wrote:Unless they have bags of holding (as per PnP).mrm3ntalist wrote:Low STR character should have less carrying capacity....
Giving bags of holding does not break the game. Now this looks like the sort of thing you could reward players of level 30s with for retiring their character. It doesn't really break the game (be honest now, it doesn't does it?) and it gives a reward that could be useful, so that people could be tempted.
It really isnt a big deal.Really not sure why this is seen as such a big deal. Personally I never make a character with less than 10 Str, but if it's something you don't want then make it a rule. Or discourage it another way.
Unfortunately, i reached my quota before the mods bug me about back and forth etc. I will "fess up" after 24 hours.Thorsson wrote:So, given it's not about strength after all, why do you wish to limit carrying capacity so much?
I refer again to things like bags of gems, which you keep ignoring. Regardless of the differences between PnP and NWN2, they are only there in PnP to act as a convenience for players. Why exactly do you not wish to extend such a convenience here, especially seeing that "it's no big deal"?
Time to 'fess up.
Hmm. ... I can see a point here, although I'm not sure if I agree with it and although it makes me wonder why the work was done on horses, which serve the same function.Valefort wrote:The weight encumbrance is one of the few drawbacks of low STR builds and bags of holding also allows to be "always ready", two other reasons for not having them in.
What will happen if you lower DEX ( or any other ability ) and put some points into STR?RaiderOne wrote:Though in some ways it does stop you have strength as a dump stat. ive a warlock with str 10 and its really hard to carry anything since my armour eats 15-25 of my limit.
warlock needs everything to some degree so you have to compromise. I'm not complaining about it. I wanted to have skill points for RP skills and such so str had to go to 10. No character can do everything. I was just offering an alternative to trying to make the bags work. It's not a bad suggestion as it takes zero resources to achieve and maintain. E.g. +25 is small enough to cover your healing kits and basic wearables.mrm3ntalist wrote:RaiderOne wrote: What will happen if you lower DEX ( or any other ability ) and put some points into STR?
